‘கோ’ என்றாலே பூமி என்றும் ஒரு அர்த்தம். க்ருஷ்ணர் பூர்ணாவதாரம். அம்சாவதாரம் என்பதாக பகவான் தன்னுடைய ஓரொரு அம்ச கலையை மட்டும் வெளிப்படுத்தியும் அவதாரங்கள் நிகழ்த்தியதுண்டு. பாகவதத்தில் சொல்லியிருக்கிற கணக்குப்படி பகவானுக்கு இருபத்து நாலு அவதாரங்கள். அந்த இருபத்து நாலில் நம் எல்லோருக்கும் தெரிந்த தசாவதாரங்கள் போக பாக்கியிருக்கிற பதினாலு பேரும் அம்சாவதாரங்கள். அப்படி பகவானின் அம்ச அவதாரங்களாக இருந்தவர்களில் ப்ருது என்கிற சக்ரவர்த்தியும் ஒருத்தர். அவர்தான் லோகத்தில் நாடு, நகரம் என்ற அமைப்புகளை முறைப்படி ஏற்படுத்தியவர். அவர் பூமாதாவையே கோமாதா ரூபத்தில் கண்டு அந்த பசுத்தாயிடமிருந்து அவரவர்களும் தங்கள் தங்களுக்கு இஷ்டமான ஸம்பத்துக்களை தங்கள் தங்கள் ஸ்வதர்மம் என்ற கன்றைக் கொண்டு கறந்து கொள்ளச் செய்தார் என்று பாகவதத்தில் சொல்லியிருக்கிறது. கோ ரூபத்தில் பகவானுக்கு எத்தனை ப்ரீதி என்பதற்காகச் சொன்னேன். கோவுக்கும் அவரிடத்தில் அதேபோல ப்ரீதி. வேணுகோபாலனாக பகவான் இடது பாதத்தை பூமியில் ஊன்றிச் செங்குத்தாக வைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போது தாமரை மாதிரியான அவருடைய உள்ளங்காலை ஒரு கோ நக்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும். சித்ரங்களில் அப்படியே போட்டிருக்கும். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்

The word ‘Gho’ has also another meaning namely ‘Earth’. Krishna is a complete Avatar (Poornavatar) in all sense. There are times when Bhagavan had taken Avatars just by expressing certain aspects (Amsams) of Himself alone called ‘Amsavatharam’. As per the calculation mentioned in Srimad Bhagavatham, there are twenty four Avatars altogether of Bhagavan. Out of these twenty four, apart from the ten Avatars known to us as Dasaavatharams, all the remaining fourteen Avatars are Amsaavatharams. Among those who happened to be Bhagavan’s Amsa Avatarams was a king named Brudhu. He was the one who designed and disciplined the establishments of nations and cities in the world.  He visualized Bhoo Matha in the form of Gho Matha and made each one of the mankind to obtain their desired wealth by milking her with their calves namely their respective Swadharmas, says Bhagavatham. I’m talking about this just to show how much a special affection Bhagavan holds for the cows. The cows too shared the same kind of affection towards Bhagavan. When Bhagavan stands as Venugopalan, with His left leg fixed straightly and firmly to the ground, a cow would be licking His Lotus-like feet. Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara – By Sri Periyava Anugraham and all of your support we managed to rescue 48 Gho Mathas/Rishabams/Calves last month (August’ 21). All of them were saved just before they were about to be sold to slaughterhouse or onboard to Kerala. As seen in the pictures, there are many gigantic and majestic cows that just take our breath away. Below are the details. Posting just a couple of pics.
