ருக்மாங்கதன் தன் ராஜ்யத்தில் அத்தனை பேரையும் ஏகாதசி விரதம் இருக்கும்படியாகப் பண்ணினான். அதனால் ப்ரஜைகள் எல்லோரும் பக்தி ஞானங்களில் முன்னேறியதோடு நல்ல ஆயுர்-ஆரோக்யங்களுடனும் இருந்தார்கள் என்று நாரத புராணத்தில் இருக்கிறது.

ரொம்பவும் உச்சத்திலுள்ள ராஜாக்கள் மட்டுமில்லை. கைசிகன் என்று தீண்டாதார் வகுப்பைச் சேர்ந்த பக்தர். இவரும் ஏகாதசி உபவாஸ நியமத்தால் உயர்வு பெற்றிருக்கிறார். ‘கைசிக ஏகாதசி’ என்றே ஒரு ஏகாதசிக்கு வைஷ்ணவர்கள் பெயர் சொல்வார்கள். –  ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்

Rukmangadan made all his subjects observe Ekadasi Vrata.  Therefore, it is said in Narada Purana that the people not only advanced in Bhakti and Gnana, but were also hale and healthy.

It is not only the Kings of the highest order.  There was one devotee by name Kaisikan, belonging to the untouchables.  He is also well-known because of observance of Ekadasi.  Vaishnavas have named one Ekadasi itself as ‘Kaisika Ekadasi’. –  Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal
