ஸ்ரீமாதாவான அம்பாள் வாஸ்தவமாகவே தேரழுந்தூரில் கோமாதாவாக வந்ததாக அந்த ஊர் ஸ்தல புராணத்தில் இருக்கிறது. அப்போது ரொம்பவும் பொருத்தமாக, கோபாலக்ருஷண மூர்த்தியாகப் பிற்காலத்தில் வந்த அவளுடைய ஸஹோதரரான மஹாவிஷ்ணுவே பசு ரூபத்திலிருந்த அவளை ஸம்ரக்ஷித்தாரென்றும், அப்புறம் கோபாலரான அவர் பசுபதியான பரமேச்வரனுக்கு அவளைத் திருமணஞ்சேரியில் கன்யாதானம் செய்து கொடுத்தாரென்றும் ஐந்தாறு ஸ்தல புராணங்களை ஒன்றாக இணைத்துக் கதை இருக்கிறது. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்
The Sthala Purana of Therezhundhur has it that Ambal had really incarnated as Gho Matha in that place. There is a story combining some five or six Puranas, which describes how aptly Her brother Mahavishnu who later incarnated as Gopala Krishnamurthi, took care of Her who was in the form of a cow and how the same Gopalan gave Her hand in wedding to Parameswaran who is the Pashupathy, in a place called Thirumanancheri. – Jagadguru Chandrasekharendra Saraswathy Swamigal
