“Pray to Lord Surya on this auspicious day and get blessed for all the good things in life.”
It is the Sun that dispels outer darkness. Surya worship removes evil thoughts from the mind. We all should worship such a powerful Sun God on Pongal festival and get his grace.
Surya worship is the most important among the six types of worship prescribed by Adi Shanka. We get good health by worshiping the Sun. The purpose of worshiping Lord Surya is that he is the one who gives awareness to all of us and supports us in doing all our Karmas and is tool to attain Atma Swarupam.
The first day of Pongal festival is celebrated as Bhogi festival, the second day is Pongal or Sankranti and the third day is Mattu Pongal.
Bhogi festival is a day to worship and appease Lord Indra, feeding all creatures right from the crow is most important of Bhogi.
On the next day, Sankranti – Pongal, it is special to worship the visible deity Surya.
The day after that is the day to worship the cow that gives us milk and the bulls that help in agriculture.
Like that all these three days are very special. Pongal is a day when man remembers his connection with all living beings. On this auspicious day, if you do good, you will get special benefits. Therefore, everyone does good things on this day and get good results and get all good things in life.
Sankranti is the auspicious day, the day that gives light. On this day Worship Sun God by doing Pujas to get the grace of Devas and get removed the darkness in our mind through the light of grace. We bless everyone to receive good health and good intellectual.
