My Sakthi Peetam Trip

About a week back I had to make an urgent trip to India for business reasons to visit Calcutta & Hyderabad. It so happened that after my initial meeting was over in Calcutta I had 3-4 days to spend there before traveling to HYD. I took this as an opportunity to travel to several sakthi peetams in W. Bengal. W Bengal has 10 sakthi piths but I was able to visit only 8.

  1. Kalighat – Right Toes
  2. Guskara – Right Wrist – Mangala Chandika
  3. Bolput – Bone – Devgargbha
  4. Dubrajpur – Portion between eyebrows – Mahishamardhini
  5. Sainthia – Necklace – Nandini
  6. Tarapith – this is not a sakthi pith – this is the place for Tara devi
  7. Lalbag – Crown – Vimala
  8. Dakshinidhi (Attohas) – Lips – Phullara
  9. Ketugram/Burdwan – Left arm – Bahula
  10. Hooghly – Right shoulder – Kumari (couldn’t go)
  11. Tamluk – Left ankle – Bhimapura (couldn’t go)

I took a car and drove all these places – one of the most tiring trips I ever had. Rural W.Bengal roads are the worst roads ever – in many places, there are no roads – we took a chance and drove through those roads. Food-wise, W.Bengal is not a great place for vegetarians – you won’t find any vegetarian only restaurants – meat everywhere. I lost interest in eating food at all throughout the trip and managed to survive. These roads are clearly not meant for old people.

Upon reaching HYD, I did a 1-day trip to Srisailam, only temple that is both jyotirlingam and a sakthi pith. Here Ambal’s neck fell.

Yesterday I got darshan of Sri Periyava in Secunderabad after almost 3 years.

It was truly a spiritually fulfilling trip – it is nothing but my guru’s blessings & guidance that I was able to visit these places.
