பிரம்மானந்தம்

ஈஸ்வரரின் திருஅவதாரமாக நாமெல்லாம் கண்டு களிக்கும் வண்ணம் நம்மிடையே அருள்பாலிக்கும் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவா சுகப்பிரம்மரிஷி அவர்களின் மேன்மையான அம்சங்களோடு அதே சமயம் அதனை மறைத்து எளிமையோடு நம்மில் ஒருவராய் நமக்கெல்லாம் பெரும்பாக்யம் தந்தருளும் தயாள மேன்மையோடு திகழ்கிறார்.

டாக்டர் ஆர். வீழிநாதன் என்பவர் சமஸ்கிருதப் பேராசிரியர் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் பரமபக்தர். அவர் தன் அனுபவமாக ஒரு சம்பவத்தை விவரிக்கிறார். (நன்றி: மகா பெரியவாள் தரிசன அனுபவங்கள்)

தேனம்பாக்கம் சிவாஸ்தானத்தில் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா முகாமிட்டு அருளிக் கொண்டிருந்த காலம் அது. ஜன்னல் வழியாக ஜகத்குரு தரிசனம் தருவார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க இவருடைய மருமான் திரு. நாராயணன் சென்றுள்ளார். சுற்றிலும் தொண்டர்கள்.

இயல்பாக ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா “நாராயண” என்று சொல்ல இவர் “என்ன” என கணீரென்று குரல் கொடுக்கிறார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஸ்ரீமந் நாராயணனை ஜபிக்க, விஷ்ணுபுரம் சாது நாராயணன் குரல் கொடுக்கிறார்.

“அட, நீ இங்கே தான் இருக்கியா? என்று புன்முறுவலோடு ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தொடர்கிறார். “உனக்கு இதயம் பற்றித் தெரியுமோ? கடிகாரம் மாதிரி அது கனகணக்காய் அடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறதே எப்படி?” என்கிறார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா எதற்கோ அடிபோடுகிறார் என்று திரு. நாராயணன் மௌனமாக நிற்கிறார்.

கடிகாரத்தைபோல இதயம் ஓடுகிறதா? இல்லை இதயத்தைப் பார்த்து கடிகாரம் கண்டுபிடித்தார்களா?” என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கேட்க யாரும் பதில் சொல்லவில்லை.

“கடிகாரத்திலே பல் சக்கரம் பழுதுபட்டுவிட்டால் துடிப்பு தடுமாறி போகிறது. ஒன்று நேரத்தை அதிகம் காட்டுகிறது. அல்லது குறைவாகக் காட்டுகிறது. ரிப்பேர் செய்துவிட்டால் சரியான நேரம் காட்டுகிறது. அது போல இதயத் துடிப்பும் தாளம் போடுவது உண்டாமே. உனக்குத் தெரியுமோ” ஒன்றும் அறியாதவர் போல் நாடகமாடும் தெய்வம் கேட்கிறது.

“ஆமாம். அப்படி இதயக் கோளாறு ஏற்படுவது உண்டுன்னு கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம் என்று அங்கிருந்தோர் எல்லாருமே குரல் கொடுக்கிறார்கள்.

தரிசனத்தை முடித்துக் கொண்டு நாராயணன் வெளியே வந்து சென்னை  செல்லும் பஸ் ஒன்றில் ஏறி உட்கார்கிறார். அவருக்குப் பக்கத்தில் அமர்ந்த ஒரு பயணி அவரிடம் “நீங்க என்ன மெட்ராஸா?” என்கிறார்.

இவர் ஆமாம் என்கிறார்.

உடனே அந்த பக்கத்து சீட் ஆசாமி இருவருக்கும் சேர்த்து பஸ் டிக்கெட் வாங்க முயல்கிறார். முன்பின் தெரியாத நபர் இப்படி தனக்கும் சேர்த்து டிக்கட் வாங்குவதை விரும்பாமல் நாராயணனே தனக்கு வாங்கிக் கொள்கிறார்.

அப்போது அந்த புதியவர் கேட்கிறார். “தப்பா எடுத்துக்க வேண்டாம். இப்போ ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தரிசனம் பண்ணிட்டுத்தான் நானும் வர்றேன். உங்ககிட்டே ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கேட்ட போது நானும் அங்கே இருந்தேன். நான் ஒரு டாக்டர். ஹார்ட் ஸ்பெஷலிஸ்ட். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா எதுக்கு இதையெல்லாம் பேசினான்னு தெரியலே. ஒரு வேளை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா விரும்பினா நான் ஈ.ஸி.ஜி மிஷினோடு வர்றேன். அவருக்கு விருப்பப்பட்டா எடுத்துப் பார்க்கலாம்.” என்றார்.

நாராயணன் ஒப்புக் கொள்ளவில்லை. ஆனால் அந்த டாக்டருக்கோ, தான் தரிசிக்க நின்றபோது ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா இப்படி கேள்வி கேட்டதற்கான காரணம் ஏதோ ஒன்று இருக்க வேண்டுமென்று நினைத்ததால், இவரிடம் நட்பு கொண்டு இவரை சம்மதிக்க வைத்துவிட்டார்.

ஒரு குருவாரம். நாராயணன், இந்த டாக்டர், அவர் மனைவி ஆகியோருடன் ஒரு காரில் வீழிநாதன் அவர்களின் வீட்டிற்கு வந்து, அவரை சந்தித்து மேற்கண்ட விபரங்களைக் கூறி அவரை அறிமுகம் செய்தார். மேலும் காரில் ஈ.ஸி.ஜி. கருவிகளோடு ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க கிளம்பியிருப்பதாகக் கூறி வீழிநாதனையும் உடன் வரும்படி அழைத்தார்.

வீழிநாதனுக்கு இப்படி பெரியவாளுக்கு ஈ.ஸி.ஜி. எடுக்கப் புறப்பட்டிருப்பதில் விருப்பமில்லாவிட்டாலும், ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தரிசன ஆவலால் அவர்களுடன் பயணித்தார்.

இவர்கள் போனபோது ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க பெரிய கூட்டம் ‘க்யூ’ வில் நிற்கிறது.

நாராயணன் ஒரு அணுக்கத் தொண்டரிடம் இதுபற்றிக் கூறுகிறார். ஆனால் அவரோ “அதெல்லாம் முடியாது. அன்னிக்கு ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஏதோ சொன்னான்னு நீ டாக்டரோட வந்திருக்கியே….. இதை நாங்க போய் பெரியவாளிடம் சொல்லி பாட்டு வாங்க முடியாது. வேணும்னா நீயே சொல்லு” என்று மறுத்து விடுகின்றனர்.

பின்பு யாரும் பேசவில்லை. நாராயணன், அந்த டாக்டர், அவர் மனைவி, வீழிநாதன் ஆகியோர் ஒன்றும் தோன்றாமல் நிற்கின்றனர்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அப்போது தரிசனம் கொடுக்க ஜன்னல் முன் அந்து அமர்கிறார்.

எடுத்த எடுப்பிலேயே “இன்னிக்கு டாக்டர் வெங்கிடி வருவாரே” என்று கேட்கிறார். டாக்டர் வெங்கிடி என்பவர் காஞ்சிபுரத்தில் அடிக்கடி ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தரிசித்து வேண்டியதை செய்து கொடுக்கும் பக்தர். உள்ளூர்க்காரர்.

இந்த சென்னை டாக்டர் க்யூவின் கடைசியில் நிற்க, ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா வெங்கிடி டாக்டரைக் கேட்பதும் எல்லாம் அறிந்தும் அறியாமலிருப்பது போல் நாடகமாடும் அனுக்ரஹமே என்று இவர்களுக்குத் தோன்றியிருக்கலாம். உள்ளூர் டாக்டர் வியாழன் தோறும் வருபவர்.

“குருவாரம். அதனாலே இன்னிக்கு வருவார்னு தான் நினைக்கிறோம்” என்று தொண்டர்கள் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு பதிலளிக்கின்றனர்.

“நான் வரச்சொன்னதா சொல்லி அனுப்பு” என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கூறிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போதே டாக்டர் வெங்கிடி தாமாகவே வந்து விடுகிறார்.

“உங்களுக்கு நூறு ஆயுசு. பெரியவா இப்பத்தான் உங்களைக் கூப்பிட்டுண்டு வரச் சொன்னா. நீங்களே வந்துட்டீங்க” என்று அவரிடம் தொண்டர்கள் கூற ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா புன்னகை புரிகிறார்.

உடனே ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தான் எல்லாம் அறிந்தவர் என்பதை வெளிபடுத்துபவராக “நாராயணன்! நீ யாரையோ அழைச்சுண்டு வந்திருக்கயே, அவர் யாரு?” என்று கேட்கிறார்.

”இவர் ஒரு டாக்டர். அவரோட சம்சாரமும், என் மாமாவும் வந்திருக்கோம்” என்கிறார் நாராயணன்.

“அப்படியா அவரை வரச் சொல்லு” என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கூற இவர்கள் முன்னே செல்கின்றனர். தொண்டர்கள் க்யூவில் வந்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் பக்தர்களை இதனால் தடுத்து ஓரம் போகச் சொல்ல ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா “ யாரையும் தடுக்காதே” என்று அனைவருக்கும் தாராளமாக தரிசனம் நல்கிறார்.

கிட்டே நெருங்கிய டாக்டரிடம் “பக்க வாத்தியக்காரன் மாதிரி கையிலே அதென்ன கருவி? என்கிறார்.

“இது ஈ.ஸி.ஜி. கருவி பெரியவா. அன்னிக்கு நான் தரிசனம் செய்ய வந்த போது இதயதுடிப்பு சம்பந்தமா நாராயணன்கிட்டே பேசினதை கேட்டேன். அதனால் எடுத்துண்டு வந்தேன்” என்று டாக்டர் கருவியைப் பற்றி விவரம் சொல்கிறார்.

அந்தக் கருவியை ஜன்னலில் எடுத்து வைத்து அதோடு இணைந்த ரப்பர்  குழாயை டாக்டர் உள்ளே நீட்டுகிறார்.

“இதை என்ன செய்யணும்?” ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கேட்க இன்ன இன்ன இடத்தில் பசையில் ஒட்டிக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று டாக்டர் சொல்கிறார்.

“யாரும் தொடாம நானா ஒட்டிக்கலாமோ?”

“தாராளமாக”

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா பொருத்திக் கொள்கிறார். கருவி இயங்குகிறது. டாக்டர் பதிய வைத்த  குறிப்பை சோதித்துவிட்டு “ ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா வயதுக்கு ஏற்ப ஹார்ட் கன கச்சிதமாக இயங்குகிறது. ஒரு குறையும் இல்லை” என்கிறார்.

“அது நீ சொல்லித் தான் எனக்கு தெரியணுமோ?” லோசான புன்முறுவலுடன் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கேட்கிறார். டாக்டர் கன்னத்தில் போட்டுக் கொள்கிறார்.

அப்புறம் திசை மாறிப் போகிறது. அரைமணி நேரம் கழித்து, விட்ட இடத்தை தொடுகிறது.

“ஆமாம் சில சமயம் பல்ஸ் மிஸ் ஆகிறது என்கிறார்களே…….அப்படி நாடித் துடிப்பு தப்பலாமோ” என்று பெரியவா கேட்கிறார்.

“இரண்டு மூன்று பல்ஸ் மிஸ் ஆனா தப்பில்லை” என்கிறார் டாக்டர். அப்போது அங்கே இருந்த வெங்கிடி டாக்டர் இடைமறித்து “எங்க அண்ணாவுக்கு ஏழெட்டு பல்ஸ் கூட மிஸ் ஆகிறது. சௌக்கியமாகத்தான் இருக்கார்” என்கிறார்.

அப்போது ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா சொல்கிறார். “இதிலேயிருந்து என்ன தெரியறது? எது ‘மிஸ்’ ஆனாலும் நாமே ‘மிஸ்’ ஆகாமல் நம்மைப் பார்த்துக் கொள்ள ஒருவன் இருக்கிறான் இல்லையா”

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கேள்வி எல்லோரையும் மௌனமாக்குகிறது.

“உடம்புக்கு ஒன்றுமில்லையே என்கிறோம். உடம்பைப் பார்த்துக்கோ என்கிறோம். யார் உடம்பை யார் பார்த்துக்கிறது? உயிர் பிரிந்தால் உடம்பைப் பார்த்துக் கொள்ள முடியுமா? உடலையும் உயிரையும் பார்த்துக் கொள்கிறவன் அவன். அவனன்றி ஓர் அணுவும் அசையாது என்கிறோமே, அவன்தான் பெரிய வைத்தியன். வைத்யோ நாராயணோ ஹரி என்று அதனால் தான் சொல்கிறோம். அவன் உடம்பையும் பார்த்துக் கொள்வான். உடம்புக்கு உடம்பு வராமலும் பார்த்துக் கொள்வான். உடம்பே வரமாலும் – பிறப்பு – இறப்பு இல்லாமலும் பார்த்துக் கொள்வான். அவன் தந்த உடம்புக்கு ஏதாவது நோய் நொடி வந்தால் உங்களைப்  போன்ற டாக்டர் பிணி தீர்த்து உதவுகிறீர்கள். அதனாலே இங்க பணி பெரிசு. எல்லோரும் ஜீவனம் நடத்த பொருள் வேணும். அதனாலே சக்தி உள்ளாவாகிட்ட பீஸ் வாங்கி சக்தி குறைவா சக்தி இல்லாதவாகிட்டே பீஸ் வாங்காம, அல்லது குறைவா வாங்கி ஜீவனோபாயத்துக்கு வழி செஞ்சிக்கலாம். அப்போ எல்லோரும் பிரம்மானந்தமாக வாழ முடியும், என்ன நான் சொல்றது?” என்று ஒரு அர்த்தம் தொனிக்கும் புன்னகையோடு அந்த சென்னை டாக்டரை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா நோக்குகிறார்.

டாக்டர் சாஷ்டாங்கமாக நமஸ்கரிக்கிறார்.  அவர் பக்கத்தில் நின்ற அவர் மனைவியும் நமஸ்கரிக்கிறார்.

“இவள் உன் சம்சாரமோ……..பயப்படாதே……..உனக்கு பரம சேஷம் உண்டாகும்”. என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஆசி கூறியவுடன் டாக்டரின் மனைவியின் முகத்தில் பயம் அகன்று பிரகாசமாயிற்று. அவளை விட்டு ஏதோ செய்வினை பறந்தாற்போலிருந்தது. அதை வேண்டிக் கொள்ள நினைத்து வந்திருந்தவருக்கு கேட்காமலேயே ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அனுக்ரஹித்து விட்டார். இப்படி டாக்டரை வரவழைத்து உபதேசம் செய்ததில் ஏதோ சூட்சமம் இருக்க வேண்டும்.

“எல்லோரும் பிரம்மானந்தமாக வாழமுடியும் என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கூறி நிறித்திவிட்டு டாக்டரைப் பார்த்து புன்னகைத்ததில் ஒரு ஆச்சர்யம் இருந்தது. முன்பின் தெரியாத ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் பெயரை சொல்லாத டாக்டரிடம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா “பிரம்மானந்தம்” என்கிறார். எல்லோருக்கும் பிரம்மானந்தம்.

“உன் பெயர் என்ன சொன்னே? என்கிறார். டாக்டர் கண்களில் நீர் பனிக்க “பிரம்மானந்தம்” என்கிறார். எல்லோருக்கும் பிரம்மானந்தம். எல்லோருக்கும் பிரம்மானந்தம் நல்கி, சகல சௌபாக்யங்களையும், ஆரோக்கிய வாழ்வும் மங்களங்களையும் அள்ளி வழங்கும் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவாளை சரணடைவோமாக.

Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyavaal Mahimai (10-4-2012)

“Brahmanandam”

Shri Mahaperiyava, who is the avatar of Shri Adi Shankara, due to His kindness, to bless all the people, like a Sugabrahma Rishi Saint, took avatar as Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyava, walked this earth and blessed us.

In this newsletter, we will hear the experience of Dr. Veezhinathan, a Sanskrit Professor and an ardent devotee of Periyava (Thank you: Mahaperiyavaal Darisana Anubavangal).

Periyava was camping at Thenambakkam Sivasthanam during those times. He used to give darshan through the window. Dr. Veezhinathan’s son in law Shri Narayanan had gone for Periyava’s darshan and was waiting there surrounded by many other devotees.

Periyava chanting Vishnu’s name said “Narayana” in a casual way. Narayanan who was standing nearby responded “Why” in a high tone voice. Periyava called Srimath Narayanan and the Vishnupuram Narayanan responded.

Periyava smiled and asked, “Oh, are you here only? Do you about heart? Do you know how it keeps beating all the time like a clock?”

Narayanan understood that there is something behind this question and stood in silence.

“Is the heart beating like a clock or did they invent the clock after seeing the heart beats?” Periyava asked. Everyone present there did not know how to respond to this question.

“If the gear system in the clock does not function properly, the beats are not proper. The clock either runs fast or slow. Once it is fixed, the clock starts showing the correct time. Similarly, it looks like the heart also beats. Do you know?” Periyava asked as if He did not know anything.

“Yes. We have heard that there could be problems in heart like that.” Everyone present there answered together.

After the darshan, Narayanan comes out and takes a bus to Chennai. The passenger sitting next to him asks if he is from Chennai. Narayanan says yes to the passenger.

The passenger then tries to buy ticket for Narayanan too. Narayanan did not prefer a stranger to purchase ticket for him and so buys his ticket himself.

The passenger then said to Narayanan, “Please do not mistake me. I had also come for Periyava’s darshan and I heard the questions that Periyava asked you. I am a doctor and heart specialist. I do not know why Periyava asked those questions, but if He is ok, I can get an ECG machine. If He is ok, I can check His ECG.

Narayanan was not fascinated by that idea. But the doctor repeated that there should be some reason for Periyava discussing that and convinced Narayanan about his idea.

It was a Thursday. Narayanan, the doctor and his wife started to Veezhinathan’s house. There Narayanan introduced the doctor to his father in law and told him that they have the ECG machine in the car and they are going for Periyava’s darshan. He also requested Veezhinathan to accompany them. Even though Veezhinathan was not convinced, he went along with them in the interest of having Periyava’s darshan.

When they reach, they see a long queue already waiting for Periyava’s darshan. Narayanan approached a sippanthi close to Periyava and told him about the ECG machine. The sippanthi was not convinced and thought that it did not really make sense to check Periyava because He had talked about heart that day. So he was not ready to tell this to Periyava. He asked them to tell this themselves to Periyava.

No one speaks for some time. Narayanan, the doctor, his wife and Veezhinathan all are standing at the same place. At that time, Periyava takes His seat near the window.

Periyava said, “Today doctor Venkiti should be coming”. Doctor Venkiti lived in Kanchipuram and was a local doctor who was Periyava’s devotee and also took care of Periyava’s needs.

As Periyava was asking about Venkiti doctor, the Chennai doctor and others who were standing at the end of the queue realized this as a blessing. Doctor Venkiti visited Periyava every Thursdays.

The Sippanthi nearby replied to Periyava, “Today is Thursday, so the doctor should be coming.”  As Periyava was asking them to inform the doctor to come, Venkiti reached that place.

“Periyava was just asking to call you and you have come.” The sippanthi told Venkiti. Periyava sees Narayanan and then asks him who had come along with them.

“He is a doctor, this is his wife and this is my father in law.” Narayanan introduces everyone to Periyava.

Periyava asks every one of them to come nearby. As they were moving forward, the sippanthi tried to clear the devotee queue. Periyava asked him not to disturb the queue and gave darshan to everyone there. When the doctor came near Periyava, He asked what that is in the doctor’s hands.

“This is an ECG machine. Since You were talking about hear beat to Narayanan the other day, I have brought this machine.” Doctor informed Periyava.

The doctor keeps the ECG machine in the window and then extends the tube inside. “What should I do with this?” Periyava asks.

Doctor asks Periyava to stick them to His body. As Periyava asks if He can do it all by Himself, the doctor replied affirmatively.

Periyava fixes them and the ECG starts to capture the heartbeat. The doctor looks at the ECG report and says that Periyava’s heart is working perfectly fine and appropriate to His age. “Should I come to know this only from you?” Periyava asks with a smile. The doctor pats his cheek as if to say that is a mistake. The conversation floats away to some other topic and comes back to heart beat after half an hour.

“They say that sometime the pulse skips a beat. Is it ok?” Periyava asks.

Doctor replies, “If two or three pulses are missed, it is ok.” Doctor Venkiti stops and says that his brother usually skips about seven to eight pulses, but he is ok and does not have any problem.”

On hearing this Periyava replies, “So that means even if something misses, there is someone who will make sure that we are not missed altogether.”

Everyone remained silent for some time.

Periyava continued, “We often say there is nothing wrong with the body or take care of your body. Who looks after whose body? If someone loses their life, can they look after their body? It is God who looks after both life and the body. We also say that without God, nothing in this world moves. He is the ultimate doctor. That is the reason we also call Him as “Vaidhyo Narayano Hari”. He will look after us and also make sure we are healthy. He will also make sure we do not get caught in the birth – death cycle. Doctors in this world like you help the body that is given by God and that is the reason your profession is noble. Since the doctors also need money for leading their life, they could get money from people who can pay and not charge any fees from those who cannot afford it. Does everyone agree that all of us can live with “Brahmanandam”?” Periyava looked at the doctor and smiled as he completed the sentence.

The doctor and his wife prostrate before Periyava.

“Is she your wife? Do not worry. You will be blessed.” Periyava blessed the couple and the wife felt very happy. It was as if all her worries flew away. Even without her telling her problems, Periyava had blessed her and fulfilled her wishes. Periyava also had explained in an easier manner the dharma that the worldly physicians have to follow. Should there not be something in bringing this doctor back and explaining all this?

When Periyava had said that everyone can live with Brahmanandam, He had looked at the doctor and smiled. Why did Periyava smile at a doctor whose name He had not heard before?

Periyava then asks the doctor, “What did you tell your name was?”

The doctor replied with tears rolling down his eyes, “Brahmanandam”.

Let us all surrender at the feet of Periyava and be blessed with Brahmanandam, happiness and good health.

Grace will continue to grow.
