Vedas are the backbone of Universal welfare. Yagnyam is the backbone of that Vedas. What serves as its backbone in turn is the Kartha who performs the Yagnyam and the cow which gives the primary products offered in the Yagnyam. Therefore it becomes apparent that the cow has come to be one among the two which serve as the backbone for the world to exist and function well. That’s why it is considered that “Gho Rakshanam is Bhoo rakshanam” (preserving the cow is preserving the world). In Tamizh the saying goes thus: “Pasu Kaaththale paarinai kaththal”.
