தட்டச்சு-வரகூரான் நாராயணன்.
கும்பகோணத்தில் ஒரு செட்டியார் பெரிய பணக்காரர் மிகவும் வயிற்றுவலியால் துடித்தார். டாக்டர்கள் அவர்களை காப்பாற்ற வழியில்லை என்பதால் ஸ்ரீ மகாபெரியவாளை பார்க்க வந்தார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் 100 திருமாங்கல்யம் செய்து ஏழைகளுக்கு கொடுங்கள் என்றார். இது எதற்கு என்றார் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா.
யாராவது ஏழைகளுக்கு கொடுங்கள் என்று சொல்லிவிட்டு போய்விட்டார். இதை யாரிடமாவது பொறுப்பாக ஒப்படைக்க
வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக வேதபுரியை அழைத்தார். அவர் பயந்து கொண்டு அந்த பொறுப்பை எடுக்க மறுத்துவிட்டார்.
ஸ்ரீ கண்டன் மாட்டேன் என்றார். கண்ணனை கேட்டால் அவன் காசிக்கு சென்றுவிடுவான் பாலுவிடம் பொறுப்பை
ஒப்படை என்றார்.
திருநெல்வேலியிலிருந்து ஒரு சமையல்காரர் வந்தார். பாலுமாமா என்று என்னை கத்திக்கொண்டே இருந்தான்.
நான் கொஞ்சம் தாராளமாக இருப்பதை மற்றவர்களுக்கு கொடுப்பேன்.
‘பாலுமாமா நான் மடத்தில் கைங்கர்யம் செய்திருக்கேன். என் மகளுக்கு கல்யாணம். கொஞ்சம் ஒத்தாசை வேணும்
என்றார். நானும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம், இவர் (மலையப்பன்) பெண்ணுக்கு கல்யாணமாம் என்றேன்.
“சரி அவனுக்கு ஏதாவது பார்த்து செய்” என்றார். நான் புடவை,வேஷ்டி கொடுத்தேன். திருமாங்கல்யம் கொடு என்றார். இரண்டு திருமாங்கல்யம், ரூ 2000மும் கொடுத்தனுப்பினேன்.
இரண்டு மூன்று மாதம் கழித்து பெண் அழுது கொண்டே ஸ்ரீ மடத்துக்கு வந்தாள். காரணம் தெரியவில்லை.
வா ஏம்மா அழறாய்? என்றேன்.
“எனக்கு ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா திருமாங்கல்யம் கொடுத்தார். என் வீடு ரொம்ப வறுமையில் இருக்கு. சாப்பிடக்கூட வசதியில்லை. அதனால் இந்த திருமாங்கல்யத்தை அடகு கடையில் வைக்கப்போனோம். கடைக்காரர் இதை தங்கமில்லை,செப்பு என்கிறார். எனக்கு மனசு ரொம்ப கஷ்டமாக இருக்கு.என் மாமியாரும்,கணவரும் என்னை அடிப்பார்கள். அதனால் இங்கு ஓடிவந்தேன்
என்று அழுதாள்.
ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஒரு டெஸ்க் (Desk) கொண்டு வா என்றார். டெஸ்க் என்றால் என்ன என்று ஸ்ரீ வேதபுரிக்கு தெரியவில்லை.இரண்டு பெஞ்ச் கொண்டுவா என்றார்.
ஒரு மேடை மாதிரி செய்து அதில் ஏறி நின்றார்.
ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு கண்களில் கண்ணீர் வந்துவிட்டது.
“அவன் (செட்டியார்) தங்கமில்லை, செப்பு என்று சொல்லியிருந்தால் இத்தனை கஷ்டமில்லை” என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டே “டேய் பாலு பக்கத்துல கடைக்கு போய் திருமாங்கல்யம் வாங்கிண்டுவா” என்றார்.
நானும் இரண்டு செட் திருமாங்கல்யம் 2 குண்டு வாங்கி வந்தேன்.அந்த பெண்ணிடம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஆசி வழங்கி கொடுத்தார். அந்த பெண் நமஸ்கரித்து சென்றுவிட்டாள். நான்கு நாட்கள் கழித்து ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாள் ஜெயந்தி வந்தது. அன்று மக்களுக்கு தரிசனம் கொடுக்க ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஒரு மேடைமீது ஏறி நின்றார்கள். எல்லோரும் முன்னிலையில்.
“நான் தப்பு செய்துவிட்டேன். நான் தெய்வம் சங்கராசார்யார் என்று எல்லோரும் வருகிறீர்கள். நான் தங்கம் என்று
நினைத்து பித்தளையை கொடுத்துவிட்டேன் என்றார்.
(யார் செய்த தப்பை யார் ஏற்பது. ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஏற்றுக் கொண்டார்கள். எப்பேர்பட்ட ஒரு பெரிய மனது. இந்த
லோகத்துக்கே குரு எல்லோர் முன்னிலையில் இப்படி பேசினார். இன்று நினைத்தாலும் என் மனது அழுகிறது)
ஸ்ரீ மகாபெரியவா பொய்யே சொல்லமாட்டார்.

This is also Periyava Thiruvediayadal.. I don;t think any of Periyava Devotee (Chettaiar) will do cheating of this may be a mistake and periyava exposed the situation how to handle difficult situation and make pwople realize their mistake…

There is no way Sri Chettiyar would have done the mistake knowingly, particularly when he sought refuge in Sri Maha Periyava. Sri Tamizh Chelvan’s possible explanation is highly plausible.

i doubt if the Chettiyar would have dared to make a false statement to Periyava especially when he was suffering from an incurable ailment.
Is it not possible that Chettiyar was himself fooled by someone about the thirumangalyams being made of gold?
i feel something was amiss.
Anyhow, Periyava knows it all.

This is only a drama. He knows evertything. This is only to teach us the lesson & “advice” how to live in all situation. How the Chettiar, in spite of his intractable suffering due to abdominal pain, could make Thirumaangalyam in copper for 100 poor girls and give it boldly to Maha Periyava, requesting Him to distribute it, beats me! What a sin he has committed? With what equanimity, Maha Periyava gave Himself punishment? Divine Leela which cannot be fathomed by us! But it evokes tears spontaneously! Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara!
It is a Mahavakyam and Guidline for all of us like me who are Noivces to admit in open… Thanks for posting this…

English Translation
MAHA PERIYAVA’S MAGNANIMITY – Told by Sri Balu Mama
A Chettiyar who was very rich and lived in Kumbakonam was suffering with Stomach aliments.
Many doctors could not save his life. He came to have darshan of Maha Periyava.
He submitted 100 Thirumangalyams to Periyava and when Periyava asked him for what purpose these were given, the Chettiyar wanted these Thirumangalyams to be distributed to poor people.
Periyava wanted someone to take responsibility for safe keeping and distribution.
When Periyava asked Vedapuri to take care of these Mangalyams, he was afraid of the huge risks involved and refused to take responsibility.Srikandan also refused .
Periyava then entrusted this task to Balu Mama.
A cook from Thirunelveli pestered Balu Mama stating that he had done lot of service to Sri Matam
And he needed money to celebrate the marriage of his daughter.
Balu Mama informed Periyava about the request of the person whose name was Malaiyappan.
Periyava asked Balu Mama to do the needful.
Then Balu Mama gave Dhoties, Sarees, Two Thirumangalyams and Rs. 2000 to that person.
After about 2 to 3 months a girl came to Balu Mama with tears in her eyes. When asked why she was crying, she told that she was given Thirumangalyams by Sri Periyava. She further told that her family was very poor and could not afford even food. When the Thirumangalyam was taken to a pawn broker she was informed that it was not gold but made of copper. She suffered mental agony fearing her husband and in-laws will punish her. That is why she had come to Sri Periyava.
Periyava asked Vedapuri to bring a desk. When two benches were brought he stood on them.
Periyava felt sad and with tearful eyes told that if Chettiyar had informed that these ornaments were made of copper and not gold the sufferings could have been mitigated.
Then Periyava asked Balu Mama to purchase Thirumangalyams from the shop.
Then Periyava gave these to the girl with His blessings. The girl went after doing Namaskarams to Periyava .
After four days Periyava’s Jayanthi came. Many came to have darshan .
Periyava stood on a dais and before everyone announced “
I had committed a mistake. You all come to Me thinking that I am God and Sankarcharyar. I gave copper thinking it to be gold. “
He has taken the blame on Himself for the mistake done by some one else.
He who is the Jagathguru said these words in front of so many people.
Sri Balu Mama states :
Even today if I think about this, my mind cries. Periyava never told lies.
