ச்யவன மஹர்ஷி கோ மஹிமையைச் சொல்லும் ச்லோகங்களில் ஒன்று:

நிவிஷ்டம் கோகுலம் யத்ர ச்வாஸம் முஞ்சதி நிர்பயம் |

விராஜயதி தம் தேசம் பாபம் சாஸ்யாபகர்ஷதி ||

என்ன அர்த்தமென்றால்: “எந்த தேசத்தில் பசுக்கள் தங்களுக்கு ஹிம்ஸை நேருமோ என்று பயப்படாமல் கோகுலங்களில் நிம்மதியாக மூச்சு விட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனவோ அந்த தேசமே எல்லாப் பாபங்களும் விலகப் பெற்று ப்ரகாசமாக விளங்கும்.”

நம்முடைய பாரத தேசம் அப்படி ஆவதற்கு, அதை அந்த மாதிரி ஆக்குகிற மனப்பான்மையையும் செயற்பான்மையையும் நாம் பெறுவதற்கு கோவைக் கண்ணாகப் பேணிய கண்ணன் அருள் புரிவானாக! – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்

One of the Slokas of Shyavana Maharishi which describes the greatness of cows:

Nivishtam Gokulam Yathra Svasam Munjathi Nirbayam |
Virajayathi Tham Desam Papam Sasyabakarshathi ||

The meaning of this is:”The country where the cows breathe easy and feel safe in their sheds that no harm can come to them there, that country will prosper and shine brightly being devoid of all sins”.
