23 அடி உயரத்தில் பிரமாண்ட நடராஜர் சிலை

சுவாமிமலை அருகே 23 அடி உயரத்தில் பிரமாண்ட ஆனந்த நடராஜர் சிலை வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டது.

தஞ்சை மாவட்டம் சுவாமிமலை அருகே திம்மக்குடி கிராமத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு சிற்பக்கூடத்தை நடத்தி வருபவர் வரதராஜன். இவர், கடந்த 2003-ம் ஆண்டு சுவிட்சர்லாந்து நாட்டில் ஜெனிவா நகரில் உள்ள அணு ஆராய்ச்சி மையத்திற்கு சோழர் காலத்து சிற்ப சிலைகளைபோல 11 அடி உயரம் கொண்ட நடராஜர் சிலையை வடிவமைத்து வழங்கி உள்ளார். இதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக ஆனந்த தாண்டவம் ஆடும் நடராஜர் சிலையை 23 அடி உயரத்தில் வடிவமைக்க முடிவு செய்தார்.

உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய சிலை

இதற்கான பணிகள் கடந்த 2010-ம் ஆண்டு தொடங்கியது. 23 அடி நடராஜர் ஐம்பொன் விக்ரகம் ஒற்றை வார்ப்பு முறையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. பின்னர் போதிய நிதி இல்லாததால் இந்த பணியில் தொய்வு ஏற்பட்டது. பிறகு 2012-ம் ஆண்டு வேலூர் நாராயண சக்தி பீடம் ஒத்துழைப்போடு பணிகள் மீண்டும் தொடங்கப்பட்டு 23 அடி உயரம், 17 அடி அகலம் மற்றும் 15 ஆயிரம் கிலோ எடை கொண்ட உலகின் மிகப்பெரிய ஆனந்த தாண்டவ நடராஜர் சிலை உருவானது. இந்த சிலை 51 சிவ அட்சரத்தை குறிக்கும் வகையில் 51 தீச்சுடர்கள், திருவாச்சியில் 52 சிம்மங்களையும், 56 பூதகணங்களையும், 102 தாமரை மலர்களையும், 2 மகர பறவைகளையும், 34 நாகங்களின் உருவங்களையும் கொண்டுள்ளது.

ரூ.4 கோடியில் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட இந்த பிரமாண்ட சிலைக்கு நேற்று மாலை திம்மக்குடியில் அபிஷேகம் நடந்தது. ஓதுவார்கள் பாடலை பாட, வாத்தியங்கள் முழங்க நடராஜருக்கு அபிஷேகம் நடந்தது. இதில் புதுச்சேரி மற்றும் தெலுங்கானா கவர்னர் தமிழிசை சவுந்தரராஜன் கலந்து கொண்டு நடராஜர் சிலையை பயபக்தியுடன் வணங்கினார். பின்னர் அந்த சிலையை வேலூர் நாராயணி பீடத்தின் டிரஸ்டி சுரேசிடம் ஒப்படைத்தார். விழாவில் சிற்பி ராஜன் உள்பட பலர் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

TRICHY: A 23-foot-high dancing Shiva (Nataraja) idol, claimed to be the tallest in the world to be made in single cast, is ready for installation at Sri Lakshmi Narayani golden temple in Vellore. Weighing 15 tonnes, it was made at Swamimalai near Kumbakonam in Thanjavur district at a cost of Rs 4 crore.
Varadrajh, the sthapathi (architect) of the idol, said metal idols are usually made by single casting. “But if it is a big one, sthapathis cast each part separately and fix them by welding. This 23-foot dancing Shiva has been created in single casting method, the tallest in the world to be made in this manner. The height of the Nataraja with the arch is 16 feet and the pedestal is 7 feet high,” Varadrajhtold TOI.

A total of 20 artisans headed by him were engaged in making the idol since 2010, taking 12 years to complete the Himalayan task, he added. “It takes six years to complete a dancing Nataraja idol. It took two years to find sponsors, and due to the Covid-19 pandemic another two years have gone. With the help of Narayani Peedam, we completed it successfully,” he said.

Elaborate arrangements have been made to perform ‘Thirumeni Arul Vizha’ for the idol on Monday evening before it is shifted to Vellore. Telangana governor and lieutenant governor of Puducherry Dr Tamilsai Soundararajan, trustees of Sri Lakshmi Narayani Peedam and ‘Nakkeeran’ editor Gopal will be participating in the event, he said.

“An 11-foot dancing Shiva idol (statue) made by me was donated by the Indian government to CERN (Nuclear Research Centre) in Geneva, Switzerland. That led to the making of this 23-foot idol,” Varadrajh, added. Given a chance, he wishes to cast the tallest idol of Lord Ram for the Ram temple under construction in UP.
