குரு பௌர்ணமியில் ஞான மகான்கள்!

Thanks Sri Venkatasubramanian for these treasure articles!

Following the previous article, this article is about first time all three Periyavas are observing Chaturmasyam in Karnool, AP.

Tears in the eyes – not just mine – in all eyes who witnessed Mahaperiyava walked into the river for snanam at the ripe age of 90 in very cold weather in the pouring rain!!!

As nicely written, how lucky those local folks in Karnool were!!

It is interesting to note that Balaperiyava’s sanyasa name was originally “Sri Sankara Anandhendhrar” as per this article. There must be some interesting fact behind how that changed later…

Hara Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara!

  1. we need to show restraint while making observations. Comments, though seemingly innocent, should not result in raking up a controversial issues beyond our purview.

  2. Great memories! I had Dharshan of the Three Periyavas on Vijaya Dasami day at Kurnool. Why Bala Periyava’s sanyaasa Naamam changed could be told only by the Periyavas, I think. Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara!

  3. Namaskarams to shri venkatasubramanian.
I am 60 years Darshaning from 1983 onwards Bala peraval., even before my wedding. When I told that his first name is Shankara
Ananendra saraswathi, some Baktha have not at all accepted. I don’t know why real
Bakthas dont want to listen others words.

I read lot of books. When I am pointing out an error based on publications they don’t want to listen. They don’t want to check.

  4. eager to know the why the name got changed.

  5. Exactly, even I have wondered often how Sri Bala Periyava’s thirunamam changed later to Sri Vijayendra Saraswati.
As we all know, even in the beautiful keerthanai sung on the Acharyas by late Maharajapuram Santhanam, he only refers to Sri Bala Periyava as Sri Sankaranandendrar.
How can such a vital matter change? Will anyone clarify please? Thanks

  6. ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா சரணம்
