குறிப்பிட்ட தேதியில் வேத சம்மேளனம் நடை பெற்றது. உபநிஷத் ஆஸ்ரமத்தில் அப்போதெல்லாம் திரு. சீனு தீக்ஷிதர், சுப்புணி சாஸ்திரிகள் தான் முக்கிய கார்யங்களை எடுத்து நடத்துவது வழக்கம். நான்கு வேத பாராயணம், அதிலே பல பிரிவுகள் (சாகை), மாலை நேரங்களில் வேத நிபுணர்களால் உபன்யாசம், சம்ஹிதை, பதம், க்ரமம், ஜடை, மாலா, ரதோ, கணம், வர்ணக்கிரமம் என்று பல விதப்பட்ட பிரிவுகளைப் பற்றி பொது ஜனங்களுக்காக கூறுவது எனபது போல உபன்யாசம் நடக்கும். சம்மேளனத்தின் முடிவில் ஹோமம், சம்பாவனை முதலியவும் உண்டு. அந்த வருடம் உபநிஷத் ஆஸ்ரமத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. பெரியவ ஸ்ட்ரிக்டா வேறு யாரையும் கூப்பிடவேண்டாம் என்று உத்தரவும் போட்டார். பிறகு அவருடைய கேம்ப் சூலூர் பேட்டைக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டது.
விபரீத காலம் விதி விளையாடியது என்று தான் சொல்ல வேண்டும். சில க்ருஹஸ்தர்கள் கூடி கடைசி நாளன்று தாம்பரத்திலிருந்து ஒரு ஸ்வாமிகளை அழைத்தார்கள். ஹோமம் முடிந்தவுடன் நாங்கள் கலசங்களுடன் பெரியவாளிடம் சென்றோம். மதியம் ஒரு மணி இருக்கும். பெரியவா ஊர் கொட்டகையிலே அமர்ந்திருந்தார். நாங்கள் அனைவரும் கை கட்டி நின்று கொண்டிருந்தோம்.
மெதுவா பெரியவா ஆரம்பித்தார், “சம்மேளனம் நன்னா நடந்திருக்குமே! யார் தலைமை தாங்கினா?”
எங்களுக்கு சுருக் என்று முள் தைத்தாற்போல இருந்தது. எங்கோ நடந்தது பெரியவாளுக்கு தெரிந்துடுத்தே. ஒருவரையொருவர் பார்த்துக் கொண்டோம்.
“எங்கள் ஏற்பாடு இல்லை. க்ருஹஸ்தாள் எல்லாம் சேர்ந்துண்டு குழப்பிட்டா” என்றோம்.
அப்போதும் பெரியவா சமாதனம் ஆனா மாதிரி தெரியலை. கடைசியாக தீர்த்தத்தை அபிஷேகம் செய்து கொண்டார். மௌனமாக இருந்து விட்டார்.
இரண்டு தினங்கள் கடந்தன. மூன்றாம் நாள் பேப்பரிலே, அந்த ஸ்வாமிகள் ஏதோ கேசுலே அரெஸ்ட் ஆகிவிட்டார் என்று வந்தது. முன் கூட்டியே இப்படி நடக்கும் என பெரியவாளுக்கு தெரிந்தும், காலம் பதில் சொல்லட்டும் என விட்டு விட்டார்.
என்னே அவருடைய தீர்க்க தரிசனம்!!!

In one of the speech i suppose it was of Shri Guruvayurappam of New Jersey at the time of calling Dr SRAMANIAN SWAMY, for a speech on the reasons for the arrest of acharyaal , mentioned that MAHAPERIYVAAL appeared in the dream of one lady and told her that HE ( PUDU PERIYAVAAL) HAD TAKEN THE ILLS WHICH HAD FALLEN ON THE BHARATHA VARSHA. ( NATTUKU VANDHA KEDUTHALAI THAAN YETRUKONDAAR)

i had already stated that this forum is not to critisize or writing anything about any periava. this mutt is great and if one wants to know about it they should read the story of sri bhodendral. once explaining how pudu periava got the name jayendrar (which means eighteen in sanskrit) he gave eighteen reasons and some the main reasons are that it was not only in jaya year that things happened good, it was then the court case against mutt in supreme court was won and how pudu periavas entry brought laurels to the mutt. anyone may talk anything about pudu periava but his greatness remains though it cannot be compared with periava. if periava is god then pudu periava is god incarnation. even today i would stand testimony to the fact that whoever wants good, gets it from pudu periava and HH still maintains that. what good he has done to Hinduism is yet to be written in volumes. let me state that this great peetathipadi of this mutt has travelled throughout india by walk!!!!! i know this because i have accompanied him to many places by walk. while anyone with a dhanda and kavi vastram is to be respected, kanchi mutt is to be respected more since since it has a long outstanding history. i appreciate sundar iyers comments that none of us in this present day world of materialistic society is fit to comment about this great mutt and mahesh should make it clear that this site is not to vent grievances or express opinions but only facts (which many of us are ignorant). i am sorry for this long comment but somehow i am unable to withstand any comment about puduperiava or periava or for that matter any Mutt or religious matters. Renganathans comments are to say the least is most unpalatable and shows his knowledge of english when he says ‘affairs’

I think that I have not thought of such harsh reply.I had to say in humble words that I have more respect towards MAHAPERIAVA as well as towads Kanchi mutt which HIS HOLINESS presided. I had the privilage to stay in kanchi mutt for more than 3 weeks when I had EKANTHA DHARISANAM of both PERIAVA and PUDHUPERIYAVA.almost daily when I was 10 years old.Periava liked to converse with me as a child.As advised by HIS HOLINESS I had Vedhadhyayanam .I had some doubt but I didn”t find humble and pleasing words to put.That is where I have gone wrong.Anyhow I thank all who tried to put me in correct track.

Sri Mahaperiyavaa would not definitely like somebody being described the way you have done (don’t want to repeat). Let us recall the story of how He reacted when some Nasthikar wrote a very nasty letter to him after Sri Mahaperiyavaa gave a sloka (Maithreem Bhajatha) to Smt MS to be sung at UN. The very same Sri. Ra. Ganapathi was direct witness as to how Sri Mahaperiyavaa handled the nasty letter with absolute equipois and in fact self deprecated Him telling who He is to advise the world !
Sri Ranganathan must have definitely used appropriate salutation while mentioning about Sri Pudu Periavaa but let us not make our comments too strong to make it “equally” unpalatable.
I am a regular visitor to your site and our family is extremely devoted to Sri Maha Periavaa and the present Sri Acharyas. I have personally benefited from Sri. Mahaperiyavaa from a long standing ailment more than three decades back.
I am sure we will (including me) develop more tolerance towards criticisms which Sri. Mahaperiyavaa Himself stated as the BIGGEST VIRTUE OF HINDUISM.
Thanks for the reply. I get very angry when normal people like us criticizes sanyasis – let that be Pudhu Periyava or anyone..We simply dont have the qualification to do that. Also, clearly I have not matured at all – that reflects on the choice of words in my response – I apologize for that.
Dear Renganathan – There are many instances in our puranic lore to highlight such instances. For eg. Sri Rama’s travails, Pandavas undergoing miseries, many insults that Sri Krishna faced etc. What about Sri Ramanuja’s difficult times? Can you quote one historic or puranic great personality who did not face any issue at all and their entire life was a bed of roses?
If so, what lesson can they pass on to common man?If anyone casts aspersions on Sri Pudu periyava or Sri bala periyava, it is the same as insulting mahaperiyava. The personality difference is only external manifestation and not actual. What we need to learn is – did we ever see Sri Pudu periyava or Sri Bala periyava get tense / afraid or react in a mundane manner even in such adversity? That itself is ample proof of their Gnana.Can you keep talking about relative merits and demerits of each avatar of vishnu and keep insulting one at the cost of praising another? Do you think God will take this sycophancy as true bhakti? Each role is taken up as per the prevalent situation and God’s calculations on such role play is not within our grasp. Hope we all try to understand the big picture and elevate ourselves through true Bakthi.
Periyava was fully aware of everything that was going to happen but yet he delineated himself to prove that he is a Jeevan Mukhthan, one who is not affected by whatever happens around him. Hope Mahesh publish this…..

show some respect when writing things. dont EVER call acharyas with their names – you are accumulating more sins. Finally “how he is not aware” – this statement itself tells me that you know nothing about Mahaperiyava – Mahaperiyava is sarvagyan, sarvavyaapi….He knows all.. “Is it God’s order…” – tells me that you think Mahaperiyava is different from God…i originally thought of responding to you in private but changed my mind to do it in public.
i dont know how mahesh ignored my earlier message of periava that he is a deergadeersi and knows all. i have already written as the first comment that when ra ganapathi was weeping before periava about pudu periava spending solititude in talakaveri HH mentioned why should you weep and bother about this. i will not be there but you will be there to see what is happening mutt in later times when police enters etc.etc. Mutt is different and anything that happens happens for good and also as already ordained. though poorvakarma and aagami karma is supposed to go away along with sanyas it does nt go in full. more over periava once casually laughling indicated that if not seven and half years it may be at least seven and half ghatis. dont you know the story of shiva and easwara, he pointed out laughingly. similarly the mutt had to have those three and half days!!!!

Nowadays, threat to our sanathana dharma is not from other faiths, but only from ANTI HINDU HINDUS. I feel strongly.
If at all we want regain our lost respect, we have to stop disrespecting our own faith, saints, religious institutions. Not only this is suffice, but also to observe the sastras whole-heartedly without letting our mind hither and thither. Then only good things can happen.
