Heavenly father!

Periyava_Dakshinamurthi

With my most humblest pranams to the Mahaswamigal and to Sri Jayendera Swamigal and to Sri Vijeyandra Swamigal I begin to narrate the following:

The incident which I am going to narrate is in response to the Hindu paper advertisement on 06/07/2003.

This anecdote or incident was told to me by my aunty who lives in secunderabad. Though I myself never had the opportunity to see the Perivaa Mahaswamigal, but I always pray to him and seek his Grace by chanting Hara Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara and feel his grace instantly. I have never missed reading any article written about the Maha Swamigal in my newspaper or magazine I came across till today.

Once again I seek the Blessings of the Maha Swamigal before narrating the incident which has taken place in my Aunt’s life.

Last year (2002) my aunt from Secunderabad had come to Chennai for a relatives wedding during which she came and stayed with us. As she had been to a Holy trip with her daughter to Haridwar and Badrinath she was telling us about her spiritual experience. And as the talk progressed she said she always had a desire to see the Mahaswamigal in Kanchipuram but in those days even men had to go in without shirts and women were not allowed.

This yearning to see the Mahaswamigal was so intense that by even hearing his name on looking at the photograph she used to experience bliss. Her father died when she was small so she went to work early.

On one such day as she returned from office someone in her neighbourhood told her that the Mahaswamigal had come to Hyderabad. That was enough for my aunts knowledge she immediately came home, threw her office bag and ran like a child would run to see her father when he comes back after a war.

But when she reached the venue it was made known to her that the Mahaswami had left. This was a lifetime chance for her to see the swami as none else could take her to Kanchipuram and as she was supporting her family she could not think of being absent from office. She went back home and prayed to Shiva Parvati to whom her she prays till today and put forth her demand asking him to give her darshan in the form of the Mahaswamigal.

The next day she went to office as usual but her mind was on the Mahaswami whom she could not see. Looking at her in such a mood her friends found out where the Swamigal were camping.

So while going home that day she decided to go see the Mahaswami at his camp. When she reached there she found that the Mahaswamigal had gone inside and would come out later in the evening and leave for his next destination.

Now my aunt thought if she goes home so late her old mother would get worried and also if she goes home she will miss seeing the Swamigal as he was leaving her city that day. But as luck would have it the Mahaswamigal came out of the room after 30 minutes. During         some press persons and devotees were patiently waiting for the Mahaswamigal to emerge. My aunt was just electrified on seeing him that she was gazing at the Mahaswami not knowing what was in store for her.

After gazing a Darshan to the devotees present the Mahaswamigal gestured at someone in the crowd to come forward near him and he was gesturing to my aunt who did not even realize that her heavenly father the Maha Swamigal was gazing her. Only when other Devotees standing close to her told her then is when she realized and went forward. She says that she felt as if the Earth had moved away below her feet and she was floating. Due to language problem she could not understand what the Mahaswamigal told her, but later when the Swamigal touched her head and blessed her she was in tears. After the Swami left someone who was standing near the swami and was a resident devotee told her that the swami told her that he was longing to see her from years and now they have met and will not meet anymore and blessed her abundantly. It was the previous birth connection that has made us meet, my sister said the swami to my aunt. But my aunt says God knows what his devotees want and when they want. And it has a sincere wish of hers to only see the Mahaswamigal, but she was touched and blessed by the Mahaswamigal.

She did not even think that the Mahaswami will call her and speak to her.Such is the grace of the Mahaswami that he knew there is someone in the crowd outside longing to see him from years and when the time came he gave darshan. A true devotee should have only devotion. Till then he made her run like a child would run to the mother after school is over. People around her even asked her if she was related to the Mahaswamigal she told them – Heavenly father. This incident would have taken place around 1960 she says and truly she could not see the swami again as per his words. She would have been 23 years old at that time.

If any mistake has occurred either knowingly or unknowingly I seek pardon at the feet of the Mahaswamigal.

I wish I could have the darshan of Sri Jayendra Swamigal and Sri Vijayendra Swamigal. They are Antaryamis, they know when I could see them and I will wait till then.

  1. Blessed aunty

  2. this is a wonderful article.whatever be the matter we have to take essence of what is narrated.my humble feeling is discussing about whether he has touched or not is not necessary he has done so many miracles that .we are not qualified to discuss the saint’s actions.the truth is he has touched so many hearts before and after attaining mukti. even now people throng to his brindavan with their grievences and prayers. let us chant god’s namas atleast ten minutes a day as told by him and also follow what he has told in other things and get his blessings. .mahaperiava thiruvadigale charanam.

  3. That is the REAL GRACE
We had an experience in our life
on His stay at Gangana mandapam in Triplocane our younest sister suddenly lost her voice
My father srim Sundaresa I yet an ardent devotee took her to mahaperiva though we all objected
He sprayed viboothi on her and asked her to sing on Kamakshi
    To our wonders she sung
    GREATS ARE BORN RARELY

  4. Mahanngallin Seigaigal nam Arivikku ettaadhadhu. Jaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara.

  5. Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara! Maha Periyava ThiruvadigaLee CharaNam!

  6. Every devotee, every incident is unique and they were blessed depending on their devotion and sincerity and only he knows.

Once a person is engrossed in his thoughts, the status of man, woman, animal, bird, tree is gone. Individuality is gone. HIS COMPASSION HAS NO BOUNDARIES

For Gajendra and Draupadi when they called him in distress, he rushed to them. Sabari who was waiting for years with devotion had his dharshan and Prahlada was blessed when he was tortured by his father.

Mahaperiyava’s grace and his actions cant be measured with one incident and can never be generalized with our intellect.

  7. I have read in one of the volumes of “Mahaperiyava Darisama Anubhavangal” the following episode :
When a lady did her namaskaram and got up, her hair slightly brushed Mahaperiyava. After that Periyava did penance (tapas) for three months.as prayachitham.

On the basis of this incidence, one can say Mahaperiyava would never have touched the aunt’s head.
Let us ignore this and appreciate the moral of the story.

JAYA JAYA SANKARA HARA HARA SANKARA

  8. when periava PLACED HIS PALMS OVER THE LADY’S HEAD,THE vibrations had been so strong that she would have felt as tho’he had placed hisn handover the ad. I don’t know when people will read the spirit of action and not gomabt quibbling abt the nuances-a sheer ….
one can even doubt the swzmi’s words that they were relaed in their earliers briths.

  9. Sorry to say that some of the specifics in this story are not believable. I have not known Mahaperiava touching some one’ s head. This is news to me. Hope I am wrong.

    • Yes Ms.vijaya
periyava nevet touches anyone…..it s against sanyasa darmam…..
      pls edit that part…

      • The very title Heavenly Father does not sound like coming from our Sanatana Dharma. And yes this ‘touching’ part also was something very strange to read!

    • He has touched Sri Pradosham mama several times ..many have seen that happening…

    • The person who narrated this experience lives here and I have provided his contact # also. If anyone wants to clarify, they may do so. I am sharing this number without their consent. That itself is not correct. I am providing only to prove that it was not some made-up story. When you call him, please remember he could be potentially a senior citizen (I dont know). So, please talk without sounding like you are challenging him….

      • There is nothing to debate over ..we are all his child n lets rejoice in his leelas ….if any isssues is to bring contradictions …pls let us omit those…periyava touched or not….lets us pray for his grace

    • I just realized – in one of Periyava’s speeches, He narrates His camp in North where in their culture they touch the feet of the sanyasis and worship. They did the same to Periyava. When Sri Balu mama, Sri Vedapuri mama tried to stop them. PEriyava said not to do so – I can’t remember which audio file it was but it did happen. Someone with better memory can be precise about the file !!

      • “Rule Books” are for those stirve for self control and discipline.
Periyava is Brahmam that is beyond rule books. PERIOD

      • I have lived in North for 25 years and i know this is practice followed in North. People fall at the feet for Sanyasi’s, it is a common practice.

Divinity does not see male or female, old or young, rich or poor, Brahmin or Non-Brahmin. They know that Jeevathma takes male or female body to undergo Karma’s of the past Janma.

I heard somebody telling similar story in one of the YouTube video. I listen to youtube on maha periyava daily.

        I think, people don’t get the point…

  10. That aunt is a greatly blessed soul.

  11. Tears rolled down my cheeks on reading the lines : ‘swami told her that he was longing to see her from years and now they have met and will not meet anymore and blessed her abundantly’. what a வாத்ஸல்யம்!
