காஞ்சிப்பெரியவர் ஆற்காடு அருகிலுள்ள பூசைமலைக்குப்பம் மடத்தில், 1930ல் தங்கியிருந்தார். அந்த மடத்தில் இருந்த யானை மஹா பெரியவரைக் கண்டால் துதிக்கையைத் தூக்கி நமஸ்காரம் செய்யும். பெரியவரும் யானையைத் தடவிக் கொடுத்து அன்பு காட்டுவார்.
ஒருநாள் இரவில் யானையைக் கட்டியிருந்த கொட்டகை தீப்பற்றிக் கொண்டது. யானை சங்கிலியை அறுத்துக் கொண்டு ஓடிவிட்டது. மறுநாள் பாகனும், மடத்து ஆட்களும் காட்டில் யானையைத் தேடி அலைந்தும் இருக்கும் இடத்த அறிய முடியவில்லை.
சிலநாட்கள் கழித்து, மடத்திலிருந்து எட்டு கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் உள்ள குளத்தில் அது நின்று கொண்டிருப்பதாக தகவல் கிடைத்தது. பாகன் குளத்தில் இறங்கி, யானையை கொண்டு வர முயற்சித்தான். அது வர மறுத்து அடம்பிடித்தது.
விஷயமறிந்த பெரியவர் தானே குளத்திற்கு சென்று, யானையை அன்புடன் ஒரு பார்வை பார்த்தார். யானையின் கண்களில் கண்ணீர் பெருகியது. குளத்தை விட்டு வெளியே வந்து அவர் அருகில் நின்றது. பெரியவர் அதைத் தடவிக் கொடுத்து சமாதானம் செய்தார்.
இதேபோல, யானையிடம் சிக்கிய பக்தரைக் காத்த நிகழ்ச்சி ஒன்றும் நடந்தது.
சிதம்பரத்தில் ஆடிட்டராக இருந்தவர் பாலசுப்ரமண்யம். இவர் தமிழ்த்தாத்தா உ.வே.சா. பரம்பரையில் வந்தவர். அவர் மஹாபெரியவரின் தீவிரபக்தர். எப்போதும் சந்திரசேகரா ஈசா என்று உச்சரிக்கும் வழக்கம் கொண்டவர்.
ஒருநாள் சிதம்பரம் நடராஜரை தரிசிக்க சென்ற ஆடிட்டருக்கு அதிர்ச்சி காத்திருந்தது. கோயில் யானைக்கு மதம் பிடித்து வந்தவர்களைப் பயமுறுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்தது. அப்போது ஆடிட்டர் உள்ளே நுழைந்தார். அது அவரை கோபத்துடன் தூக்கியது. அவர் பயத்தில் நடுங்கினார்.
ஆனால், வாய் மட்டும் சந்திரசேகரா ஈசா என்ற நாமத்தை சொல்ல மறக்கவில்லை. அப்போது அதிசயம் ஒன்று நிகழ்ந்தது.
மதம் கொண்ட யானை ஒரு நிமிஷத்தில் அமைதியானது. ஆடிட்டரை கீழே இறக்கி விட்டுவிட்டு பாகனுடைய கட்டுப்பாட்டுக்குள் வந்து மண்டியிட்டது. பக்தர்கள் இதைப் பார்த்து அதிசயப்பட்டனர்.

Kanchi Mahaperiyava was camping in Pusai Malaikkuppam Mutt, near Arcot in 1930. The Mutt’s elephant would lift its trunk in a gesture of reverence whenever it saw Mahaperiyava. Mahaperiyava would also stroke it gently, showing his kindness.
The shed in which the elephant was tied caught fire one night. The elephant ran away, breaking its chain. The next day the mahout and other servants of the Mutt searched in the nearby woods but could not locate the elephant.
A few days later, news reached that the elephant was standing in a pond eight Km away. The mahout went there and tried to take it back,, but it stubbornly refused to come out. Coming to know of it, Mahaperiyava himself went to the pond, and looked at the elephant kindly. With tears streaming from its eyes, it came out of the pond and stood near him. Mahaperiyava gently stroked it and pacified it.
There was another incident when a devotee was saved from an elephant.
Balasubrahmanyam, hailing from the family of the illustrious Tamil Scholar U.V.Swaminatha Iyer, was an auditor in Chidambaram. He was a staunch devotee of Mahaperiyava, given to always chanting the name” Chandrasekhara Easa”. One day he went to the temple for the darshan of Nataraja, but a shock awaited him. The temple elephant was in rut, and was frightening the visitors. The auditor had entered just then. The elephant angrily lifted him with its trunk, and he was shivering in fear.
But his mouth did not still forget to utter the name “Chandrasekhara Easa”. It was then the miracle happened.
The rutted elephant became peaceful in a trice, and gently lowered the auditor to the floor. It came under the control of the mahout and came and gently lay down near him. Devotees were surprised witnessing this.
