  1. Let me recall an incident that was experienced by my beloved mother who attained eternal bliss on Chitra Pournami of 2010. She went to Kanchipuram to have darshan of Mahaperiyavaa around fourty years ago with my first sister for whom they were actively scouting for an alliance, so as to get the blessings of our Periyavaa for an early marriage into a decent family.

At this juncture I would like to say that our family is blessed because my Prapithamahar ( kollu thata) Punyaseelar Sriman Venkatarama iyer was associated with the Mutt in its difficult days (when Periyavaa should have been in his thirties – this is my guess). Periyavaa has told my parents that my Kollu thata used to go from pillar to post for ” dhambidi vassol” (term used by Mahaperiyavaa himself) from the Mutt’s properties and that my thata ( Sriman Venkatarama Iyer’s son Shri A V Subramaniya Iyer) was the mutt ‘s lawyer in some property issues as well.

After reaching Kanchi, my mother and sister proceeded for a darshan of Periyavaa. The all knowing sage questioned my mother on who she is and the lineage ( all of us can now say that this is just a divine drama, for we all know how Periyavaa found out that a youth standing in a queue was the grandson of a chettiyar to whom the Mutt owes money for the provisions that were supplied when the Mutt was in fiscal crisis and the sarveswaran paid off the debt with interest when this grandson was not even born when the debt was incurred). After the introduction periyava queried the issue at hand and gave his benedictions that a good varan will come soon. He then queried my sister hardly in her twenties ” enna vandanam panindiya.” My sister ( my mother has recounted “like a fool”, let me tell you I am also one in a different incident involving Mahaperiyavaa…) ” Paninden” and the others nearby gave signal that it is not appropriate to say so and she did a Vandanam now at the feet of Periyavaa. Periyavaa gave my sister Maha prasadam consisting of a fist full of Kallkandu, Drakshai and Kungumam and gave an all will be well signal and my mother and sister left the divine presence. Within a few seconds Periyavaa told his attendants “dey antha Vathima Ponnaa koopiduda” ( Periyavaa referring to my mother by our subsect ). My amma and sister were again ushered in before Periyavaa. Periyavaa queried “Avan ( meaning my father Sri A S Narayanaswamy Iyer) varalaya” My mother replied “illai varalai”. Now Periyavaa ” Seri appidina nee enna pandre nera bus standuku po. Anga Madras pora bussa pudi nee ettra mani ( 8:30) rathri veetuku poy sernthuduve . Kamashi koil ellam poga vendam, enna parthutuyolyo pothum (Q.E.D.!!! and the truth is out) poyutuvaa”. My mother left the august presence of the Mahan. The devotees nearby rushed to my mother and asked her to proceed straight to Madras for which she replied that she will do as per the order of Periyavaa. She reached our house and it is needless to say that the time by the watch in our house was 8:30 in the night and it is obvious that the life of my first sister, as well as second sister and myself is as on date (and will continue to be so) very happy and prosperous.

    Foot note:
So our forefather’s action is the bank deposit that has been transferred to us with compound interest by the Sarveswaran Periyavaa. I have nothing say but only tears fill my eyes when I think about his divinity.

Thanks to Mahesh for giving a platform to share the Apparakarunai of the Jagadguru

  9. I had dream about Mahaperivaa on 4/29/2012 @ 2am. This is the dream

HE is @ Sri Matam and i am sitting at his left side right behind him. A matam kaikaryam comes and tells that there’s a miracle in the “Matam Patrikai” for Adi Shankara Jayanthi.

    HE asks, what is it?

Then the person replies that, one of the devotees has penned a slokam after seeing the SriMukam.

HE Asks whats in the SRIMUKAM

The person replies that the SRIMUKAM has the words “நான் தான் சிவன்” (Naan thaan Sivan”)

HE then smiles/laughs on hearing it and gets up and comes near me & looks at me & smiles again, as thou telling me “நான் தான் சிவன்” & goes inside to his anushtanams.

The dream comes to an end.

The miracle didnt stop there. I went to Sri Matam 2 days later and saw a picture there. what else can i say.

    Here is the picture

    Siva Siva!
