Thanks to Sri Ganapathisubramanian for the share. Beautiful photo…I have a question – the pallakku actually looks like a “ther” – it is so tall when compared to devotees standing next to them. This must be twice or thrice the size of a mena. It almost looks like Periyava is sitting in a podium unless the devotees are standing in a low level ground.

This is swami pallakku of Metha Dakshinamoorthy temple called Vallalar te mple in mayavaram. Pattana pravesam. Very young Puthu periya was following in an elephant. I was present . Around the year 1954. Only bramhmana devotees carried the pallakku.
