Laying a road is a Dharma. Planting trees constitute another Dharma. We should not only plant new saplings but also ensure that the old trees are not felled. We should water the new saplings and help them grow into trees. What is the point in celebrating “Vana Mahothsavam” if VIPs come and plant trees today and they dry up without care the next day? Such demonstration and hypocrisy will help neither us nor the world. It is better if a person silently removes a thorn or broken glass from a footpath.
