‘பூர்த்தம்’ என்பது என்னவென்றால், அதுதான் தற்காலத்தில் ரொம்பப் பேர் நம் மதத்தில் இல்லாதது என்று நினைக்கிற ஸோஷல் ஸர்வீஸ். கிணறு-குளம் வெட்டுவது, ரோடு போடுவது, கோயில் கட்டுவது முதலிய ஸமூஹப் பணிகளுக்குப் ‘பூர்த்தம்’ என்று பேர். இஷ்டம் செய்யச் சில பேருக்குத்தான் அதிகாரம் உண்டு. அது ரொம்பக் கஷ்டம்கூட! நியமங்கள் ஜாஸ்தி. பூர்த்தம் இப்படியில்லை. பாமர ஜனங்களிலிருந்து ச்ரௌதிகள் வரையில் ஏழை-பணக்காரன், அந்த-ஜாதிக்காரன் இந்த ஜாதிக்காரன் என்கிற பேதம் கொஞ்சம்கூட இல்லாமல் ஸகல ஜனங்களும் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து பண்ண வேண்டியதே “பூர்த்தம்”. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

“Poortham” refers to something that many people think is not present in our religion-social service, Activities like digging a well or a pond, constructing a road or building a temple and similar socially oriented activities are grouped under Poortham. Only certain persons are entitled to perform Ishti and incidentally, it is quite difficult too, due to the various rules and regulations.
