Isn’t it obvious that though the cow secretes milk for the sake of its own calf only, God’s resolution must be that it should stay as a mother by natural means for all of us human beings and offer nourishment with its milk? That motherly affection itself has rendered the cow, a lofty position which is denied to any other animal — the elevation of being considered as Divine as God Himself.

The cow is certainly a God indeed. Though she appears to be an animal, the Gho Matha who offers milk like a human mother is nothing but an incarnation of the Divine Sri Matha. While remaining as the Divine Mother who bestows on us all that we wish for, She stands as Kamadenu. Normally cow gives milk. But this Kamadenu cow has originated from the ocean of milk itsef (Parkadal). Sree Matha Herself came down as Gho Matha. This is what Mooka Kavi prays for, in his ‘Panchashathi’; “Oh Mother! Be a Kamadenu for us”, he prays. “Kamadhukha Bhava Kamale Kamakale Kamakoti Kamakshi” –  Jagadguru Chandrasekharendra Saraswathy Swamigal

begins with “ghee devata ka mukhya bhojya hai…

Hope that those of you able to follow Hindi will assimilate all the MANY points being made above, with respect to the deliberate sadism and viciousness involved in go mata slaughter.

In 1973, owing to difficult circumstances our family landed in, we donated all 13 of our lactating go mata to the Abhay Ashram, a Gandhian organization, run by a Sri Ghosh at the time, and situated right opposite the Dum Dum Airport road to Barasat.

Owing to some issues with local Muslims, the details of which are unknown to me, some miscreants came and cut off the flesh from the living gomata, as they grazed. Cut off flesh from haunches, and thick muscles, so that the mata were left to die in terrible agony, in the hot sun, before anyone even reached them.

What is happening to our holy Bharat Mata? So-called brahmans like Ramachandra Guha, the Hindu newspaper group, including N. Ram, and thousands of more brahmans, at least nominally, are leading the charge against every aspect of the holy Sanatana Dharma.

KP Sharma Oli and other leftists in Nepal had humiliated the holy ritwiks at the Sri Pashupatinath Mandir.

It is well beyond my capacity to grasp any of this, other than to feel overwhelming defeat and despair.

Sri Sri Mahaswamigal advised us to plant agati keerai, Sesbania grandiflorum, which provides greens for go mata as well as humans. Please let us follow His Injunctions, and plant as many agati keerai as we can in all the places where there is space.

    • Thanks for posting this, no one speaks truth like this in our country for fear of life. Every hindu should listen to this again and again and remember this when you buy your next calf leather purse, wallet, belt, bag assuming the halal beef eating hindus will not be visitors to this blog. Tears… shame that current majority elected govt has been able to do anything against this atrocity

Thank you for your concurrence with the views expressed by Sri Kalicharan Maharaj. I am not a devotee, or anything like that with respect to him. I merely like some of the views he so strongly espouses, and is intent on spreading among his devotees/followers. At least that is a good start, don’t you think?

I am a cell biologist, who pretends to study a few things; not false modesty, since all we “know” all our bhava, all will, all is merely the actual manifestation of GOD as bhava, speech, thought, etc. Vidya is the same, the actual physical manifestation of SriSri Jagadamba as any discrete vidya.

So, when I criticise some aspect of our Hindu society, the above point should be kept in mind, that i am not interested in showing off in the least, or signalling virtue i do not have in the least!!

That said, would like the Hindu samaj to educate itself on many, many issues surrounding dairy farming, the keeping of go mata, and so many more. But educate themselves with real, valid and admissible proof in the scientific community that today calls the shots in most of the world. We have got to make our points, by being even more capable at this game, as well as by being credible beyond any doubt. To refute us would be to refute their own convictions. And we have to be a lot more educated and informed about the world we actually live in.

Here is a point that I have been wrestling with and only have found very partial solutions to, at this time.

        1. Desi go mata, for multiple reasons, genetic as well as husbandry, generally conceive for the first time at around 4 years of age. Remember, these are provisional figures drawn from past conditions, which have not been under a high plane of nutrition. IN the west, we have whole subdisciplines devoted to HEIFER NUTRITION alone. The level of scientific competence in our holy motherland is rubbish, self-defeating, and based on inflated delusions that earn us the contempt of the world. We do not even understand the evolution of go mata, the evidence of neck-humped vs. shoulder -humped vs, non-humped go mata, depicted in the Indu Valley seals.

European breeds, and hybrids, conceive at around 2-3 years of age.

The normal number of gestations [calvings] is around 5.5, although we know of many gomata being fertile beyond the 12th calving.

In the West, the gomata are kept for just 2-3 calvings, since that encompasses their peak productivity and yield. Then culled.

Additionally, the US data on dairy herds show that there is at least 23-25% permanent damage to gomata before the first calving. There are unavoidable accidents, pursuant to go mata being bred for higher and higher fresh milk yields. This is a very complex subject, and no simplistic pronouncements can be made that will possess some weight.

These gomata are also culled, in addition to the many cullings that go on throughout the productive life.

In India, gomata easily can live beyond 20 years, if fed right. So, less than 1/3 of a gomata’s life is about economic milk yield. Most of it is when she is not producing milk in commercial amounts, or cannot.

“piitodakA jagdhatrNA dughdhadohA nirindriyAH” Sri NaciketA noticed that his father, the rishi UddAlaka Aruni, in the guise of donating his all to holy brahmans and rishis, was actually giving away those gomata who had drunk their last bit of water, eaten their last meal of grass, had been milked all they could be milked, and were missing organs [indriyAH]. He commented to his father that those who indulge in such practices condemn themsleves to farker realms, at which point his so-called dad got mad at him.

So you see, the exact issues that dogged even our great rishis dog us to this day. What to do with gomata who are not producing milk? It is alright to talk about gomutra, govara, etc. but there are many problems with that. I can go into exhaustive detail. But suffice to say, in places like UP, gomata are just being released on to roads, etc. and are creating a HUGE SOCIAL PROBLEM. I am not advocating killing, but I just do not know what to say. Some groups, e.g. in Gujarat, are working with desi gomata, in very admirable ways, but that is not the case in 99.99% of India.

Indeed, for many years, i had the inner urging to insist on milk products from cow herds who have been reared under a NO KILL NO SLAUGHTER from BIRTH TO NATURAL DEATH policy. If you inquire from Ramdev, and so on, you will find that they cannot guarantee that the gomata herds from which their ghee is derived comes NO KILL NO CULL NO SLAUGHTER herds, or even individual gomata.

Ramdev sells low quality green fodder to many Gujarat dairy people, and you may be sure that this fodder for profit reaches many who routinely cull their gomata, either by starvation, or other means.

Let us pin down Ramdev to such points, because if we can get someone like him into committing to NO CULL NO SLAUGHTER herds, then the whole of India will sit up to listen.

Even holy mandirs should INSIST that they WILL NOT ACCEPT for abhishekam, or for any purpose, inlcuding food, milk and milk products that cannot come with the GUARANTEE of NO CULL NO SLAUGHTER. This includes calves and males, or else, why do we try to rescue rishabhams in this Mahaswamigal group?

In the US, many mandirs will not accept any milk otehr than from certified organic sources, but this is only a cosmetic step. ORGANIC does not mean HUMANE. “Organic” is a much-abused and controverted label in the US that only means higher profits, based on the ignorance of consumers. I can go into this into as much technical detail as anyone wishes.

So, we need to start from somewhere, and take firm steps. Indians are emotional and superficial, not having the gumption to stick to the very end. Muslims will do anything for their religion, in any shape or form. Will we?

Let us try to inform ourselves, from credible sources, which will allow us to speak with incontrovertible authority on mundane issues, e.g. gomata nutrition and genetics.

Otherwise, how many gomata and calves can be admitted to goshalas? We have hundreds of millions of producing gomata. Some more effective paths have to be developed, and cannot be unless we have the full force of believing Hindus with us.

gAm iti vedalakShaNAM” this refers to both the gomata in HER physical aspects, as well as giH, HER trancendental aspect as VAK. Do we really uphold these eternal, shashvata, truths?

        Humble pranams
