I was blessed to visit Mahendramangalam – place where Periyava spent few years to learn veda once He became 68th acharya. I saw a paper clipping there with the title of this post. For non-Tamil readers – “Place where Veda learnt veda!!”. The last picture is our sankara matam in Mahendramangalam – very small place – just a room with Sri Adi Shankara and Maheperiyava vigrahams.

May I know if you have any updates on the Chandramouleeswarar temple being constructed here in Mahendramangalam? With Mahaperiyava’s and our Acharyals anugraham, we, the periyava devotees, can work towards to complete the construction and pray to Mahaperiyava for successful completion of Kumbabishekam.

Vedanarayanan and Kamala in 2011 were fortunate to visit Mahendra Mangalam and go to all the places
there connected with the Vedabhyasam of Sri Maha Periyava. Sri Bala Periyava during our visit to Kanchi, for getting anugraham to renovate our ancestral house in Andanallur (Tiruchi) blessed us with His characteristic smile, saying…”‘we are trying to renovate the places in Mahendra Mangalam including the temple. right from Maha Periyava time. We are not yet successful. You visit this place once, and you will be successful. ” My visit was made possible with the thoughtful arrangements done by my nephew in Salem
Dr. Srinivasan, through his Nama Sankeerthana Guru ..Sri Mani Bhagawatar’s Akka Athimber from Mahendra Mangalam. The Chief Priest Br. Sri. Ramam Murthi Sastrigal , took us in a Taxi to all the places connected with Sri Maha Periyava, ..Maha Periyava Vigraham, Padhuka, Adi Sankara temple, the Cauvery River bed,
where the most interesting conversation took place between the Acharya and His Guru… The Siva temple was under renovation then. It was stated that this is the only temple where the names of Iswaran and Devi are Maha Tripurasundari and Chandramauleeswarar, the same names of Sri Kamakoti Matam Pooja deivams. I conclude here, saying….with HH’s Blessings, our long pending project (wish) viz. renovation of our ancestral house was successfully completed within 6 months. We were daily reciting the Tirupugazh
‘Andar pathi kudi yera….’ Sri Ramamurthi Sastrigal also took us to a temple nearby where the deity is named Vedanarayana Perumal…and a powerful and Popular Hanuman in the temple Pillar…..
