Viswaroopa Darishanam of Mahaperiyava

namavali081

Arjuna asked Lord Krishna to show his real swaroopam. Lord Krishna blessed Arjuna with the darshanam. Arjuna couldn’t withstand that. He fell on Krishna’s feet and requested to be in the normal swaroopam that human can understand . Krishna smiled and did that too. All for Arjuna, His most-preferred sishya.

Here Sri Yogesh S Rajan Iyer, who had the fortune of this century to see who real Periyava is, what is His body made of, what is the dhandam made of, rudraksham made of etc. Even those who have seen so many kainkaryams to Periyava Himself have seen some of the darshanams. For Sri Yogesh, as a result of doing padhuka puja daily, Periyava blessed him with such a wonderful darshanam that one . All this dream resulted in a sanskrit sloka that he compiled on Mahaperiyava and this dream! That too nothing but Periyava’s blessings.

Next time, when you look at Periyava Padhukas, you are seeing all three Periyavas there! When you see dhandam, you see Kamakshi, you see rudraksha, they are all four vedas….All these lead to only one phrase of Periyava “Yen smaranaiyaava iru. Un kshemathai naan paathukaren!”

I am so happy for him and heartfelt thanks to Smt Saraswathi mami for sharing this with me.

Thanks Sriram for the wonderful translation…..

Yesterday Tuesday early morning around 3:30 I had the most unique experience on this earth not possible even if one were to rule the whole world.

I could not know if it was dream or real. It was beyond imagination like the scenes of a movie or stories. I do not have words to describe. So much grace for me?

I could not believe.

I am one of the countless devotees who do Sri Periyava’s paduka pooja with his holiness’s thought alone. I do not know if I have any other special quality.

A sudden ray of light.

How can I narrate All the 70 acharyas of Sri Kamakoti Peetha Guru parampara appearing before me. From Adishankaracharya till the 67th Acharya were on one side and on the other the three periyavas – Sri Charanar, Sri Pudu Periyava and Sri Bala Periyava.

In overflowing Bhakti I am doing the complete eight-anga prostrations to all and the acharyas are blessing me with mangalakshadai one by one.

The scene changes suddenly. From Adi Shankaracharya till the 67th acharya ..all are merging into divine foot and Sri Periyava is adorning that in his head. Next Sri Nadu Periyava and Sri Bala Periyava are transforming into padukas and Sri Periyava is wearing those.

Then Goddess Kamakshi arrives. Mahaperiyava converts her into her staff which he holds in his hand. All the four vedas transform into rudrakshas which Sri Periyava wears in his neck. Did I get a dream or was it real or just my running thoughts? I do not know. My limbs are immovable.

I get up and shout “Shankara”

In memory of this I offer a sanskrit poem to his holiness’s lotus feet.

I do not know if I deserve such grace but I am sure about one thing.

For his devotees who live with his thought alone he merges into them and lives with them forever. This is for sure.

In this juncture when I am looking to go out of station for higher studies I have got such a rare experience. I have still not come out of that ; still relishing the sweetness.

In this way sharing his dream is Mr. Yogesh S. Rajan Iyer.

  8. Great .you are blessed.thanks for sharing.

  9. Reading this itself is a blessed experience.
    Thanks for sharing.

  10. Blessed is you, blessed is everyone who reads…

  11. In the last line of the wonderful sloka, I guess we have to read “eka shana” as
“eka kshana”. In the 4th line from last, “Brahma swaupe” to be read as “Brahma swarupe”. Requesting the blessed author to clarify please.

  12. Mr. Rajan … the journey you are going to embark upon (higher studies) is going to be enlightening for you. I am saying this from my own personal experience. Back in 2002, I didn’t realize my life was going to change soon after that, when I was climbing down from Sabrimala, Pudhu Periayava was ascending neeli mala enroute Sabarimala to offer Rudraksha Mala to Sri Dharma Sastha. He blessed me in very close quarters, as I chanted Jaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara. At that time I was in the US. Due to economy downturn, I ended up pursuing higher studies (dual masters) after a gap of 11 years of studies. By Ayappa’s, Acharyal’s and Kula Deivayam’s blessings, I graduated in flying colors as a full-time student from Boston.

So, it’s only apt or a great nimitham that all the Guru’s have come down together along with Chandramouliswarar and Kamakshi to convey the message that their blessings are with you in the journey you are going to embark upon.

  13. ***An attempted translation. Corrections welcome***

It must have been around 3 a.m. early morning yesterday, a Truesday. A priceless and rare experience it was! Was I dreaming or was I in a wakeful state- I wonder; filled with successive series of images and scenes that defy ones imagination and appear like they have been lifted off a fantastic story or a movie. Words fall short in describing the experience. Was I indeed the recepient of such abundant grace?

I still find it impossible to believe!

Among the devotees of Mahaperiyava who worship His Paadhukas with tremendous devotion to Him, I am also His humble, young servant. I cannot claim any other qualification or special quality besides this.

Suddenly there appeared a flood of light!

Words fail me as I try to describe the scene of all the seventy saints in our Guru’s lineage who appeared therefrom!
The vision comprised sixty seven saints starting from Shri Aadhi Shankara Bhagavathpaadha who stood on one side while Mahaperiyava stood on the other with Pudhu Periyava and Baala Periyava.

I perform saashtaanga-namaskarams to all of Them in an ecstatic state of devotion. Every one of Them blesses me by showering manthraakshatha (sanctified rice grains) on my head!

All of a sudden, there is a change of scene. All the sixty seven saints starting from Shri Aadhi Shankara Bhagavathpaadha merge and transform into Kunchithapaadham. Mahaperiyava places it reverentially on His head.
Pudhu Periyava and Baala Periyava transform into His two paadhukas and He wears them on His feet

Mother-goddess Kamakshi appears and transforms into His Dhandam! Mahaperiyava holds It in His hands! The four Vedas change into Rudhraakshas and Mahaperiyava wears Them around his neck! Was this vision a dream? Was it reality? Or were they my stream of thoughts? I am in no position to comprehend it all. I froze.

I woke up loudly calling out the Lord’s name, ‘SHANKARA’!

With those memories fresh in my mind, I compose a garland of praises and adorn Him!
I am not sure if I am worthy of it all. But one thing is for sure. It is absolute truth that He is one with His devotees who always meditate upon Him, and that He lives with them eternally!

I had this electrifying experience on the eve of my travelling abroad for my higher studies. I am still unable to come over the chilling aftermath of this experience, and continue to relive it in my mind.

Shri Yogesh S. Rajan thus narrated his own experience.

    Jaya Jaya Shankara……
