ரிஃபார்ம், ரிஃபார்ம் என்று சொல்வதெல்லாம் கடைசியில் அவரவரும் மனஸ் போனபடி, ஒரு டிஸிப்ளினும் இல்லாமலிருக்கலாம் என்று அவிழ்த்து விடுவதில்தான் முடிந்திருக்கிறது. ரிஃபார்ம்களை ஆரம்பித்து வைத்திருக்கிற எல்லா லீடர்களையும் ஒழுங்கு தப்பினவர்கள் என்று சொல்வதற்கில்லைதான். சாஸ்த்ர, ஸம்ப்ரதாய விதிகளாகிற ஒழுங்குகளில் பலதை இவர்களும் விட்டவர்கள்தான் என்பதால் இவர்களை ஸநாதன தர்ம பீடங்களான மட ஸ்தாபனங்களிலிருக்கிற நாங்கள் ஒப்புக் கொள்ளத்தான் இல்லை. என்றாலும் இவர்கள் Personal life–ல் [தனி வாழ்க்கையில்] ஸத்யம், நேர்மை, ஒழுக்கம், த்யாகம், அன்பு போன்ற பலவற்றைக் கடைப்பிடித்தவர்கள் என்பதை ஆக்ஷேபிப்பதற்கில்லை. ஓரளவுக்குப் படிப்பு, விஷய ஞானம் எல்லாம் உள்ளவர்களாகவும், ஜனங்களை நல்லதில் கொண்டு போகவேண்டும் என்பதில் நிஜமான அக்கறை கொண்டவர்களாகவுமே இந்தச் சீர்திருத்தத் தலைவர்களில் பலர் இருந்திருக்கிறார்கள் என்றும் சொல்லலாம். ஆனாலும் இவர்கள் பண்ணுகிற பெரிய தப்பு என்னவென்றால் தங்கள் புத்திக்கு ஸரியாகத் தோன்றுவதுதான் ஸரி, பாக்கி எல்லாம் தப்பு என்று நினைப்பதுதான். தாங்கள் சுத்தர்கள்தான், விஷயம் தெரிந்தவர்கள்தான் என்றாலும் தர்ம சாஸ்திரங்களை வேத வழிப்பிரகாரம் பண்ணி வைத்த ரிஷிகளும், மநு முதலிய பெரியவர்களும் தங்களைவிடவும் எவ்வளவோ சுத்தர்கள், எவ்வளவோ விஷயம் தெரிந்தவர்கள் என்று உணர்கிற மரியாதை இவர்களுக்கு இல்லை. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்
All attempts at reformation have only ended in creating an utter disregard for discipline in the minds of people. We cannot condemn all the reformist leaders as undisciplined. Madaadhipathis like us who have a responsibility towards the protection of our traditional dharma, of course, do not accord sanction to these leaders because they have given up most of the rules and regulations prescribed by our sastras. But we cannot deny that a majority of these leaders have followed the principles of honesty, good conduct, sacrifice, and love in their personal lives. We can also state that they have been learned, to some extent, and also been motivated by a desire to lead the people in a proper direction. But the greatest mistake they commit is to assume that they know the best and their knowledge is better than that of the others. They do not have the humility to recognize that the though they themselves may be knowledgeable and of good conduct, the ancient sages and great people like Manu who formulated the sastras are way more knowledgeable and pure than themselves. – Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal
