கோஹத்தித் தடுப்புச் சட்டம் எவ்வளவு சீக்கிரத்தில் முடியுமோ அவ்வளவில் கொண்டு வர
வேண்டியதே. அது அரசாங்கத்தார் பண்ண வேண்டியது. ஆனால் அதோடு முடிந்து விடாமல் மக்கள் கடமை என்றும் ஒன்று இருக்கிறது. அது கோ ஒரு நாளும் ஒட்டி உலர்ந்து நிற்க விடாமல், அதற்கு வேண்டிய அளவு தீனி போட்டும், ஸுகாதாரமான கொட்டில்களில் வாழுமாறு வைத்தும் ஸம்ரக்ஷிப்பதே. பல காலமாக கோஹத்திக்கு அரசாங்கத் தரப்பில் தடுப்புச் சட்டம் போட வேண்டும் என்று பல பேர் வற்புறுத்தி, கிளர்ச்சியெல்லாங்கூடப் பண்ணி வருகிறார்களே தவிர மக்கள் தரப்பில் கோஸம்ரக்ஷணைக்கு என்னவெல்லாம் பண்ண வேண்டுமோ அதை வற்புறுத்தி விசேஷமாக எதுவும் சொல்லவோ செய்யவோ இல்லை. இந்த விஷயத்தில் நானே என் கடமையை ஸரிவரப் பண்ணவில்லை. நம் கடமை என்ற இந்த அம்சத்தை அழுத்தி எடுத்துக் காட்ட வேண்டுமென்றுதான் எதிர்த்தரப்பாரின் குற்றச் சாட்டிலும் நியாயமில்லாமலில்லை என்று சொன்னேன். மொத்தத்தில் அரசாங்கச் சட்டம் அவச்யம்தான்; அதே அளவுக்கு மக்கள் உரிய முறையில் கோக்களை அவற்றின் கடைசிக் காலம் வரையில் நன்கு நடத்த வேண்டியதும் அவச்யம் என்றே சொல்ல வந்தேன். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்

The law of prevention of cow slaughter is something that should be brought as soon as possible. That is something to be done by the government. But it doesn’t end there and there is something that has to be done by the people too – the duty of every citizen. It is to feed the cows sufficiently without letting them wither in starvation and to preserve them in cowsheds under heigenic conditions till their natural death. A lot of people have been fighting for quite a long while and even resorting to strikes and demonstrations to pressurize the government to enforce law against cow slaughter but no special effort or activity whatsoever has been taken to educate the common masses and to empahasize their role in the preservation of cows. Regarding this issue, I feel even I myself haven’t executed my duty properly. It is to stress this aspect namely “our duty” that I went on to say that there is some fairness in the accusations of our opponents too. To sum it up, the proclamation of the law by the government is indeed essential; but I’m trying to say that it is equally important on the part of the people also to treat the cows well till the end of their lives. – Jagadguru Chandrasekharendra Saraswathy Swamigal
