Gowdas; Dravidas

India is divided into two regions with the entire half lying north of Vindhyas being known as Gowdadesh (गौडदेश) and the entire half to the south of Vindhyas as Dravidadesh (द्रविडदेश).  Further, Gowdadesh is divided into five regions, known as Pancha Gowda.  Dravidadesh is divided into five regions as Pancha Dravida.  The Pancha Gowdas include Kashmiris in the extreme north – also known as Sarasvaths (सारस्वत), Kaanya Kubjas (कान्यकुब्ज) in Punjab and UP, Maithilis (मैथिल) in Nepal and Bihar and Utkalas (उत्कल) in Orissa.  Apart from these four are the Bengalis in Bengal, with the original name of Gowdas (गौड). The Pancha Dravidas comprise of those starting from Gurjars (गुर्जर) in Gujarat, Maharashtrians, Andhras, Karnatakas and lastly, the Tamils – with the original name of Dravidas.  (The language Malayalam had originated only one thousand years ago as a combination Tamizh and Sanskrit, and hence is not specifically mentioned here).  There is a coincidence here.  Bengalis, who primarily remained as Gowdas and the Tamils, who primarily remained as Dravidas, were the first ones, who, before anybody else, learnt English, and became clerks to the white men!

Sri Sri Dakshineshwara Kali Mandir dedicated to Bhagavati Bhavatarini Mata, where Sri Ramakrishna Parahamsa and Sri Sri Sarada Ma enacted their divine lila

this temple is built in the style of a bangali hut, with the roofs of thatch, known as chaal, hence, 4 roofs are a chaar-chaalaa or chou-chaalaa, 8 roofed mandir an aat-chaalaa style. Such temples built to the style of a village hut are a specific style of bangali temple architecture.

SriSri Belur Math : designed by Srimat Swami Vievekananda to enshrine the asthi of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa and to incorporate the themes of all the major religions present in India: Hindu, the “Saracenic” architectural style as it is known in architectural lingo, and so forth.

Regarding GAUDA, Panini went around Bharat Mata in a bullock cart to personally collect and understand the dialectical changes that had accumulated in bhAShA, before compiling his 4000 meta-rules that gave rise to SamskRta.

In Bangabhumi he noted the centrality of the sugar date palm, Phoenix sylvestris, and the gur-rice economy. In the Tamil country, the Borassus flabellifer palm, taal, was the backbone of the Tamil civilization, just the other major sugar palm, the khejur, P. sylvestris was the backbone of the civilization in Bangabhumi.

Panini attested that the name GAUDA was indeed derived from the term GUDA, and Bangabhumi was synonymous with GAUDA for all practical purposes; gaude prakAshitA vidyA is an unchallenged dictum in the shAkta Agamas and the extreme purity of the vAmAchara is not well-understood outside this region. I do know what the southern scholars write about the vamachara but they are not practitioners and no practitioner of worth will write, talk or draw attention. They shut up, become invisible, and disappear. All the nonsense that is heard is purely that, nonsense.

The most holy Bhairavi Brahmani, one of the gurus sent by the Mother Bhavatarini to instruct Sri Ramakrishna in the full gamut of the 64 tantras was such absolutely pure vamachari and kaula. There are many such, and they ALL are perfectly anonymous, perfectly invisible, with very few notable exceptions like the holy Brahmananda Giri who loomed larger than life, lived always dramatically, and carved part of the “mask” or “face” of the holy Mother Kali at Sri Sri Kaliksetra at Kalighat.
