அபிஷேகப்ரியனான, பரமேச்வரன் விபூதி ப்ரியனும் ஆவான். ‘காடுடைய சுடலைப் பொடி பூசி’ என்று தேவாரத்தின் முதல் பாட்டிலேயே ஞான ஸம்பந்தக் குழந்தை சொல்லியிருக்கிற மாதிரி, ஸ்வாமி இட்டுக் கொள்வது ச்மசான [மயான]த்தில் சவங்களை எரித்துப் பெறுகிற பஸ்மாவே. ஆனாலும் நாம் விபூதி தயாரித்து அவனுக்கும் இட்டுவிட்டு, அபிஷேகங்கூடப் பண்ணி, நமக்கும் இட்டுக் கொள்கிறோமே, அது எங்கேயிருந்து வருகிறது? கோமய உருண்டைகளைப் புடம் போட்டுத்தான் விபூதி பண்ணுவது. விபூதியைவிடப் பவித்ரமாக ஒன்று கிடையாது. ஸம்பந்த மூர்த்தி ஸ்வாமிகளின் ‘மந்திரமாவது நீறு’ என்ற திருநீற்றுப் பதிகத்தைப் பார்த்தால் போதும், அந்தத் திருநீற்றுக்கு என்னவெல்லாம் மஹிமை இருக்கிறதென்று தெரியும். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்
Parameswaran who is an Abhishekapriyan (fond of Abhishekam) is also a Vibhudhi Priyan (fond of Holy Ash too). Like the child Gnana Sambhandhar has sung in the very first song of Devaram as “Kaadudaiya Sudalai Podi poosi”, what the Swamy applies on His forehead is nothing but the ash got from burning corpses in the crematory ground. Still, the Vibhudhi that we prepare, apply on Him and even perform Abhishekam with it and apply on ourselves too — where does it come from? It is obtained only by processing cow dung balls. There is no other thing more sacred than Vibhudhi.
