You spend so much on many things and pay many taxes. For me, can you all at-least spare Rs. 1 every month  for Veda Rakshanam? In Srimad Bhagwatham we hear that how Vaamana Murthy begged to Bali Chakravarthi for 3 foot land. Periyava’s ask above painfully reminds me of this.  Sri Periyava’s ‘My Mission’ is truly mind boggling……

Note –  Our Sri Matam has a separate Veda Rakshanam kainkarayam. Similarly, our blog supports Veda Rakshana initiatives quite often. The Rs. 1 per month Veda Rakshanam scheme was told by Sri Periyava in the early 50’s.     Considering the inflation and other factors lets introspect ourselves and fulfill Periyava’s wish on a consistent basis.

என் காரியம் (Part 5)

எங்கேயோ யாரோ ஒருத்தர் நான் சொல்வதை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டால் போதும். அதுவே துளித்துளியாக வளர்ந்துவிடும். கொஞ்சம்கூட நியாயமில்லாத இயக்கங்களையெல்லாம் பத்துபேர் கூப்பாட்டில் ஆரம்பித்து மகாபெரிசாக வளர்ந்துவிடவில்லையா? நல்லதற்கு இப்படிப் பத்துப்பேர் சேர்ந்தால் போதும்.

அப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் கிடைப்பார்கள் என்று நம்பிக் கொண்டுதான் நானும் விடாமல் சொல்கிறேன். உங்களிடமெல்லாம் நான் ரொம்பவும் அதிருப்திப்படுவதாக நினைத்துத் துக்கப்பட வேண்டாம். நவீன வாழ்க்கை முறையின் சிக்கல், கோளாறு எனக்குத் தெரியாமலில்லை. அதிலே மாட்டிக் கொண்டால், விடுபடுவதில் உள்ள சிரமம் தெரிகிறது. இத்தனைக்கும் நடுவில் அங்கங்கே கும்பாபிஷேகம், பஜனை, பிரவசனம் என்று நீங்கள் நிறைய ஏற்பாடு செய்வதைப் பார்த்தால் – இவை நாளுக்கு நாள் அதிகமாகிக் கொண்டிருப்பதைப் பார்த்தால் – சந்தோஷமாகவே இருக்கிறது. இவற்றைப் பார்த்தே, இவை எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் எது ஜீவாதாரமோ, உயிர் நிலையோ அந்த வேதரக்ஷண தர்மத்தை எடுத்துச் சொல்லலாம் என்று எனக்கே ஒரு நம்பிக்கை, தெம்பு வந்திருப்பதால்தான் இதையெல்லாம் சொல்கிறேன். சாஸ்திர விரோதமான தப்புகளுக்கு இப்போது நிறைய இடமிருந்தாலும், வருங்காலம் என்ன ஆகுமோ என்ற விசாரத்துக்கு நிறைய இடம் இருந்தாலும், க்ஷேமத்துக்கான அறிகுறிகளையும் அங்கங்கே பார்க்கிறேன், ‘எல்லாம் போய்விட்டது; பாக்கியிருப்பதும் போய்விடும்’ என்று அழாமல் வளர்ந்து வருகிற இந்த நல்ல அம்சங்களை மேலும் விருத்தி செய்து, வளர்க்க வேண்டியதையும் எடுத்துச் சொல்லி வருவதுதான் முறை; அப்படிச் செய்தால் தப்பு வழியில் போகிறவர்களுக்கும் நாளடைவில் க்ஷேம வழியில் புத்தி வரும்.

இந்த நம்பிக்கையோடு பழைய வழிமுறைகளைக் காதில் போடுகிறேன். ‘பழையது’ என்பதற்காகவே அதுதான் உயர்த்தி என்று சொல்லவேயில்லை. ஆனால் ‘பழையது’ என்பதாலேயே அது உதவாதது என்று ஒதுக்கிவிடவும் கூடாது. புதிசு, பழசு என்பதால் ஒன்று வேண்டும், வேண்டாம் என்பதேயில்லை. அதன் பிரயோஜனம் என்ன என்பதைப் பரீட்சித்துப் பார்த்தே எடுத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். அல்லது தள்ள வேண்டும். அல்லது இருக்கிற புதிசையும் எடுத்துக் கொள்வோம். தப்பாக இருக்கிற பழசைத் தள்ளுவோம். அப்படியே புதிசில் இருக்கிற கெட்டதுகளைத் தள்ளுவோம். பழசில் இருக்கும் நல்லதுகளை எடுத்துக் கொள்வோம். காளிதாசன்கூட இப்படித்தான் சொல்கிறான்.

ஆசையாகக் கூப்பிட்டு எனக்கு உபசாரம் செய்கிற உங்களிடம், முதலில் உங்களுடைய புது வழிகளில் இத்தனை கெடுதல் இருக்கிறது என்று சொல்ல எனக்கே மனசு வரவில்லைதான். மற்ற விஷயங்களைப் பற்றி உபந்நியாசம் செய்தேன். பக்தி, ஞானம், கலாச்சாரம், ஊர்க்கதை எல்லாம் சொன்னேன். அதெல்லாம் நல்ல விஷயங்கள்தான். ஆனாலும் அவை எல்லாம் கிளை, பூ, பழம், மாதிரி என்றால், அவற்றுக்கெல்லாம் ஆதாரமாக ஒரு வேர் இருக்கிறது – அது வேதம்தான். வேரான வேதரக்ஷ்ணம் இல்லாமல் வேறு எதுவுமே இல்லை. இதை விட்டுவிட்டு மற்றதைச் சொல்லிப் பயனில்லை. இந்த மூல கைங்கரியத்தைச் சொல்வதென்றால், குறைகளைச் சொல்லத்தான் வேண்டும். மற்ற விஷயங்களைப் பேசிக் கொஞ்ச நாளைக் கழித்தபின், இத்தனை நாள் உங்களில் ஒருத்தனாக பழகிவிட்டதால், எனக்கே உங்களிடம் சிநேகிதம், ஸ்வாதீனம் வந்துவிட்டது. குறையைச் சொல்ல முன்போலத் தயங்கவேண்டாம் என்று வேத விஷயத்துக்கு வந்திருக்கிறேன்.

இந்தக் காரியத்துக்குத்தானே நான் வந்திருப்பதே! என் காரியத்தை எடுத்த எடுப்பில் சொல்லலாமா? என்னை உபசரித்து சந்தோஷப்படுகிற உங்கள் காரியத்தை நீங்கள் முடித்துக் கொண்டுவிட்ட பிறகு, இனிமேல் என் காரியத்தைச் சொல்லலாம் என்று சொல்கிறேன். வேத ரக்ஷணம்தான் அந்தக் காரியம்.

இதற்காக, இத்தனை நாள் உங்களை இத்தனை சிரமப்படுத்தி, இத்தனை பணச்செலவு வைத்தது போதாது என்று விநோபா மாதிரி நானும் ஒரு “ஸம்பத்தி தானம்” கேட்கிறேன். அவரவரும் அத்யயனம் செய்து, தங்கள் பிள்ளைக்கும் செய்விக்க வேண்டும் என்பது ஒரு பக்கம் இருக்கட்டும். இது அவசியம் செய்ய வேண்டியதுதான். அதைவிட அவசியமாக முதலில் செய்ய வேண்டிய காரியம் ஒன்று உண்டு; அதாவது, இப்போது மூச்சைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு நடந்து வருகிற வேத பாடசாலைகள் மூடிப்போகாமல் அவற்றைத் தொடர்ந்து நடைபெறப் பண்ண வேண்டும். இதற்காக வித்யார்த்திகள் (மாணவர்கள்) அத்யாபகர்கள் (ஆசிரியர்கள்) இருவருக்கும் நிதி உதவி செய்ய வேண்டும். இன்னும் பல பாடசாலைகளை வைத்து வேத மூலத்தை சொல்லிக் கொடுப்பது, அப்புறம் அதன் அர்த்தத்தை – வேத பாஷ்யத்தை – சொல்லிக் கொடுப்பது, இவற்றில் பரீட்சை வைப்பது ஆகிய காரியங்களைச் செய்ய வேண்டும். படிக்கிற காலத்தில் வித்தியார்த்திக்கு ஸ்டைஃபண்ட் (உபகாரச் சம்பளம்) கொடுக்க வேண்டும். பரீட்சையில் பாஸ் பண்ணியவுடன் மார்க்கைப் பொறுத்துக் கணிசமான சம்பாவனை செய்ய வேண்டும். இப்படியெல்லாம் செய்தால்தான் வேதம் இருக்கும். இதற்கெல்லாம் மூலதனம் வேண்டும்.

இதற்காக சில டிரஸ்ட்கள் இருக்கின்றன. பலர் தனித்தனியாக பூதானம் செய்திருக்கிறார்கள். விநோபா மாதிரி பூதானம் வாங்கினேன். இப்போது உச்ச வரம்புகள் சட்டங்கள் வந்துவிட்டன. இனி நில உரிமைகள் எப்படியிருக்கும் என்று சொல்வதற்கில்லை. அதனால்தான் ‘ஸம்பத்திதான்’ கேட்கிறேன்.

அதாவது ஒவ்வொருவரும் மாஸா மாஸம் தங்கள் ஜன்ம நக்ஷத்திரத்தன்று என்னை நினைத்துக் கொண்டு (நான் தானே கொடுக்கச் சொல்லிக் கேட்கிறேன்!) ஒரு ரூபாயை ஒரு உண்டியில் போட்டுவிட வேண்டும். ஒரு வருஷம் ஆனதும் இந்த 12 ரூபாயை வேத ரக்ஷண நிதிக்கு அனுப்பிவிட வேண்டும். இப்படி அனுப்புகிறவர்களுக்கு இங்கே மடத்தில் நடக்கிற பூஜைப் பிரசாதம் – விபூதி, குங்குமம், மந்திராக்ஷதை – மாஸா மாஸம் அவர்கள் ஜன்ம நக்ஷத்திரத்தன்று அனுப்பி வைக்கப்படும். வருஷந்தோறும் இந்த தர்மத்தைப் புதுப்பித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தால், சந்திரமௌலீசுவரப் பிரசாதமும் நிற்காமல் அகத்தைத் தேடி வந்துகொண்டிருக்கும்.

எத்தனையோ செலவு செய்கிறீர்கள். வரிகள் (tax) கொடுக்கிறீர்கள். இது நான் போட்டிருக்கிற டாக்ஸ். மாஸம் ஒரு ரூபாய் எனக்காகக் கொடுக்க வேண்டும். எல்லோரும் அப்படிச் செய்தால் பல துளி பெறு வெள்ளம் என்று வேத ரக்ஷணத்துக்கும் பெரிய பலம் கிடைக்கும்.

My Mission (Part 5)

Even if a person somewhere abides by what I say and sets a start, then slowly it will grow. Are there not organizations for unfair causes set in motion by ten and grown big by rhetoric? For a good cause it will be enough if such ten persons join.

Trusting that I may get such persons I keep repeating this. Do not feel bad that I am unsatisfied with you. I am aware of the troubles and confusions of the modern life. It is difficult to get out of these entanglements. In-spite of these you all keep making arrangements for kumbabishekams, bhajans, upanyasams (discourses) and I feel happy about its increase day by day. Seeing this I am motivated and get strength to tell you about the Dharma of Veda Rakshana which forms the base or root of all these activities. Even though Sastras are not followed properly causing  concern about the future, I still see a ray of hope at some quarters. Instead of crying over spilled milk, the need of the hour is to develop the good things that remains and give proper guidance.  Then even those who are following a wrong path will refine gradually.

With this hope I convey to you the time old rituals. It need not be good just because it is ancient; at the same time it should not be disregarded because it is old.  Whether something is old or new is not relevant. How useful it is should be analysed and then accepted or rejected. Take what is good in new and reject what is bad in old and vice versa. Even Kalidasan opines in similar lines.

At the outset I didn’t have a heart to tell you that all your new ways are wrong seeing your reception and hospitality packed with affection. I spoke about Bhakti, Gnanam, Culture and so many other stories which are also beneficial. But they are like flower, fruit, and branch, – root being the Vedas. Without the Vedas, the foundation rest cannot sustain. There is no use talking about rest leaving this out. If I were to speak on the fundamental, I have to point out your defects. Since I passed sometime amidst you talking on various other subjects I had now developed a closer and friendly relationship. I need not now hesitate as before to point out the flaws and hence have come to the subject of Vedas.

I have come exclusively  for this task.

I didn’t  speak about my mission in the start. After you have done the task  of receiving and attending to me and derived happiness , I feel I can now speak about my purpose. It is Veda Rakshanam and only that.

Like Vinoba I seek a ‘Sampatthi Dhanam’ in addition to the expenses and inconveniences you underwent because of me. It is of course required that all should do Veda Adhyayanam and make our progeny follow it. More important than this is to take care to see that the Veda Patasalas which are struggling to run do not get closed. There should be funding for both the teachers and students. More such Veda Patasalas should be set up to teach the Vedas, then bhashya or meaning and then have tests conducted. There should be stipend to the students and adequate prize money award depending on the performance. By doing this the Vedas will be protected and we need funds for this.

There are some trusts for this. Many have given land individually. Like Vinoba I accepted boodhan. But now land ceiling laws are enacted. So I don’t know the fate of ownership of land. So I ask for ‘Sampatthi Dhan’.

Every month each of you on your birth star deposit one rupee in the Hundi thinking of me (I am only asking you to do so). After one year send this twelve rupees to Veda Rakshana Trust. For all contributors Pooja Prasadam such as Vibuthi, Kumkum, and Manthra Akshadai will be sent by Sri Matam every month on their birth star. So by renewing this every year it can be ensured that Chandramowleeswara Prasad also is received continuously at one’s home.

You spend for so many things and pay taxes. This tax is levied by me. Give one rupee monthly for my sake. If all participate in this, just as small drops make an ocean, Veda Rakshana will be greatly strengthened.
