A law can easily be enforced against cow slaughter. But if we don’t make proper arrangements to look after the cows which are no longer useful for milking and farming, then they would be made to suffer out of starving and being malnourished. Important Note – Had the great bhaghyam to have darshan of our Periyava few days back with Viswanathan and seeked his blessings on our Gho Matha rescue operations. HH blessed our initiatives whole heartedly. There is one telling comment Periayva made, ‘Vadekke Veda Patasalasvum, Therkke Ghosalavum Vruddhi Aganum’ (In North Veda Patasalas and in South Ghosalas should grow). This is not the first time Periyava is hearing about this. Our Periyava has been updated on all these rescue operations frequently and ONLY because of HIS blessings and all of your support we could continue to rescue so many Gho Mathas. Below is the synopsis of the rescue operations for last month.

In what had been an astounding month, we managed to save 272 cows including the 161 cows that were rescued from Melmalayanur cattle market. Apart from the 161, we could save another 111 cows again from Melmalayanur, Marakkanam, and other places near my home. All these cows were saved just before they were either boarded on a truck to Kerala or sold to slaughter houses. This means, on an average, we saved 9 cows daily from the clutches of butcher.

As you might understand, it does not make sense to put picture of all the 272 pics rescued. I’m posting a few of those pictures in groups so you can see the intensity and magnitude of our rescue operations.

This certainly has been stellar Jan. for cows. Will the same pace sustain in Feb.? It all depends on what contributions and support we get from you. Remember, a contribution as little as Rs. 2k can save a one month old calf (like you see the one above) embarking on a cruel journey to Kerala. Please contribute whatever you can every month and importantly spread the word around by letting your family/friends know so we can continue to sustain our cow rescue operations.
