Vedham to vaidheekas!

Here is a wonderful video of a very elderly vaideeka, who is in ICU, reacting to Vedic chanting by his friends. Vedham is in every cells of their bodies and the moment they hear a chanting, the whole body lit up! The Vedas itself gives them immense energy! What a lovely and also a painful scene to watch! We pray Mahaperiyava to bless this aged vaideeka!

Our namaskaram to this mama!

Thanks to Sri Sankar Narayanan for the share.

  1. On the one hand it’s “wow” factor ,to see the effect of life long chanting vedam at the sick bed as this ,on the other it’s invading an individuals privacy at a deeply personal time.🙏.

  2. Thank you Ram. You are better than I in how you came across.

we have ignored what was fundamental strength of our elders across ages – phenomenal unshakable dignity decorum even in abject poverty. We are no measure in front of them. I just didn’t think it was appropriate to showcase an old man in his sick bed it seemed like satiating our desire for “wow” in vaidheeka poverty.

  3. He is Gudalur Ramachandra Sastrigal. He took Sanyasam last month with the guidance and blessings of HH. He is unwell but very alert and had served HH Mahaperiava and the later Acharyas with total Commitment. He was earlier at Rameswaram Sankara Mutt and is known for his selfless service mostly free to those who approached him at Rameswaram. By God’s grace and blessings of HH he is sustaining. We had his blessings at Kumbakonam some years back. Very learned Jeevan Mukthar. He taught many vidhyarthis who are far ever grateful to him. His poorvasrama son is seen reciting the Yajur Veda in this video that was taken a few days back.

  4. I heard that this periyavar was in the process of receiving abath sanyasam initiated in the death while he was alive. I was told his interview on his experiences with Mahaperiyava was posted in our Sage of Kanchi

  5. This is unfortunate. Everything is a spectacle or entertainment for us. That old man doesn’t look like he would have wanted a video of this

    Disgusting ,distastegul and lacking dignity

    • No it is not. This is perfectly fine. I see as this as a way of honoring him. only a perverted mind will see a negativity in this.

    • Dear Anon,
You wrote out very strongly of the video. Everything can be seen in different angles. There is no necessary that your assumption is right. Neither you were there at that place to give your verdict nor you know him personally, I believe. Hence don’t be judgmental on anything straightway. In simple terms:

      எப்பொருள் யார்யார்வாய்க் கேட்பினும் அப்பொருள்
      மெய்ப்பொருள் காண்ப தறிவு.

Further, this video has persuaded me more ways to find the knowledge of Vedas in-depth, that is how I see this. Hopefully most of the visitors here, would have had such perception.

      • ANON must have felt that it was incorrect to have shared the video across social platforms like twitter, FB, etc (by whoever took this video) especially when someone (even of this advanced age) is recovering and is in the hospital! Not everybody would like someone taking photo/video while being unwell! May be ANON was trying to make this point! If that’s the case, he may well be correct?!
