வாழ்நாள் முழுதும் நினைப்பதுதான் அந்திமத்தில் நினைவுவரும் என்பது பொதுவாக வாஸ்தவம். ஆனால் இப்படியில்லாமல், அஸாதாரணமாக, வாழ்நாள் பூரா நினைக்காத ஒன்று ப்ராணன் போகிறபோது நினைப்புக்கு வந்துவிட்டால்? இப்படியானாலும் அந்தக் கடைசி நேரத்தில் எதை நினைத்தானோ அதை இவனுக்கு ஸ்வாமி கொடுத்துவிடுகிறார். ‘இதற்கு முன்னாடி நீ அதை நினைக்கவில்லையே!’ என்று இவனைக் கேட்பதில்லை. கீதா வாக்யத்திலிருந்து இப்படித்தான் அர்த்தமாகிறது. வாழ்க்கையில் அவ்வளவாக பக்தி பண்ணாவிட்டாலும் கூட, சாகிற ஸமயத்திலே ஈஸ்வர ஸ்மரணத்தோடு மூச்சை விட்டால்போதும்; அவனை அடைந்து விடலாம் என்று கீதை சொல்வதாக ஏற்படுகிறது. இது ரொம்ப ‘ஷார்ட்-கட்’ தானே? – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

It is a general fact of life that the thoughts which occupied our mind during our entire lives will coming rushing into our heads at life’s final moments. But what happens if a new thought occurs to the mind in spite of not having occurred during a life time? Even then Bhagawan accepts it. He never questions the man as to why he had not thought of it before. This is the meaning that this statement from Srimad Bhagawad Gita gives. Even if a person had not been immersed in devotion during his lifetime, if he breathes his last with the thought of the Divine in his mind, he reaches the Divine.
