லங்காடாவும் குழந்தையும்

ஸ்ரீமடத்தில் பெரியவா தர்ஶனத்துக்கு எப்போதும் போல நல்ல கூட்டம்.

அங்கு வந்திருந்த ஒரு குட்டிப்பையன் என்ன காரணமோ, அழுது கொண்டேயிருந்தான்! அம்மாக்காரி என்னென்னவோ ஸமாதானம் செய்தாலும், எந்த பாச்சாவும் பலிக்கவில்லை. அழுகையும், கத்தலும் ஜாஸ்தியாகத்தான் ஆனதே ஒழிய, குறையவில்லை.

மற்றவர்களுக்கு இது மிகவும் தொந்தரவாகவும் இருந்தது. பெரியவா இருந்ததால், அவர் முன்னாடி அம்மாவையும், குழந்தையையும் மிரட்டவும் முடியாது.

குழந்தைகள் அழுவார்கள், அடம் பண்ணுவார்கள் என்று பலபேர் ஸத்ஸங்கத்துக்கு அவர்களை கூட்டிக் கொண்டு வரமாட்டார்கள். ஆனால், அழுதாலும் பரவாயில்லை என்று ரெண்டு வயஸில் கொண்டு போய் ஸ்கூலில் விட்டுவிட்டு, அதுவும் யாரோ முன்பின் தெரியாதவர்களிடம் விட்டுவிட்டு வரும் போது, ஏன் ஸத்ஸங்கத்துக்கு அழைத்துக் கொண்டு வரக்கூடாது? அப்போதுதான் குழந்தைகளுக்கும் நல்ல பழக்க வழக்கங்கள் வரும். சிறு வயஸில், பிஞ்சு மனஸில் ஸத்விதை ஆழமாக இறங்கி, அவர்கள் ஆயுஸ் பூரா வழி காட்டும், மரமாகி நிழல் தரும்.

இந்தக் குட்டிப் பையனும் ‘தையத்தக்கா‘ என்று கையைக் காலை உதைத்துக் கொண்டு கொஞ்சம் சத்தமாக அழ ஆரம்பித்தான்.

பெரியவா பக்கத்தில் இருந்த பாரிஷதரிடம் கொஞ்சம் உரத்த குரலில் கோபமாக அந்தப் பையனையே முறைத்துப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டே….

“டேய்! கண்ணா…! அந்த ‘லங்கடா‘வை கொண்டு வாடா….! சொல்றேன்!..”

பெரியவா இப்படிச் சொன்ன அடுத்த க்ஷணம்…… பையன் நடுநடுங்கிப் போனான்!

“லங்கடாவா? உம்மாச்சித் தாத்தா ஏதோ, குச்சியையோ, பிரம்பையோ எடுத்துண்டு வரச் சொல்லி, ஓங்கி ரெண்டு… போடப் போறாளோ?… எதுக்குடா வம்பு? அழாம வாயை முடிப்போம்” என்று நினைத்து, பயந்து போய், ‘கப்‘பென்று அழுகையை நிறுத்தி விட்டு, அம்மா பின்னால் ஒளிந்து கொண்டு, லேஸாக பெரியவாளை எட்டிப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.

கண்ணன் என்ற பாரிஷதர் உள்ளே போய், பெரியவா கேட்ட ‘லங்கடா‘ வோடு வந்தார்!

“லங்கடா”வைப் பார்த்ததும், பையனுக்கு கண்கள் ஆசையில் விரிந்தன!

கண்ணன் பெரியவாளிடம் கொண்டு வந்து குடுத்தது, அழகான குண்டு மாம்பழம்! ‘லங்கடா’ என்ற வகையை சேர்ந்தது!

அவர் ரெண்டு நாள் முன்புதான் காஶியிலிருந்து வந்தார். உத்தர ப்ரதேஸத்தில் மட்டும் கிடைக்கும் லங்கடா மாம்பழத்தை, பெரியவாளுக்காக வாங்கிக் கொண்டு வந்தார்.

“இங்க வா!…”

பயமும், ஆசையும் ஒரு சேர பெரியவாளைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த பையனைக் கூப்பிட்டார். நல்லவேளை! பிரம்பு-கிரம்பு எதுவும் இல்லை, மாம்பழம்தான்! என்ற ஆசையில் மெல்ல பெரியவாளிடம் வந்து நின்றான்.

“லங்கடாவை அவன்ட்ட குடு”

பாரிஷதர், குழந்தையிடம் ‘லங்கடா‘ மாம்பழத்தைக் குடுத்ததும், ‘பெரிய குழந்தை’ முகத்திலும், சின்னக் குழந்தை முகத்திலும் ஏக காலத்தில் சிரிப்பு மலர்ந்தது!

Langada and Naughty Child

As usual, there was a huge crowd waiting for Sri Periyava’s darshan.

There was a small child in the crowd.  For some reason, the child was crying.  The mother tried to pacify the child but nothing helped and the child was throwing tantrum screaming and shouting.

It was disturbing the devotees waiting for the darshan.  Because of Periyava’s presence, the volunteers could not go and tell anything to the mother or admonish the child.

Generally parents prefer not to take the children for satsangs for the simple reason that kids tend to make noise and disturb others.  On the other hand, when the parents are ready to leave just two year old crying kids in school with teachers who are total strangers, why can’t they bring to satsangs?  At least bringing them to satsangs would instill good habits in the children.  These good habits are like seeds which would grow into huge trees and guide them.

This little boy was making so much noise and started crying very loud.  Periyava stared at the boy for a minute and said to his disciple in a raised  voice “bring that langada now”.

When the little boy heard Periyava’s raised voice, he got so scared.  “Langada! Looks like Ummachi thatha has asked for cane or something.  Is he going to hit me?  Better to keep quiet”.  Thinking thus, the little boy stopped throwing tantrum.  Hiding from his mother’s back, he was peeping at Periyava.

Disciple Kannan went in and in a few minutes came out with the “langada” that Periyava asked.   Looking at it, the little boy’s eyes widened and face became very bright.  Yes.  Kannan gave to Periyava a very yummy mango belonging to a particular variety of mango called “langada”.

Kannan returned from Kasi just couple of days ago.  He brought this special type mango for Periyava which is available only in Uttarpradesh.

“Come here” called Periyava.  The little boy wanted the mango.  Slowly he went near Periyava.

“Give this langada to the boy” said Periyava.

Kannan gave it to the boy.  The naughty boy turned to Ummachi thatha and flashed a beautiful smile.
