கோலாகல குதூகல குணாளர்

அப்பழுக்கற்ற ஞானஜோதியாகத் திகழும் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா சுகப்ரஹ்ம ரிஷிக்கு ஒப்பான பிரம்மரிஷி என்ற உயர்வுடையவராவார். இத்தனை மேன்மையான உயர்வு நிலையையும் உலகத்தோருக்கெல்லாம் மறைத்து நம்மில் ஒருவராய் மாமுனிவரென்ற உருவில் நம் கீழ்நிலைக்கும் அனுக்ரஹம் செய்து நம்மை உய்விக்கவந்த பெருந்தெய்வம் அந்த கருணாமூர்த்தியாவார்.

இப்படிப்பட்ட பெரும் கடாக்ஷமஹிமையை உணர்ந்து அனுபவிக்க சிலருக்கு மட்டுமே பாக்யம் கிட்டியுள்ளது. அடடா! இந்த மாபெரும் ஞானி ஏன் தன்னை இத்தனை எளிமையாக்கிக்கொண்டு இன்னொரு ராமச்சந்திர மூர்த்தியாய் உலகோரின் சுக துக்கங்களுக்கிடையில் தன்னை வருத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று அந்தப் பேரருளைப் பரிபூர்ணமாக, நன்றி மறவா சிந்தைனையோடு நினைத்து உருகியவர்களில் ஸ்ரீ பிரதோஷம் மாமா ஒருவராவார்.

இத்தனையாமாற்றை அறிந்திலேன் எம்பெருமான் என்று சிலாகித்து அந்த மாபெரும் காருண்ய வள்ளலுக்கு நாம் எப்படியெல்லாம் கைம்மாறு செய்யலாமென்று நன்றிக் கடனைத் திருப்பிச் செலுத்தும் மாமனது கொண்டு, அந்த தெய்வத்தின் ஜயந்தி உற்சவங்களை கோலாகலமாகவும், குதூகலமாகவும் கொண்டாடும் பாக்யம் பெற்றவராக மாமா திகழ்கிறார். சேலத்தில் தன் உத்யோகக் கஷ்டங்களுக்கு நடுவே, எளிமையாக சுமார் முப்பது வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பே ஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளின் ஜயந்தி உற்சவங்கள் பிரதோஷம் மாமாவின் இல்லத்தில் ஆரம்பமாகி விட்டன. கணபதி ஹோமம், ஆயுஷ்ஹோமம் எனக் காலையில் நடந்தேற, ஏழை எளியோரின் மனமும் வயிறும் குளிர அன்னதானமும் நடைபெறுவதுண்டு.

இந்தக் கொண்டாட்ட வைபவங்கள் மாமா எழும்பூருக்கு மாற்றலானபோது மேலும் சிறப்புற்றன. வருட ஜயந்தி என்பது மாத ஜயந்தியாக ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் புறப்பாட்டுடன் நடைபெற, ஆண்டுதோறும் மஹாஜயந்தி உற்சவம் மஹாருத்ர  பாராயண ஜபஹோமங்களாகவும், திருத்தேர் மற்றும் பூப்பல்லக்கு புறப்பாடுகளாகவும், பெரும்பாலும் சென்னைவாழ் பெரியவா பக்தர்களை சேர்ப்பிக்கும் வகையிலும், பெரியவா பக்தி ருசி அறியாத மற்றவர்களுக்கும் அதன் இனிப்பான அனுபவங்களைத் தந்து ஈர்க்கும் தெய்வீகப் பணியாகவும் கொண்டாடப்பட்டன.

பரவசப்படுத்தியிருக்குமோ?  சந்தேகமில்லாமல் மாமாவின் பரம பக்தியை ஆதாரமாகக் கொண்டிருந்த இந்தக் கொண்டாட்டங்கள், விருப்பு வெறுப்புகளுக்கெல்லாம் அப்பாற்பட்ட அந்த பிரம்ம வஸ்துவை, மாமாவின் இந்த பக்திக் கொண்டாட்டங்கள், கோலாகலங்களில் குதூகலிக்கும் குழந்தையாக ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் அங்கீகாரத்தைப் பெற்றன.

சான்றாக பல அதிசய சம்பவங்கள்

ஒருமுறை எழும்பூரில் மாத ஜயந்தி புறப்பாட்டிற்கு ஏற்பாடுகள் ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டன. மாதந்தோறும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு மலர் அலங்காரம் செய்து அருள் பெறும் ஒரு அன்பருக்கு அன்று ஏனோ வர மனமில்லை. நேரம் ஆக ஆக மாமாவின் மனம் அடித்துக் கொண்டது. மலர் மணம் கொண்ட பிரானை மாலைகளால் நேர்த்தியாக அலங்காரம் செய்து மனமகிழ்வது இன்று தடைப்பட்டு விடுமோ? குறிப்பிட்ட அந்த அன்பரைத் தவிர அழகாக அலங்காரம் செய்பவர் வேறு யாரும் இல்லையே, இப்படி ஒரு குறையுடன் சுவாமி புறப்பாடு அமைய குருதவ முனிவர் கைவிட்டு விடுவாரோ என மாமாவின் மன உளைச்சல் மிகுதியாயிற்று.

யாமிருக்க பயம் ஏன் என்று அபயமளிக்கும் வகையில் எங்கிருந்தோ திடீரென்று ஒரு பக்தர் அங்கு தோன்றி நின்றார். சாக்ஷாத் மஹாபெரியவாளின் காவி வஸ்திரத்திலேயே இந்த பக்தரும் காட்சி அளித்தார். தீட்சை வளர்த்திருந்த அந்தப் பெரியவர்  தன்னை முருகனடிமை என்று அறிமுகம் செய்து கொண்டார். ஏதோ வந்தவர்போல் தோன்றவில்லை. தனக்கு சுவாமி அலங்காரம் செய்வது கைவந்த கலை என்று இதற்காகவே பிரத்தியேகமாக வந்தவர்போல் சொல்லி நின்றார். அளவிட முடியாத ஆனந்தத்தில் மாமா இந்த அதிசயத்தை எதிர்கொண்டார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் கருணையால் உருகிய மாமாவின் உள்ளம் உணர்ச்சிப் பெருக்கில், “பெரியவாளே! கைவிடாம காப்பாத்திட்டயே!” என்றது.

எந்த முறையுமில்லாது இந்த முறை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் அலங்காரம் சற்றே விசேஷமாக அமைந்து அனைவரையும் ஈர்த்தது. திடுதிப்பென்று எங்கிருந்தோ உதித்து காவி உடையோடு காருண்யரை அலங்கரித்து அனைவரையும் ஆனந்திக்க வைத்த அந்த முருகனடிமை, புறப்பாடு முடியும்போது யார் கண்ணிலும் படாமல் மாயமாய் மறைந்துவிட்டது ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளின் பேரனுக்கிரஹ செயலன்றி வேறு என்னவாக இருக்க முடியும்?

ஒருமுறை ஜயந்தி உற்சவத்திற்கு, மீரஜ் சென்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் உத்தரவு வாங்க மாமா வேண்டினார். உடனே அனுக்கிரஹம் கிடைக்காததால், சற்றே மனவருத்தத்துடன், “பெரியவா ஜயந்தி பண்றேன்! அனுக்கிரஹம் பண்ணலையே!’ என்று மாமா ஏங்கி நின்றார். ஆனால் மஹாபெரியவாளோ மறுநாள் வரை உத்தரவு அருளாமல், தன் ஜயந்தி பற்றி ஒன்றும் கூறாமல் ஸ்ரீ பகவத் பாதாள் ஜயந்தியை விஸ்தாரமாகக் கொண்டாட அருளினார். கொண்டாட்டம் எப்படி அமைய வேண்டுமென்று விளக்கிக்கூறும் அளவிற்கு மஹான் ஸ்ரீ ஆதிசங்கரர் ஜயந்தியில் தன் ஈடுபாட்டை எடுத்தியம்பினார். சுவாமி புறப்பாட்டில், கபாலி ஓதுவார் தேவாரம், வெங்கடவரதன் அவர்களின் திருவாய்மொழி, திருப்புகழ், மராட்டி பஜனை என தானே தன் திருவாக்கினால் பண்ணச் சொன்னதில்  பரம்பொருளின் குருபக்தி மேன்மை புலப்பட்டது. மேலும் கிருஷ்ணமூர்த்தி சாஸ்திரிகளைக் கொண்டு பிருகுவல்லி பாராயணம் செய்யவும் ஆணையிட்டார். பிருகுவல்லி பாராயணம் செய்து அதைக் கேட்பவர்களுக்கு ஆத்ம தரிசனம் பெறும் வழி வகுக்கும் இப்பேற்பட்ட பேரானந்த நிலை வேண்டி நின்ற மாமாவிற்காகவே காருண்யர் இந்தக் கட்டளை இட்டிருக்க வேண்டும்.

ஜயந்திக்கு உத்தரவு அருளவில்லையே என்ற பெரும் வருத்தத்தோடு அங்கிருந்து அகன்ற மாமாவை தாயினும் மேலான கருணையோடு தயாளர் கூப்பிட்டு, “என் பக்தன் அழுதுண்டு போறார். என் ஜயந்தியையும் பண்ணச் சொல்லு”  என்று அன்பாக உத்தரவளித்து அனுப்பினார்.

அந்த வருடம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் உத்தரவுப்படி சங்கர ஜயந்தி விமரிசையாக நடைபெற்றது. பிருகுவல்லி பாராயணம் செய்யப்பட்டது. ஆனால் பெரியவாளின் ஜயந்தி எளிமையான முறையில் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. உற்சவங்கள் முடிந்தபின் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்குப் பிரசாதம் சமர்ப்பிக்க மாமா வடக்கே சென்றபோது விளையாடிப் பார்க்கும் விதமாக, “என் ஜயந்தியை சுருக்கிட்டயோ?”  என்று குழந்தை தாயிடம் கேட்கும் பதத்தில் ஜகத்குரு மாமாவைக் கேட்டுத் திகைக்க வைத்தார்.

என் ஜயந்தியையும் கோலாகலமாக, குதூகலமாகக் கொண்டாடலாமென இப்படி குறிப்பாக குருநாதரின் கட்டளையைப் பெறுவதென்பது எப்பேற்பட்ட பெரும் பாக்கியம்! அப்பெரும் பாக்கியத்தைப் பெற்றுவிட்ட மாமாவிற்கு வருடா வருடம் மேன் மேலும் மஹபெரியவாளின் ஜயந்தி உற்சவங்கள் சிறப்படைய ஒரு சாஸ்வத அனுக்கிரஹமாக “சுருக்கிட்டயோ” என்ற அருள் வாக்கு அமைந்துவிட்டது.

கேட்டதைக் கொடுத்து நினைத்ததை அருள்பவன்.

இதற்குப்பின் ஆண்டுதோரும் மஹானின் ஜயந்தி உற்சவங்களின் எல்லா அம்சங்களிலும் பேரருளாளரின் அனுக்கிரஹமழை பொழிய ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டது. மஹாருத்ர ஜபத்திற்காக திரவியம் சேர்ப்பது முதல் ஆரம்பித்து வைதீக லௌகீக சம்பிரதாயங்களிலும், தேர், பல்லக்கு, திருவீதி உலா வரை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் பரிபூர்ண அனுக்கிரஹம் உணரப் பெற்றது.

ஒரு மஹாஜயந்தியின்போது அட்சதை குறைவாக இருந்தது. மாமா கலக்கமுற்றார். “கூடிவரும் பகதர்களுக்கு மூன்று நாள் உற்சவத்திற்கு இந்த அட்சதை போறாதே!” என்று வாய்விட்டுத் தன் துணைவியாரிடம் மாமா வருத்தப்பட்டார். ஒருநொடி கூட தாண்டவில்லை. ஒரு குழந்தை ஓடோடி உள்ளே வந்து, “வாசலில் கார் வந்திருக்கு” என்றது. காரில் வந்த பரசுராமன் தம்பதியினர், தாங்கள் மட்டும் இறங்காமல் சாக்ஷாத் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் அருள் மூட்டையாக இரண்டு அட்சதை மூட்டைகளையும் கொண்டுவந்து எதிர்பாராதவிதமாக இறக்கி வைத்துவிட்டுச் சென்றனர். இங்கே மாமா நினைத்த மாத்திரத்திலேயே ஏதோ ஒரு தம்பதியினர் மனத்தில் தோன்றிய ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாள் உண்டாக்கிவிட்ட எண்ணம் செயல்பட்டு கோரிக்கை நிறைவேறிவிட்டது.

மற்றொரு ஜயந்தி. மாமாவின் துணைவியார் ஜயந்திக்கு, சுவாசினி பூஜைக்கான மங்கள திரவியங்களான புடவை, கண்ணாடி, வளையல் எல்லாம் வந்துவிட்டன. ஆனால் உற்சவத்திற்கு வரும் மற்ற சுமங்கலிகளுக்கு  வைத்துக் கொடுக்க ரவிக்கை இல்லையே என ஆதங்கத்தோடு கூறி வாய்கூட மூடவில்லை, வாசலில் பாம்பே ரமணி என்ற அன்பர் ஒரு துணிக் கட்டோடு வந்து நிற்கிறார். அந்த மூட்டையில் வேறென்ன இருக்க முடியும்? இங்கே மாமியின் நியாயமான ஏக்கத்தில் எழுந்த கோரிக்கைக்கு விடையல்லவா ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாள் அளித்து அருளியுள்ளார்! எப்போதும் இல்லாமல் அதிசயமாக 127 ரவிக்கைத் துண்டுகளை மட்டுமே சேர்ப்பிக்க அன்பர் ரமணியின் மனத்தில் எண்ணத்தை விதைத்த வித்தகரின் இந்த விந்தையை என்னென்று வியப்பது?

ஒருமுறை சுவாமி புறப்பாட்டிற்கு எல்லா ஏற்பாடுகளும் செய்தாயிற்று. ஆனால் வருடந்தோறும் வரும் யானையை அழைத்துவரத் தடை ஏற்பட்டது. மந்திரிகள் வரை முயற்சித்தும் அனுமதி கிடைக்கவில்லை. அப்போது ஸ்ரீ ராதா கிருஷ்ணன் போலிஸ் ஐ.ஜி.-ஆக இருந்தார். அவரிடம் இதற்கான அனுமதி கேட்கலாமென  ஒரு அன்பர் கூற, உரிய கோரிக்கையை விண்ணப்பமாகத் தயார் செய்து மாமா அந்த அன்பரை அனுப்பத் தயாராயிருந்தார்.

இந்த தெய்வத்திற்கு, கும்பிடப் போகவேண்டுமென்ற அவசியம்கூட இல்லை. கூப்பிடும் பக்தர்களின் குறை தீர்க்க ஓடி வருவேன் என்பதுபோல், பெரிய ஆச்சரியமாய், எந்த போலிஸ் ஆஃபீஸரைப் பார்க்க மாமா அனுப்ப எத்தனித்தாரோ, அதே ஐ.ஜி உற்சவத்தில் கலந்து கொள்ள காரில் வந்து இறங்குகிறார். நான் ஒரு போலிஸ் கூட்டத்தையே அனுப்புகிறேன், பயப்படாமல் இருங்கள் என்று தானே வலியவந்து யானை ஊர்வலத்தில் கலந்து கொள்ள அனுமதியும் தந்துவிட்டுச் செல்கிறார்.

இதை அதிசயம் என்பதா? அனுக்கிரஹ மேன்மை என்று வியப்பதா? பிரதோஷம் மாமாவின் அதீத பக்திக்கான ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் அங்கீகாரம் என்று சிலாகிப்பதா? ஆனால் மாமாவின் பரிபூர்ண மனத்தாழத்திலிருந்து எழும், ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு நன்றிக்கடன் என்ற எண்ணம் வடிவமைக்கும் ஜயந்தி உற்சவங்களில் ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாள் தானே தன் ஜயந்தி உற்சவங்களை தன் அதீத பக்தரின் அபிலாஷைகளுக்காகவே நடத்தி ஒவ்வொரு கட்டத்திலும் காப்பாற்றியுள்ளது சர்வ நிச்சயம்.

இது சத்தியம் என்பதற்கோர் சம்பவம்

காஞ்சியில் தேர்! வருண பகவானே இந்தக் கோலாகலத்தில் உற்சாகம் மிகுந்தவனாகி சுவாமி புறப்பாட்டின்போது பொழிகின்றான். மழையைப் பொருட்டாக நினைக்காமல் முதியோரும், பாலகரும் மற்ற பக்தர்களும் தேரில் பகவானை, தங்கள் பக்தி வடம் கொண்டு இழுத்து இன்புறுகின்றனர்.

காஞ்சி ராஜ வீதிகளை வலம் வந்து, திருத்தேர் பங்காரு தோட்டத்தை அடைகிறது. குறுகிய சாலை. மேலே மின்சாரக் கம்பிகள். தேரின் உயரமோ அளந்து வைத்தாற்போல் கம்பிகளை சற்றே உரசும் நிலையில் இருந்தன. அதுவரை ராஜ வீதிகளிலும், பிரதான சாலைகளிலும் தேரை மின்சாரக் கம்பிகளின் அபாயத்திலிருந்து காப்பாற்றி இழுத்தாயிற்று.

இப்போதும் அதே உற்சாகத்தில் பக்தர்களின் இழுத்த இழுப்பிற்கு இசைந்து வந்த தேர் ஏதோ ஒரு இடி போன்ற சப்தம் எழ சற்றே நின்றது. ‘ஹர ஹர சங்கர! ஜய ஜய சங்கர!’ என்ற நாமம் ஒலிக்க அந்த சப்தம் அடங்கிப் போனது. ஆனாலும் ஒரு பேராபத்து வந்து போனதாக அந்த சப்தம் அறிவித்து விட்டிருந்தது.

தேர் உச்சியில் குறுக்கே சென்ற ஹைவோல்டேஜ் மின்சாரக் கம்பிகள் உரசப்பட்டதில், பக்கத்திலிருந்த டிரான்ஸ்ஃபார்மரிலிருந்து அந்த சப்தம் எழுந்துள்ளது. சொட்டச் சொட்ட ஈரத்தில் இருந்த பக்தர்கள் இப்படிப்பட்ட பெரிய மின்சார ஆபத்திலிருந்து காப்பாற்றப்பட்டதை, பெரியவாளின் பேரருள் என மாமா அந்த க்ஷணமே உணர்ந்துவிட்டார். அபார கருணையை எண்ணி உருகினார்.

ஏதோ எதேச்சையாக நடந்த சம்பவத்திற்கு ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் அருள் என்று முடிச்சுப் போடவில்லை. இது அடுத்த நாளே ஊர்ஜிதம் செய்யப்பட்டுவிட்டது. மாமா ஜயந்திப் பிரசாதத்துடன் அடுத்த நாள் மஹானைத் தரிசிக்கப் போனபோது, சம்பவத்தைக் கூறி, “பெரியவாதான் காப்பாத்தினா” என்றார்.

“நான்தான் உச்சியிலிருந்து காப்பாத்தினேனே!” என்று தன் திருவாக்கினாலேயே ஓர் ஒப்புதல் வாக்குமூலத்தை கருணாமூர்த்தி அருளி நின்றார்.

தன் அபார சக்தியால் மலையென வந்த அபாயத்தையல்லவா ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அகற்றி, அந்தப் பெருங்கருணையையும் வெளிப்படுத்தி மாமாவின் பக்தியை அங்கீகரித்து அருளியுள்ளார்.

ஞானப்பழமும் மலை வாழப்பழமும்

“ஆமாம்! நீங்க கொண்டுபோற வாழைப்பழத்துக்குத்தான் பெரியவா காத்துண்டிருக்காராக்கும். ஏதோ கிடைச்ச பழத்தை வாங்கிண்டு வராம இத்தனை நேரம் தேடிப்பிடிச்சு வாங்கணுமாக்கும்? டிரைவர் பஸ்ஸைக் கிளப்பிட்டான். அவன் கிட்ட கெஞ்சிக் கூத்தாட வேண்டியதாப் போச்சு.” என்று தன் அசட்டுக் கணவரை ஓடும் பஸ்ஸில் அந்த தர்மபத்தினி திட்டித் தீர்த்தாள்.

பின்னே அசட்டுத்தனமாக பஸ்ஸில் மாமியை உட்கார வைத்துவிட்டு, கடை கடையாய் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு நல்ல மலைவாழைப்பழம் வேண்டுமே என்று யாராவது அலைவார்களா? ஆனால் பெரியவாமேல் கொண்ட பேரன்பு காரணமாக அந்த அன்பரின் சிரமத்தை மலைவாழையைத் தேர்வு செய்து வாங்க வைத்தது.

பஸ் காஞ்சியை அடைய, அன்பரும் அவருடைய துணைவியாரும் பரம்பொருளின் தரிசனத்துக்குச் சென்றனர். மாமி சொன்னதில் தப்பே இல்லை. பக்தர்களின் பெருங்கூட்டம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தரிசனம் கிடைக்குமா என்றது. மாமி சொன்னது போலவே மேடையில் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கென சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட வகை வகையான பழக்கூடைகள் நிறைந்திருந்தன. அசட்டுக் கணவரை மாமி ஓரக்கண்ணால் பார்த்து, “அப்பவே சொன்னேனே! பார்த்தீங்களா?” என்றாள். அந்த அப்பாவியோ எதையும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல் கூட்டத்தின் கோடியில் கருணாசாகரின் கடாக்ஷமே போதும் என்று ஏங்கி நின்றார்.

ஞான ஒளி தோன்றியது. அத்தனை கூட்டமும் எழுந்து நின்று எட்டத்தில் எங்கோ நின்ற வாழைப்பழ பக்தரை மறைத்தது. இடிபாடுகளில் பழம் நசுங்கிவிடப் போகிறதே என்ற கவலையோடு அன்பர் வாழைப்பழங்களைத் தலைக்குமேல் உயர்த்த, அந்தத் தருணத்திற்குக் காத்திருந்தது போல, அந்த ஞானப்பழம், “அதோ இருக்காரே, அவரைப் பழத்தைக் கொடுக்கச் சொல்லு!” என்று உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்து நின்றது. கூட்டம் விலக, அன்பரின் மலைவாழைப்பழம் மாமுனியிடம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. அதோடு நாடகம் நிற்கவில்லை. அந்தப் பழங்களில் ஒன்றை எடுத்து உரித்து பக்தரின் அன்புக் காணிக்கையை ஏற்று, பக்தருக்குத் திருப்தியளிக்க, பிரான் உட்கொண்டார்.

இதற்கும் மேலாக இன்னொரு பழத்தை எடுத்து உரித்திட்ட உத்தமர் தன் அருட்பார்வையால், கூடியிருந்த அத்தனை பக்தர்களுக்கு இடையே மாமியை நோக்கினார். மாமிக்கு சர்வமும் அடங்கிவிட்டதுபோல ஆகிவிட்டது. ஆனால் தடுத்தாட்கொள்ளும் தாயுமானவரல்லவா இந்த ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா? “இதை அந்த அம்மாளிடம் கொடு” என்று எங்கேயோ நின்ற மாமிக்கு தன் அருட்பழத்தை நல்கி நின்றார்.

மாமிக்கு சிலிர்த்தது. தன் அபசார வார்த்தைகளுக்கு வருந்தி சாட்சாத் ஈஸ்வரனின் மஹிமையை உணர்ந்ததில் அவர் கண்கள் குளமாயின.

இப்பேற்பட்ட பேரன்பு தெய்வத்தைப் பற்றிக் கொண்டு, யாவரும் சர்வ மங்களங்களையும், சர்வ ஐஸ்வர்ங்களையும் பெற அந்த தெய்வத்தின் அருளே வழி வகுக்கட்டும்.

ஞானமுனிவர் அலங்கரித்த பீடத்தில் தற்போது வீற்றிருக்கும் அருளாளர்களையும் தரிசித்து அருள் பெறுவோமாக!

A Gala Celebration for the kind Saint

Shri Mahaperiyava, due to His kindness, to bless all the people, like a Sugabrahma Rishi Saint, took avatar as Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyava, walked this earth and blessed us.

There are very few fortunate people who were blessed to realize Sri Periyava completely. Sri Pradosham Mama is one among those fortunate devotees. Mama was always surprised to see Sri Periyava leading a very simple life like Lord Sri Rama among the masses. Mama not only realized Sri Periyava completely, but also devoted his entire life in the thoughts of Sri Periyava.

True to the Devaram lines, “Ithanai yamatrai arinthilen”, Sri Pradosham Mama has always devoted his life in Sri Periyava’s thoughts and has been blessed by celebrating Sri Periyava’s jayanthi as a grand celebration. Thirty years ago, in Salem, Mama successfully managed his official duties and also celebrated Sri Periyava jayanthi in a simple way. Ganapathy homam and Ayush homam were performed followed by annadhanam.

When Mama was transferred to Chennai Egmore, these celebrations become even more special. The celebrations which were happening yearly now become a monthly event. The yearly Mahajayanthi celebration became grander with Maharudra parayanam, Homam and also included Sri Periyava being taken in a flower mannequin. The Chennai based Sri Periyava devotees were blessed to participate in these celebrations and there were new devotees who started their devotion to Sri Periyava.

Would it have been a blessing? That can be said without a doubt because these celebrations were based on Mama’s deep devotion for Sri Periyava. These celebrations were also special because they had been approved and blessed by Sarveshwaran Sri Periyava Himself.

Many miracles as a proof

Once during the monthly Jayanthi celebration, everything was almost ready for Sri Periyava’s procession. One of the devotee who was responsible for bringing the flowers was not planning to attend. As time passed, Sri Pradosham Mama was feeling restless. He felt that, on that day he might not be able to enjoy seeing Sri Periyava decorated with flowers. There was no one else who could decorate Sri Periyava with flowers so beautifully. Mama’s fear grew and he felt that on that day, Sri Periyava would have to be taken without the floral decorations.

What was to fear when Sri Periyava is there? A new devotee suddenly appeared there. The devotee had Saffron cloth clad on him. He had received Deekshai and introduced himself as a devotee of Lord Murugan. It did not look like he had only come there for attending the celebration. The devotee said that he was specialized in doing floral decorations and would be happy to do it. Sri Pradosham Mama was very happy after hearing this. Mama’s heart melted at Sri Periyava’s kindness and Mama thanked Sri Periyava for fulfilling his wishes.

The floral decorations seemed to be very special compared to the usual times. The saffron clad devotee who had appeared from nowhere and who had decorated Sri Periyava very beautifully, disappeared completely just before the procession was about to be over. What else could this have been other that Sri Periyava’s blessing?

Once Sri Pradosham Mama went to Miraj to seek blessings for celebrating jayanthi. Since Mama did not get the anugraham immediately he felt sad and waited. But Sri Periyava waited until the next day and then talked about celebrating Sri Bhagavadpada Jayanthi in a grand manner and did not talk anything about His jayanthi celebration. Sri Periyava also laid out a detailed plan for celebrating Sankara jayanthi that showed His interest in that celebration. Sri Periyava talked about Kabali singing Devaram, Venkatavaradhan doing Thiruvaimozhi and Thirupugazh with some Marathi bhajans. This showed Sri Periyava’s guru bhakti. He also asked to invite Krishnamoorthy Shastry to perform Bhriguvalli parayanam. It is believed that anyone performing or hearing this parayanam will be blessed with Atma Darshan. But as Sri Pradosham Mama started from there sadly, Sri Periyava called him and asked Mama to celebrate His jayanthi also.

That year, Sankara jayanthi was celebrated in a grand manner with Bhriguvalli parayanam. Sri Periyava jayanthi was celebrated in a simple way. After the celebrations, when Sri Pradosham Mama went North for Sri Periyava’s darshan and to give the prasadam, Sri Periyava shocked Mama by asking, “Did you celebrate my jayanthi in a simple way?”

How blessed was Sri Pradosham Mama to get Sri Periyava’s approval for the jayanthi celebration in this way? This statement was Sri Pradosham Mama’s blessings to continue performing the jayanthi and the celebration becoming grander every time.

One who gives what is asked and blesses what is thought

After this event, every year, Sri Periyava’s blessings were clearly seen during all the jayanthi celebration. Starting from Maharudra japam, Sarveshwaran’s blessings were seen in all the other activities beginning with the homams performed until the procession was complete.

During one of the Mahajayanthi celebration, there was a shortage of akchathai (rice). Mama was feeling restless. Sri Pradosham Mama informed Maami that the atchathai might not be sufficient for all the devotees for the three day celebration. Not even a second passed, and a kid came running inside and informed Mama that a car has come. Parasuraman couple had come in the car. They did not come empty handed. They had two bags of akchathai along with them. The moment Sri Pradosham Mama had thought about this, through some couple, Sri Periyava had arranged for the akchathai.

Another jayanthi celebration. For the Suvasini Pooja, all the items like saree, mirrors and bangles were already. Only the blouse was missing. Maami told this to Sri Pradosham Mama. Again not even a second passed, and a devotee Bombay Ramani stood at their door with the bag of clothes. What else could be there in the bag? Sri Periyava had taken care of Maami’s request. Sri Periyava had implanted the thought in Ramani’s mind to deliver 127 blouse for this event. How can we not wonder at this miracle?

Once all the arrangements for the procession was complete. But there was a problem in bringing the usual elephant for the celebration. The permission was not granted even after reaching out to ministers. Sri Radhakrishnan was the IG during that time. Per the advice of one of the devotee, Mama wrote a letter to IG requesting permission and the devotee was ready to take it along.

There is no need to go and pray to Sri Periyava. Sri Periyava comes to His devotees to bless them. As if to prove that statement, before Mama sent the devotee the police officer himself arrived there in a car to attend the jayanthi celebration. On explaining the situation the officer immediately ordered a team of police for protection and also permitted to get the elephant for the procession.

Do we consider this a miracle? Or do we think this as a blessing? Or do we think of this as a sign of Pradosham Mama’s devotion? But it is true that these jayanthi celebration which Sri Pradosham Mama celebrates due to his devotion for Sri Periyava appears to be celebrated by Sri Periyava Himself to fulfill the wishes of His devotee Sri Pradosham Mama.

An incident to show His promise

The procession was at Kanchipuram. It was raining heavily as if Lord Varuna wanted to participate in the celebrations. All the devotees old and young ignored the rain and were enjoying and participating in the procession.

The procession completed its round and reached Bangaru Gardens. The road is narrow and there are electric wires are hanging low. The height of Sri Periyava’s Chariot was almost touching the wires. Until now the Chariot had been successfully pulled across all the other streets.

Even now as the crowd pulled the Chariot with the same enthusiasm, it suddenly stopped as there was a loud sound. As the sound of “Hara Hara Sankara, Jaya Jaya Sankara” echoed, the sound stopped. But the sound indirectly indicated that they had just passed a danger.

As the chariot had touched the high voltage wires, the sound had come from the nearby transformer. Sri Pradosham Mama realized the danger from which they had escaped, as everyone who had been pulling the Chariot were wet due to the rain. He was completely melted by the kindness of Sri Periyava.

Here a random act is not being tied with Sri Periyava’s blessings. Next day, when Sri Pradosham Mama took the prasadam and went for Sri Periyava’s darshan, he mentioned about the incident and said it was Sri Periyava who had saved them all.

Sri Periyava replied, “Yes I was above you all and saved you” indicating that whatever Pradosham Mama had told was true.

Sri Periyava had easily knocked off a major danger for the devotees and approved Sri Pradosham Mama’s devotion.

Banana and the fruit of knowledge

“Is Sri Periyava waiting for the fruits that you are buying? Can’t you buy whatever fruit was available and come back soon? I had to beg the bus driver to wait for you to come.” The wife scolded the husband in the moving bus.

But who will ask their wife to get on and wait in a bus, when they were busy searching for a good mountain variety of Banana? But due to his devotion and love for Sri Periyava, he wanted to get the best fruits available.

As the bus reached Kanchi, the devotee and his wife went for Sri Periyava’s darshan. It looked as if Maami was right. There was a very long line of devotees waiting for Sri Periyava’s darshan. As Maami had told, there were plates with lots of fruits placed before Sri Periyava. Maami looked at his husband and said, “See, I had told you the same earlier.” But the devotee ignored and was only waiting for Sri Periyava’s vision to fall on him.

As everyone stood and blocked Sri Periyava’s darshan, the devotee lifted the fruits above his head so that they do not get damaged. Is was as if Sri Periyava was waiting for that instant. Sri Periyava said, “Look at that devotee. Ask him to give the fruits he had brought.” As the crowd moved, the devotee offered the fruits to Sri Periyava. But the blessings did not stop there. Sri Periyava took one and accepted the offering by eating the fruit.

As Sri Periyava took another fruit and peeled it, the devotee looked at Maami. She did not know what to say. But Sri Periyava called the Maami and gave the second fruit to her. Maami’s eyes were filled with tears as she understood that Sri Periyava was blessing her even though she had not talked properly earlier in the day.

It is true that if we surrender at the feet of Sri Periyava, we will be blessed with health, wealth, peace and happiness. Let us also have darshan and seek blessings from the current Guru of the Kanchi Srimatam.

Grace will continues to grow.
