Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara – A small and very touching incident shared by Shri Mahalingam and translated by Shri R. Sridhar, our volunteer. The only way to stop this is, we all come together and save more cows that are going to abattoirs for slaughter. Rama Rama

Can we sell our Mother?
One day Mahaperiyavaa was asking all those who had come for Darshan ‘Can we sell our Mother? Can we sell her just because she has become old?’
People around Him were perplexed at these queries. Why should some one sell their Mother and that too an aged Mother? Even if we sell who will buy her? We have never heard someone selling their mother. So everyone said in one voice ‘A Mother should never be sold’.
Mahaperiyava continued ‘But such an heinous act is happening in our country. In which State? Is it in Himachal? Or Arunachal? No. Its happening in our own Tamilnadu. Everyday several hundreds are being sold. The purchaser takes it away somewhere’.
The people who had been serving Mahaperiyava, for decades, had never heard Him speak with such grief anytime before.
‘We worship the cow calling it Go-Maatha, bathing it and decorating it with Kungumam. We drink the Cow’s milk, though we do not give it to temple (for abishegam). But once it becomes old and stops giving milk, we don’t tend it at home. We simply sell it to the butcher. This is atrocious. If we kill the Cow, which is the embodiment of all deities, how will God protect us? Rich people must build ‘Go-Shaalas’ (Cow-Sheds) and protect the old cows’.
The five things which we get from the cow (Pancha-Gavyam) are essential for the worship of the Divine.
Mahaperiva’s Love and compassions towards the Cows knows no barriers. When He sees them He will get transformed as Sri Krishna (cow-herd) of Gokulam.
Thanks : Srimatam, Sri Balu Mama, in his book ‘Kachimudoor Karunamoorthy’.

Respected members of this forum –
I am a hereditary deekshithar of the Chidambaram Nataraja temple. My father Kailasa Sankara deekshithar who has a great paasion for cows started a small cowshed several years back. Over the years many people in nearby villages came to know of this and started leaving their aged cows/bulls here. What startes as a small initiative has now grown to a goshala that houses 125 cows. We somehow are managing to pull through because of the Blessings of Kanchi Bala Periyava and with donations from a few kind hearted souls but it is a herculean task. We have sacrified almost everything on our personal front just to be able to feed the cows.
We would be deeply grateful if more people can come forward to help and be the recepients of Mahaperiyava and GoMatha’s grace.
You can contact me at this number – 9345743584. My name is Raja Parameswaran deekshithar but everyone calls me Periya Ambi deekshithar.
The goshala is a few kilometers from the Chidambaram temple and you can visit anytime. Please call me and I will give you all the details.
Hoping to hear from you. My humble request again.
