முன்னாள் இந்திய ராணுவத் தலைவர் கரியப்பா மகாபெரியவர்களைத் தரிசிக்கக் கலவைக்கு வந்தார். இருவரும் கன்னட மொழியில் கீதையைப் பற்றிப் பேசிக்கொண்டே வந்தார்கள். கடைசியில் கரியப்பா எழுந்து இரு கைகளையும் கூப்பியபடி சொல்லுகிறார்;

Former Chief of Army Kariyappa came to Kalavai to take MahaPeriyava’s Darshan. Both of them spoke in Kannada about BhagavadGeetha.

Eventually, Kariyappa stood up, brought his hands together in a Namaskar and said “Swamiji, I have seen many battles. On the battlefield, I have walked over dead bodies. Not minding day or night, I have (fearlessly) walked around there. I have never known fear at any time then. But in your Holy Presence, words fail to come out my mouth due to fear and awe”

Having said so, Kariyappa stood there, his eyes watering, his fingers trembling and with goose bumps all over his body. Swamigal blessed him kindly and sent him on his way.

  2. This is perhaps re-inaction of the scene in Mahabharatha wherein Arjuna expresses his feelings of distress in the 1st and 11th chapters of Bhagawat Gita.

  3. Field Marshal Gl Kariappa knows Kanchi Mahaswamigal’s Mahimai in his heart and he could not avoid his fear before HH Kanchi Mahaswamigal’s presence. Our Kanchi Mahaswamigal’s blessings and grace give Lt. Gl Kariappa to live a peaceful and healthy life. Thanks to Mahesh Krishnamurthy to give such type of useful and hearttouching messages. Thaniking you. M.Mohan
