As many of you may be aware Seerkazhi is a very ancient temple town where Lord Thiru Gnana Sambandhar was born and in this very temple Ambal fed Thirugnanasambandhar with Ksheeram when his father went for a dip in the holy pond leaving Thiru Gnana Sambandhar by the pond side. Thiru Gnana Sambandhar Avatara Sthalam (home) is very near to this temple. Several Nayanmars and Sivanadiyars has sung several Pathigams praising the Lord here.

Sattainatha Swamy temple is very huge and is called Periya Kovil, many call Seerkazhi as Dakshina Kasi, such is the prominence and significance of this place.
