Sri Athirudram Ravi has reached lotus feet of Mahaperiyava

With deep sadness, I share the news that Sri Ravi is no more with us. Thanks to Mahaperiyavapuranam for the news and Sri Kicha for the photo. Apparently he passed away early this morning. It is very very disheartening to hear this news. Such a simple man, so devoted to Kanchi Acharyas.

As many of you know, he has been doing athirudram for the past several years and has done 25 athirudrams, jataparayanams etc. The level of authenticity and dedication in each of those events are beyond words. He has always ensured that the vaideeka-related activities and annadhanam are given highest priority in each of the events. I have reached out to all of you multiple times to support Ravi’s yearly events. Ravi has been very thankful to all support received from the blog.

For each athirudram, Ravi would request me to put the post and make it sticky so that it stays on the top for few days. I tell Ravi if that really helps as I have my own doubt. Ravi very casually responds “Maheshji, let us just do our job, ambal, swami and Mahaperiyava will take care of the rest. Don’t worry”. Instead of me giving confidence to him, he would do it to me! That was his bakthi towards Mahaperiyava!

On a personal front, he was instrumental in making the silver kavacham for Mahaperiyava padhukas for me. Also he went few times to my kula dheivam temple “Kumaramalai” near Pudukottai and helped in making silver kavacham for Sri Baladhandayuthapani swami. Every time, I go to Trichy, I always meet him Sankara Matam in TV Kovil – he will send someone to help me with swami darshanam at the temple. To me, Ravi’s loss is quite a shock.

I understand that he started his first athirudram in Kariapatti and the current athirudram is also happening in the same place turned out as his last one!

Great soul! At times, we dont know why swami takes away certain people too early in the life – Ravi is one of them.

I pray Mahaperiyava and Sri Baladhandayuthapani to bless this departed soul!

With deep regrets,

Mahesh

  1. A great soul.Though I had acquaintances with a few people connected to the Kanchi mutt, hearing about Athirudram Ravi (I have not seen him yet),it gave me immense happiness and I was longing to at least have a glimpse of him. Alas….. he is no more.Such souls expand themselves looming large when they shed the body.Let his blessings descend on all of us, to focus on all of us, the grieving devotees, Sri Mahaperiyava ‘s grace..

  2. I am Krishnamurrhy of Trichi, who had the fortune to participate in the Athirudram he conducted at my Guru Sri Seshadri Swamigal samathi at Thiruvannamalai. I used to admire his administrative skill and his attention even to minor points. He wss a man of few words and a strict disciplinerion. His bakthi towards Maha Periyava was unbelievable, and was always focused. He never expressed his physical sufferance outside and probably his birth was only for the purpose iru Athirdrams and Jataparayanams. He was a true personification of Total Surrender and Staunch Bakthi. I met him at Kariyapatti on 26th May, just prior to his departure for the Hospital, and again on 28th at his residence prior to his final journey. Though my aquaintance with him is less than two years, I feel having lost a friend of 100 years.

  6. Mahaperiyava ThiruvadigaLe CharaNam! Another Maha Bhakthi passed away! Sri Ravi will be ever at the Lotus Feet of Maha Periyava! The number of Athirudrams he has conducted mostly at Mahaperiyava related Holy Places are many and grandly conducted. Promptly Prasadams he will send, sometimes accompanied by Mahaperiyava picture and a nice book related to the place of Athirudram. He is indeed a Great Sivanadiyaar also! Om Shanthi! Sincere condolences to the bereaved family! Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara!

  7. With the blessings of Sri Maha Periyava, we lighted a MOKSHA DEEPAM for Ravi Anna in Sri Maha Periyava Kshetram – Theni yesterday. There is no words to express his contribution to the sanadhana dharma in our times. Definitely, his soul will reach the lotus feet of Sri Maha Periyava. Jaya Jays Sankara, Hara Hara Sankara.

  8. Very sad to hear about the passing away of Athirudram Shri.Ravi . He had set up an example to all other devotees by conducting 25 nos Athirudram and numerous Jata Parayanams. As a BHEL – Tiruchy retired employee , I offer my heartfelt condolences to the berieved family . Shri.Ravi was having very high sugar ; no of times – I was told- his close associates had taken him to the hospital and saved him . A great loss to the Sanatana Dharma . Efforts should be made by all of us to commomerate jointly his memory by organising Athirudram every year on the day of his departure from this world . I am ready to contribute to such an event .

  10. Hara Hara Sankara.

  11. Maha Periyava staunch Devotee Shri Ravi ‘ s Soul Rest in Peace. Great Loss to Periyava devotees and his family. Extremely sad since he is my friend Shri T K Vaidyanathan son.

    • We pray for Ravi’s soul to merge with Mahaperiava. His dedication to Mahspeiava is immeasurable. We pray Periava to give the required strength to Sri TKV and family to bear the unbearable loss.

  14. Even though Shri. Ravi was seriously ill recently, the news was a shocking and very sad one.
Because of Shri. Ravi, from 2011 ( after my retirement ) I had the good fortune to visit the remote villages / unique places in which Sri. Ravi has conducted Jataparayanam & Ati Rudram. And thereby I could get the acquaintance of lot of Maha Periyava devotees.Definitely we are all going to miss Sri. Ravi for along time to come and it is an irreparable loss.

With Maha Periyava’s Anugraham, I could meet Shri. Ravi, talk to him and prostrate before him on 26th at
    Kariapatti.

Jaya Jaya Sanakra ! Hara Hara Sanakra.

  15. What a untimely demise, but that is what nature does with everybody, sometimes mercilessly! Such noble people’s presence is very much required in this World, in a present scenario. We don’t have any control over this. We all can do is, to prey Maha Periva to give more strength, to bear this irrecoverable loss, to the departed soul. I am sure such pious people will finally reach to the lotus feet of Maha Periva only.

  16. I attended the previous event which he had organized at Nerur, a few months ago— Mahaperiava’s Anugraham. I could not meet him there on that day, as he was hospitalized in Trichy due to high sugar.
When he could organize such difficult Vedic events, it is not difficult for him to arrange another person to give continuity to his Divine service to the world. I am sure his soul will be present in all such events.

  17. BLESSED DEVOTEES WHO WERE FORTUNE IN GURU KAINKARYAM OF SRI ACHARYALS ARE ALWAYS WITH HIM UNDER HIS HOLY PADHAM

  18. RIP. We are all quite unfortunate . But Bhavan decides something else .The loss is unbearable for those who knew his qualities and unblemished attitude. Definitely His soul will

    rest in peace in Heaven

  19. A Great Devotee of Mahaperiyava
    Om Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi.

  20. Our prayers for the departed soul to reach the lotus feet of Lord Shiva.
Our pranams to such a great soul.

  21. unfortunately Ravi Anna va nerula sandikkara saubhagyamennudaya inda janmathula kidaikala;enna oru quality irundurukkum avarta, periyava avarta atirudrangal organise pannunu utharavu kodutha?

  22. Can one share his address please

  23. Possibly god’s might have thought to conduct the athirudram at their place and since they could not readily find a committed, dedicated vedic event organiser/ coordinator…. Simply they have lifted Ravi’s soul from srirangam….
