தமிழ் மொழியிலே கூட அவருக்கிருக்கும் அறிவு முத்தமிழ்க் காவலர்களையெல்லாம் பிரமிக்க வைக்கிறது. ஒரு முறைகி.வா.ஜ-விடம், “தமிழ் என்றால் என்ன?” என்று கேட்டார். மேலும் “சமஸ்கிருதம் என்றால், செம்மை செய்யப்பட்ட மொழி என்று அர்த்தம்! அப்படி தமிழுக்கு ஏன் அந்தப் பெயர் வந்தது சொல்லுங்கள்!” என்கிறார்.
கி,வா.ஜ. அடக்கமாக,”பெரியவா சொன்னால் தெரிந்து கொள்கிறேன்!” என்றார்
அவற்றைக் குறிப்பதகாவே இருக்கும். மழலை,குழல், அழகு, குழந்தை,கழல்,நிழல்,பழம்,யாழ் இப்படி ‘ழ’ வருகிற எல்லாமே நமக்குப் பிடித்தவை. ஆகவே இனிமையான ‘ழ’வைத் தம்மிடத்தில் உடையது ‘தமிழ்’ (தமி+ழ்) என்று சொல்லலாமா” என்கிறார். உடனே கி.வா.ஜ., “இதைவிடப் பொருத்தமாக சொல்ல முடியுமா? இனி எல்லா மேடைகளிலும் நான் இதைச் சொல்லுவேன்!”என்றாராம்.
சீர்காழிப் பதிகத்தில் நற்றமிழ் வல்ல ஞானசம்பந்தர் பாடியிருக்கும் “யாமா மாநீ யாமா மா” என்ற மாற்றுமாலைப் பதிகம் மிகவும் கடினம். அவற்றுள் ஒன்றைப் பெரியவா எடுத்து, மிகவும் கடினமான அந்தப் பதிகத்தைப் பிரித்துப் பிரித்து மிக
எளிமைப்படுத்திப் பொருள் சொன்னார். பெரிய வித்வான்கள் பிரமித்துப் போனார்கள்.
அதுபோல் காளமேகப் புலவர் பாடிய பாடலில் ஒன்று,
எழுதுகிறார், தெரியுமா?” என்று கேட்டு,
அக்கா வரைக்கால் கண்டு அஞ்சா முன்
விக்கி இருமாமுன், மாகாணிக்கேகாமுன்
கச்சி ஒருமாவின் கீழரை இன்றோது….
என்று மிக அழகாக விளக்குகிறார்.

Wow, What a way to explain the meaning of the word Tamil. I do not know whether the present so called Tamil saviours know anything about this. Can anybody else explain it so beautifully? Why can’t we make this as one of the lessons in the schools and make them know more about the beauty of the Tamil language. Most of the TV, Cinema artistes unable to spell the word ;Zha’ correctly and almost try to kill the language into pieces. Expecting to hear more from Mr. Mahesh.

Mahaperiyava was a Sarvagna and there were amazing incidents that took place during His era.Once a sathavadhani came to Mutt who professed to answer 100 questions on different subjects like music,astronomy,poetry,puranas etc posed at the same time.First questions were shot out and then he replied in the same order. Mahaperiyava who was also witnessing that asked his attendant to note his replies also and when the replies were compared,both of them tallied. Sathavadhanam was a skill to be practised,but where Mahaperiyava had time to master such skills??
