In addition to wiping of the palms in front of Chandikeswarar,there was practice of removing a few threads from the Uthrriyam and placing before him. These threads are said to be combined together and form a wick for the lamp and everybody’s contribution is ensured. Dont know whether still practised in village temples atleast

So we can clap our hands and show the palm before him? That is -it is ok to make sound is what am inferring from this post. Kindly confirm .
