With the constant downpour over the past few days entire Tamizh Nadu is struggling. Chennai being a congested city with so many drawbacks including water drainage facilities bore the brunt of it as you would have all seen in the media. While there are heated debates going on including high court questioning the occupation of marsh lands and lack of drainage facilities the need of the hour is to provide relief to real poor and needy who are really struggling to put food on the table. They are all daily wagers and many could not even step out of their home for several days. Adding to their woes, water has seeped into many of their homes and they are really stranded with no place to go nor food to eat. After yesterday, many of the roads have been blocked due to water stagnation of around 3-4 feet. With Sri Periyava’s Anugraham we are doing our best to alleviate the suffering of the real poor and needy by providing them food for the past few days. Preparing the food and delivering to the needy itself presents a lot of challenges but by HIS grace we are pulling it together. A couple of Periyava Kainkaryam devotees has already reached out to us and contributed with which we could carry our flood relief activities. Over the past couple of days, a few of kind hearted Periyava Kainkaryam devotees in my community (in Shollinganallur area) is preparing food packets for around 40 people for lunch. With another looming cyclone and the weather forecast not looking good coupled with the water stagnation it is going to be a challenge over the next few days.

Apart from food, I’m also getting a few desperate requests from poor people that some of their huts are blown away and they are in need of Tarpaulin sheets so they could have a roof on top of their families.
