தர்ம வழிகாட்டும் வேதநாயகன்

ப்ரத்யக்ஷ பரமேஸ்வரரே ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவாளாய் அவதரித்து நம்மிடையே சுகப்பிரம்மரிஷி அவர்களின் தூய துறவறம் மற்றும் ஞான மேன்மையுடன் நமக்கெல்லாம் அருளைப் பொழிந்துள்ளார் என்பதை பல பக்தர்களின் பல அனுபவங்கள் உணர்த்துகின்றன.

நடமாடும் தெய்வமாய் பல மகிமைகளை புரிந்தருளும் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவாளெனும் பரமேஸ்வரர் நம்மிடமிருந்து எதிர்பார்க்கும் பிரதி உபகாரமாக என்ன இருக்ககூடுமென்று சிந்தித்தால் அது நாமெல்லாம் சனாதன தர்மங்களைக் கடைபிடித்து வாழ முயற்சிக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே முதன்மையாக கருதத்  தோன்றுகிறது. அதிலும் வேதம் சொல் நல்வழிகளைக் கடைபிடிப்பதுடன் வேதம் பயின்ற வித்தகர்களையும், வேதம் பயில்விக்கும் வேத பாடசாலைகளையும் தக்க வகையில் ஊக்குவித்து, நம்மாலான சிறு உதவிகளை பணமாகவோ, பணியாகவோ செய்ய வேண்டுமென்பதை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தானே அதற்கு முன் உதாரணம் காட்டிப் பல சம்பவங்களில் அருளியுள்ளது நமக்கெல்லாம் தெய்வ வழிகாட்டுதலாக அமைந்துள்ளது.

திரு. எம். சுப்பராமன் எனும் பக்தர் பெற்ற அனுபவங்கள் இதை ஒத்தே இருக்கின்றன. இவர் வேத ரக்ஷண நிதி டிரஸ்ட் என்ற அமைப்பிற்கு நிர்வாகியாக இருப்பவர்.

மகாகான் என்ற ஊரில் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தரிசனம் தந்த நேரமது. அங்கு ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் ரிக் வேத விற்பன்னர் ஸ்ரீ பத்மநாபாச்சார் என்பவர் வந்து வணங்கினார்.

ஸ்ரீ பத்மநாபாச்சார் தற்போது வாஜபேய என்ற உன்னதமான யாகம் செய்து முடித்து வந்திருந்தாலும், முன்பு ஒருமுறை அவர் ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க வந்தபோது அவர் எதிலும் பாண்டித்யம் பெறாமலிருந்தவர்தான். ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா ஸ்ரீ காஞ்சி பீடாதிபதியாக திருப்பணிகள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த சமயம் ஒரு சாதுர்மாஸ்ய விரத காலத்தில் இவர் தரிசிக்க வந்தார். சாதுர்மாஸ்ய காலங்களில் வேதம் பயின்றவர்கள் யாராவது ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க வந்தால் அவர்களுக்கெல்லாம் சம்பாவனை கொடுத்து அனுப்புவது ஸ்ரீமடத்தின் வழக்கம்.

அன்றைய தினம் ஸ்ரீ பத்மநாபாச்சார் தரிசித்தபோது, ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அவரிடம் வித்வத் சம்பாவனை பெற்றுக் கொண்டீர்களா என்று வினவினார்.

இவர் இல்லை என்றார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா இவரிடம் வேதம் முழுமையாகக் கற்றுள்ளீர்களா என்று கேட்டார்.

அதற்கு இவர் தயங்கியபடி, தான் வேதம் பயின்றதாகவும் ஆனால் பல பகுதிகளை மறந்துவிட்டதால் தனக்கு ஸ்ரீமடம் தரும் சம்பாவனையைப் பெற்றுக் கொள்ளும் தகுதி இல்லை எனக் கருதுவதாகவும் தெரிவித்தார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கருணையோடு ரிக் வேதத்தில் ஒரு பகுதியைக் குறிப்பிட்டு அதைத் தெரிந்தால் சொல்லுமாறு கூறினார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா குறிப்பிட்டுக் கேட்டதை இவரால் மறக்காமல் முழுப் பகுதியையும் சரளமாக சொல்ல முடிந்தது. இவர் அப்படி சொன்னதே வித்வத் சம்பாவனையைப் பெற தகுதி என்று ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் காருண்யம் தீர்ப்புக்கூறி அவருக்கு சம்பாவனை கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

மற்ற வேத விற்பன்னர்களுக்கு ஒப்ப இவருக்கும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா சம்பாவனை கிட்டச் செய்ததோடு நிறுத்திவிடவில்லை. மாத்துவ வகுப்பைச் சார்ந்திருந்த ஸ்ரீபத்மநாபாச்சார், அவ்வினத்தில் பொதுவாக சாஸ்திரங்களை கற்பதற்குக் கொடுக்கும் முக்கியத்துவத்தை வேத அத்யயனம் செய்தவற்குக் கொடுப்பதில்லை என்பதால் இவரும் அதன்படியே வேதத்தை முழுமையாக பயிலும் வாய்ப்பு பெறவில்லை.

ஆனால் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா திரு. சுப்பராமனிடம் உடனே சிறுகாமனி என்ற ஊரில் வேத ரக்ஷண  டிரஸ்ட் மேற்பார்வையில் ஒரு வேத பாடசாலை அமைக்க உத்தரவிட்டார். அவ்வூரைச் சார்ந்த ஸ்ரீபத்மநாபாச்சார் அவர்களையே அந்த வேத பாடசாலையின் உபாத்தியாயர் ஆக்கினார். அதன்படி அதில் மாத்துவ வகுப்பைச் சேர்ந்த மாணவர்களுக்கு வேதம் பயில்விக்கப்பட்டது.

ஸ்ரீ பத்மநாபாச்சார் அவர்களும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்குத் தான் காட்டும் நன்றிகடனாய் மிகவும் சிரத்தையாக வேத பாடசாலையை நடத்தியதோடல்லாமல், அவருடைய மூன்று பிள்ளைகளையும் வேத பாடசாலையில் சேர்த்து அவர்களையும் வேத பண்டிதராக்கினார்.

அப்படிப் பயின்ற இவருடைய இரு மகன்கள் வேத ரக்ஷண நிதி டிரஸ்டின் பாடசாலையில் வாத்யார்களாகவும் ஒரு மகன் மந்திராலயத்தின் ராகவேந்திர மடம் நடத்தும் வேதபாட சாலையிலும் பணி புரிகின்றனர்.

ஸ்ரீபத்மநாபாச்சார் பின்பு தர்மம் வழுவாத எளிய வாழ்க்கை வாழத் தொடங்கி நித்ய அக்னிஹோத்ரம் என்ற புனிதத்தைத் தொடங்கி பல யாகங்களைச் செய்யும் பாக்யம் பெற்றார். சென்ற சில நாட்களுக்கு முன் (அப்போதைய) அவர் வாஜபேய என்ற உயர்ந்தோரு யாகம் செய்து முடித்து ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் அதைக் கூறி ஆசிபெற மகாகான் வந்திருந்தார்.

ஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளைத் தரிசித்து யாகம் செய்ததைக் கூறி வணங்கினார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளும் முன்பு வித்வத் சம்பாவனை பெறும் தகுதி கூட தனக்கில்லை என்றவரை வாஜபேய யாகம் செய்யும் உயரத்திற்கு மேன்மைபடுத்திய தன் அனுக்கிரஹத்தை வெளிக்காட்டாமல் இன்முகத்தோடு ஆசி கூறினார்.

மிக்க மகிழ்ச்சியோடு ஸ்ரீபத்மநாபாச்சார் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் தான் ஊர் திரும்ப உத்தரவு கேட்டார். ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளோ அன்று அங்கேயே அவரைத் தங்குமாறு கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்.

அன்று மாலை சாண்டூர் மகாராஜா தன் குடும்பத்துடனும், பரிவாரங்களுடனும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க வந்தார். ராஜா வருவதற்கு முன்பே ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கைங்கர்யம் செய்பவர்களிடம் கோயில்களில் சுவாமி ஊர்வலத்தின்போது பிடித்துக் கொண்டு போகும் சுவாமி குடை எங்காவது இருந்தால் தேடிக் கொண்டு வருமாறு கூறியிருந்தார். அதன்படியே அவர்கள் மிகவும் கனமான பெரிதான குடையை எந்த கோயிலிலிருந்தோ தூக்க முடியாமல் கொண்டு வந்து வைத்திருந்தனர்.

சாண்டூர் மகாராஜா தரிசிக்க வந்ததும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அவருக்கும் குடும்பத்தினருக்கும் ஆசி நல்கிவிட்டு, சாஸ்திரத்திலும், நம் பண்பாட்டுபடியும் யார் ஒருவர் வாஜபேய யாகம் செய்கிறார்களோ அவர்களுக்குத் தக்க மரியாதையையும் உயர்வையும் தரும்விதமாக அவ்வூர் மகாராஜா குடையைப் பிடித்து மதிப்புத் தரவேண்டுமென்று கூறி அதன்படி மகாராஜா ஸ்ரீபத்மநாபாச்சார் அவர்களின் தலைக்கு மேலே பெரிய குடையைப் பிடித்தபடி அவரையும் அவர் பத்தினியையும் அவர்களை ஊர்வரை சென்று கொண்டுவிட முடியுமா என்று கேட்டார்.

சாண்டூர் மகாராஜா உடனே அதை ஏற்றார். குடையைத் தாங்கி அந்த தம்பதியினரை அவர்கள் இல்லம் வரை கொண்டு சேர்த்ததோடல்லாமல் அவர்களுக்கு ஒரு வீடு கட்டித் தருவதற்கும் தக்க ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்தார்.

வேதம் பயின்றோருக்கும், அதன்படி யாகம் செய்வோருக்கும் மகாராஜா குடைபிடித்து மரியாதை செய்ய வேண்டுமென்பதையும் அப்படியிருக்க நாமெல்லாம் அவர்களுக்கு எப்படியெல்லாம் மதிப்புத் தரவேண்டுமென்பதையும் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா இந்த சம்பவத்தின் மூலம் அனைவருக்கும் உணர்த்துவதாக இதைக் காணும் பாக்யம் பெற்ற சுப்பராமன் கூறுகிறார்.

இன்னொரு நெகிழ்ச்சியான சம்பவத்தையும் சுப்பராமன் பார்த்துள்ளார். ஒருமுறை ஷாகாபாத் அருகே ஒரு கிராமத்தில் டிரஸ்ட் சம்பந்தமாக சுப்பராமனும், T.V.S. ஐ சார்ந்த சில முக்கியஸ்தர்களும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தரிசித்து வேத நிதி டிரஸ்டிற்கான அறிவுரை பெற்றுக்கொண்டிருந்தபோது, ஆந்திராவிலிருந்து ஒரு ஏழையான வேத பண்டிதர் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க வந்தார்.

ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் சிவராத்திரி தினத்தன்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளெனும் ஈஸ்வரரை எங்கிருந்தாலும் தரிசிப்பதை அவர் பெரும் பாக்கியமாக கொண்டிருந்தாலும், அவரை  ஏழ்மை எனும் பிணியுடன் ‘பார்க்கின்ஸன்’ என்ற நரம்புத் தளர்ச்சி வியாதியும் பற்றியிருந்தது. நடக்கவோ, மனதில் தோன்றியதை சட்டென்று பேசவோ முடியாது. கை, கால்களெல்லாம் எப்போதும் தளர்ந்து ஆடிக் கொண்டேயிருக்கும். இப்பேற்பட்ட உடல் உபாதையிலும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளை சிவராத்திரி அன்று தரிசிக்காமல் பக்தர் விட்டதில்லை.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளும் தரிசிக்க வந்திருந்தவர் எளிய பரமபக்தர் என்பதையும் மீறி ஒரு வேத விற்பன்னர் என்பதால் அவரை பெரிதும் அனுக்ரஹித்தார். அங்கே தரிசிக்க வந்த ஸ்ரீராகவன் என்பவரையும் ஸ்ரீ.டி.ஏ.டி. சாரி என்பவரையும் உடல் இயலாமையால் தவிக்கும் பக்தருக்கு மாதம் 300 ரூபாயை சேர்ப்பிக்க முடியுமா எனக் கேட்டார். அவர்கள் இருவரும் உடனே ஒப்புக் கொண்டதுடன் அப்போதே ஸ்ரீபெரியவா சன்னதியில் பக்தரிடம் முதல் தவணையைக் கொடுத்தனர்.

அப்போதே சுப்பராமனிடம் அந்த வேத பண்டிதர் ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் கருணையை விளக்கினார். எப்போதும்போல் அவர் சிவராத்திரி தரிசனத்திற்கு வந்தபோது, ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா எப்போதும் அனுக்ரஹிப்பதுபோல் ஷால் ஒன்றைக் கொடுக்காமல் உத்தரவு நல்கிவிட்டார். இவருக்கோ மிக்க சோகமாகிவிட்டது. ஒவ்வொரு முறையும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா பிரசாதமாக தனக்குக் கிடைக்கும் ஷால் இப்போது கிடைக்கவில்லையே என்ற வருத்தத்தோடு ஊர் திரும்பினார். அவர் வீட்டில் ஒரு அதிசயம் காத்திருந்தது. ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா எனும் காருண்யர் இவருக்காக மரியாதை செய்து அனுப்பிய ஷாலும் சம்பாவனையும் ஏற்கனவே வந்திருந்தது.

உடல் உபாதையோடு இவர் வந்து தரிசிப்பதை தவிர்க்கவே ஸ்ரீபெரியவா இப்படி ஏற்கனவே அனுப்பியிருந்ததை அறிந்த இவர் ஆனந்தக் கண்ணீர் பெருக்கினார். இப்பேற்பட்ட தெய்வத்திடம் அதற்கான நன்றியை தெரிவிக்கவே மறுபடியும் இவர் வந்திருக்கிறார்.வந்தபோது இரட்டை பாக்யமாக தனக்கு மாதாமாதம் பென்ஷன் போல் 300 கிடைக்கும் பேரருளையும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா செய்து விட்டதாக அகமகிழ்ந்தார்.

திரு. சுப்பராமன் அனுபவித்த இந்த இரு சம்பவங்களும் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளெனும் பரமேஸ்வரர், வேதம் தழைக்கவும், வேதம் காக்கப்படவும் நாம் மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டிய சிரத்தையின் அவசியத்தை உணர்த்துகின்றன.

தற்போதைய காலகட்டத்தில் நம் குழந்தைகளில் ஒருவரை வேதமார்க்கமாக பயில்விக்க முடியாவிட்டாலும், இப்படி வேத பாடசாலை எனும் தர்மத்தை செய்பவர்களுக்கும், பாடசாலை பாலகர்களுக்கும் நம்மால் இயன்றவைகளை செய்யலாம்.

தந்தது உன் தன்னை கொண்டது என் தன்னை என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் பூர்ணானுக்ரஹத்தால் ஐக்கிய நிலையடைந்து ஸ்ரீபிரதோஷ நாயனாரின் பெரும் ஆவலை பூர்த்தி செய்யும் வகையில் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா திருக்கோயில் (பங்காரு தோட்டம்) நடத்திக் கொண்டிருக்கும் வேத பாடசாலை நாமெல்லாம் அந்த பாக்யத்தில் பங்குபெற வாய்பாய் அமைந்துள்ளது.

அந்த உன்னதமான பக்தரின் தவ வலிமையால் அவர் வழிகாட்டியபோது ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளை பக்தி செய்வதும், ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளெனும் பரமேஸ்வரரின் ஜயந்தி உற்சவங்களை பேட்டைக்கு பேட்டை கொண்டாடுவதும் தழைத்தோங்கி வருகின்றன. சேலம், சென்னை, சத்தியமங்கலம், காசி என்று பிரதோஷ நாயன்மாரின் அடிச்சுவட்டை பின்பற்றி ஸ்ரீமஹாபெரியவாளின் ஜயந்தி வைபவங்கள் சிறப்படைவது போன்று இந்த சிரவண மாதத்தில் ஒரு உத்தமமான வைதீக குடும்பத்தை சார்ந்தவர்களால் விஜயவாடா என்ற புனித பூமியில் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா ஜயந்தி குதூகலம் காணத் தொடங்கியுள்ளது.

இதற்கான வழிகாட்டுதல் பிரம்மஸ்ரீ பிரதோஷம் மாமாவின் ஆசி என்பதையும் இப்படி கொண்டாடி மகிழ்வது ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் அனுக்ரஹம் பெற்ற அக்னிஹோத்திரிகளான ஸ்ரீ குண்டூர் ராம சோமயாஜி என்ற ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் பரமபக்தர் என்பதாலும், விஜயவாடாவில் ஸ்ரீ கிருஷ்ணா நதி தீரத்தில் நடந்த ஒரு ஆபூர்வ சம்பவம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் பூர்ண அனுக்ரஹம் இந்த வைபவத்திற்கு அருளப்பட்டிருப்பதைக் காட்டுகிறது.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் சாந்நித்யம் பெற்ற காஞ்சி பங்காரு அம்மன் தோட்ட திருக்கோயிலிலிருந்து ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் விக்ரகம் விஜயவாடாவிற்குப் புறப்படலாயிற்று. கூடவே பரமபக்தர் ஸ்ரீராமரத்னம் அவர்களுடன் உஞ்சவிர்த்தி பாகவத பக்த ஜனங்களும் புனிதப் பயணத்தில் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

அன்று நம் பஞ்சாங்கம்படி ஆடி மாதமென்றாலும், ஆந்திர சம்பிரதயாப்படி சிரவணமாதம் எனும் ஆவணி பிறந்திருந்த மங்களவாரம் ஆகஸ்ட் 13-ஆம் நாள், ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் திவ்ய விக்ரஹத்திற்கு ஏகாதச ருத்ர அபிஷேகம் செய்விக்கப்பட்டது. காலையில் இந்த அபிஷேகம் முடிந்து மாlலை உற்சவமாக ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைப் புனித நதியாம் ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ணாவில் தெப்போற்சவம் காண செய்யலாமென்று பக்தர்கள் ஆவல் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

பக்தர்களின் ஆவலை அறிந்திருந்த கிருஷ்ணா நதியும் மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு முன் வாடியிருந்தாலும், திறந்துவிடப்பட்ட புனிதப் பெருக்கால் ஆவலோடு அலைமோதி ஓட ஆரம்பித்திருந்தது.

மாலை 5.30 மணி. மிகவும் ரம்மியமான சூழலில் கனகதுர்கா காட் எனும் நதித் துறைக்கு ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் விக்ரஹத்துடன், வேத பண்டிதர்களும், பாகவத சிரோன்மணிகளும் பக்தர்களும் தெப்போற்சவத்திற்கு சென்றனர். சூரிய அஸ்தமன வேளையில் வீசு தென்றலில், ஈசனின் தெப்ப ஊர்வலம் எப்பேற்பட்டதாக அமையப்போகிறதென்ற ஆவலோடு சென்றவர்களுக்கு ஏமாற்றம்.

ஆந்திராவில் தெலுங்கானா கலவரத்தினால் பந்த் என்பதாலும் கிருஷ்ணா நதியில் அப்படி ஒரு உற்சவம் செய்ய அனுமதி கிடையாதென்று மறுத்துவிட்டனர். இருந்தாலும் முயற்சியைக் கைவிடாமல் ஆந்திரா டூரிசம் அரைகிலோ மீட்டர் தூரத்தில் இருக்க அங்கே போய் பார்க்கலாமென்று பக்தர்கள் ஓடினர்.

அங்கே சென்றதும் ஒரு ஆறுதலாக படகில் செல்ல டிக்கட் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டது. ஆனால் அங்கே நதி தீரத்திற்குப் போனபோது அங்கேயிருந்தவர்கள் படகில் இதுபோன்று விக்ரகங்களை வைத்து உற்சவங்களை நடத்த அனுமதியில்லை என திடமாக மறுத்துவிட்டனர். எத்தனை சொல்லியும் ஏற்கவில்லை.

வாங்கியிருந்த அனுமதி டிக்கட்களுக்கு பணத்தைத் திருப்பித் தருவதாகக் கூறி விடாப்பிடியாக மறுக்கவே பக்தர்கள் பெரும் வருத்தத்துடன் அங்கிருந்து நகர்ந்தனர். ஆசையாக ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளுக்கு செய்யலாமென்றால் எதிர்பாராதவிதமாக தடை வந்துவிட்டதே என்ற சோர்வோடு அங்கிருந்து அகன்று கரையின் மேல் வந்தனர்.

இப்படி ஒரு பக்தகூட்டம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா விக்ரகத்துடன் செல்ல அதிசயமாக ஒரு படகு வந்து நின்றது. படகில் வந்த இருவர் இவர்களை அழைத்து விசாரித்தனர். இவர்கள் நடந்ததை சொன்னவுடன் அங்கிருந்த பணியாளர்களை அந்த இருவரில் ஒருவர் கடிந்து கொண்டார். உடனே நிலைமை தலைகீழானது.

நான் தருகிறேன் உத்தரவு என்று அந்த  நபர் அனுமதி கொடுத்ததோடு நிற்காமல் புத்தம் புதியதாக ஒரு போட்டை வரவழைத்து அதில் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா உற்சவம் காண வழிவகை செய்தார். சூரிய அஸ்தமனமாகி ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா மலர் மாலைகள் அலங்கரிக்க வேதகோஷம் முழங்க, பஜனை ஒலிக்க ஒளிவிளக்குகள் பிரகாசிக்க சுமார் முக்கால மணி நேரம் தெப்போற்சவத்தில் அருள்பாலித்து பக்தர்களுக்கு பெருமகிழ்ச்சி ஈந்தருளினார்.

அவர் ஏன் அங்கு அந்த சமயத்தில் வரவேண்டும்? ஏன் பிரத்யேகமானதொரு அனுமதி தரவேண்டும்? எல்லாம் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா தன் பக்தர்களுக்கு மட்டும் காட்டும் காருண்ய மகிமைதான்! கூடவே பிரதோஷ நாயன்மாரின் ஆசியும் அங்கே ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் சிரவண ஜயந்தி சிறப்புற்றது.

“The Lord of Vedas, who teaches us the path of Dharma”

Shri Mahaperiyava, due to His kindness, to bless all the people, like a Sugabrahma Rishi Saint, took avatar as Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyava, walked this earth and blessed us.

If we think deeply about what Sri Periyava, who helps and guides us all throughout our life, might expect back from us, it is none other than for us to do the duties as laid down by the Sanathana dharma. There are many incidents where Sri Periyava has clearly instructed us to follow a Vedic life, help Vedic scholars and Veda Patasala by either donating money or time by doing seva. Sri Periyava has stood as an example and has been a divine guiding light for all us in this regard.

The experiences of Sri M. Subbaraman has been in regard to this. He was the secretary of Veda Rakshana Nidhi trust. Sri Periyava was camping at Mahagaon during those days. Sri Padmanabhachar, a Rig Veda Scholar had come for Sri Periyava’s darshan. Even though he had performed the highly acclaimed Vajpayee yagna recently, when he had darshan of Sri Periyava previously, he was yet to become a Vedic Pundit. It was during the Chaturmasyam, when Sri Periyava was the Peetathipathi of Srimatam that Sri Padmanabhachar had gone for His darshan. It is a practice at Srimatam to honor any Vedic scholar who visits during Chaturmasyam. Sri Periyava enquired Padmanabhachar, if he had already received the “Vidvat Sambavanai”. He replied that he had not received it. Sri Periyava then asked if he had completed his Vedic learning. Sri Padmanabhachar replied that he had completed his Vedic learning, but since he has forgotten a lot of sections, he felt that he was not eligible to receive that benefit from Srimatam.

The kind hearted Sri Periyava mentioned a portion of the Rig Veda and asked him to recite it. Sri Padmanabhachar was able to recite that entire section without missing anything. Sri Periyava declared that reciting that particular section itself will make him eligible and he received the Sambavanai from Srimatam on that day. The blessings did not stop there. Shri Padmanabhachar like any Madhwa focused on learning the Shastras rather than the Vedas and so did not get a chance to complete his Vedic learning.

Sri Periyava immediately instructed Sri Subbaraman to setup a new Veda Patasala at Sirugamani under the supervision of Veda Rakshana trust. He also made Sri Padmanabhachar, who belonged to that village, to teach in the Patasala. It was created specifically to teach Veda for the Madhwa students in that area. Sri Padmanabhachar as a token of thank you for Sri Periyava ran the Veda Patasala in an excellent way. He also admitted all his three sons in the Patasala. All of them are Vedic scholars now, two of them teaching at a different Patasala run by Veda Rakshana trust and the other son is teaching at the Veda Patasala run by Raghavendra Srimatam at Mantralayam.

Sri Padmanabhachar later led a simple life and started performing the Nithya Agnihotram and was also blessed to perform many other yagnas. Only few days back he had completed Vajpayee yagna and had come to Mahagaon for informing that to Sri Periyava and seek His blessings. Few years back when Sri Padmanabhachar had said to Sri Periyava that he was not eligible to receive the Sambavanai from Srimatam, since Sri Periyava knew how things will turn out in the future, He had made sure that the Vedic scholar receives the credit that is due to him. Sri Periyava heard about the Vajpayee yagna and blessed him.

Sri Padmanabhachar was very happy after receiving His blessings and requested permission to leave. But Sri Periyava asked him to stay overnight.

That evening the maharaja of Sandur had come for Sri Periyava’s darshan. Before the king arrived or anyone knew about the King’s arrival, Sri Periyava had asked few Sippanthis to get an umbrella used by temples during the processions. They had found a very heavy one and multiple Sippanthis had to carry it with a lot of difficulty.

As soon as Sandur Maharaja and his family arrived, Sri Periyava blessed them all and gave them prasadam. Then He told the Maharaja that according to the Shastras, the king has to honor a Vedic Scholar who has completed Vajpayee yagna. He asked the Maharaja, if he would take Sri Padmanabhachar and his wife to their hometown with all due respects by holding the umbrella over them. Sandur Maharaja immediately agreed to it. He not only accompanied Sri Padmanabhachar to their house with all due respects, but also decided to build a new house for them.

Sri Subbaraman who witnessed this tells us that Sri Periyava through this incident conveys the importance of Vedic scholars. Even when the king is responsible for honoring them, then it is clear that common people like us have more duty in honoring and respecting them.

Sri Subbaraman had the blessing to witness one more similar event. When he had gone for Sri Periyava’s darshan at a village near Shahabad, along with some important people from the company TVS to discuss and seek guidance about the Veda Nidhi trust, a poor Vedic Scholar from Andhra also had come for Periyava’s darshan.

Even though he was blessed to have Sri Periyava’s darshan every Sivarathiri, he suffered due to lack of money and also suffered due to the Parkinson’s disease, which affects the nervous system. Due to this disease, he will not be able to speak his mind and his hands and legs will be shaking uncontrollably all the time. Even with these problems, he never missed Sri Periyava’s darshan during Sivarathiri.

Since he was a Vedic scholar, Sri Periyava blessed him more.
Sri Periyava asked Sri Raghavan and Sri T.A.T Chari, who had come there darshan to give the Vedic scholar Rs. 300 every month. Both of them agreed and payed the first month immediately before Sri Periyava.

On that day, the Vedic scholar explained Sri Periyava’s kindness to Subbaraman.  Every Sivarathiri, when he used to come for Sri Periyava’s darshan, he used to receive a shawl. During a particular Sivarathiri, Sri Periyava did not bless him with a shawl. Feeling sad on not receiving the shawl, he went back home. But to his surprise, the shawl and Sambavanai had already been delivered to his home.

Sri Periyava had already sent it home, so that the Vedic scholar need not come, given the difficulties associated with it due to his medical conditions. The Vedic scholar started to shed tears when he knew about Sri Periyava’s kindness and he had come back to thank Sri Periyava now. He now had Rs. 300 per month as pension arranged for him due to Sri Periyava’s kindness.

Subbaraman feels that with these two incidents, Sri Periyava explains the importance of protecting the Vedas and the Vedic study and also the importance we have to give for protecting it.

Even if we do not send one of our child to study Vedas, we can help the Veda Patasala and the students studying there.

The Veda Patasala at Sri Periyava temple (Bangaru Gardens) set up with the efforts of Sri Pradosham Mama who was blessed by Sri Periyava according to the lines, “You gave yourself to me and you took me in you” gives everyone an opportunity to participate and contribute to the protection of Vedas.

Due to the strong devotion of Sri Pradosham Mama, the bhakti towards Sri Periyava has grown and today, Anusham is being celebrated everywhere. Following the celebrations which were happening in Salem, Chennai, Sathyamangalam and Kasi, it has now been started at Vijayawada by an orthodox Vedic family.

Even though this happened due to the blessings of Sri Pradosham Mama and also due to the devotion of Sri Gunturi Ramasomayaji towards Sri Periyava, an incident that happened at the banks of river Krishna clearly shows the complete blessings of Sri Periyava for this event.

Sri Periyava’s Vigraham was being transported from Kanchipuram Bangaru Gardens to Vijayawada. Sri Periyava devotee Ramaratnam along with some Unchavritti Bagavatha people were also accompanying in this pilgrimage.

It was August 13^th and the month of Aadi according to our (Tamil) calendar. But according to Andhra calendar, since it was already the holy month of Sravana, Ekadasa Rudra abishekam was performed for Sri Periyava and the plan was to perform theppam for Sri Periyava (taking Sri Periyava in a boat) in the evening at river Krishna.

The river Krishna which was dry three days back, also knew the devotees’ prayers and started to flow on that day. Around 5:30 pm, Sri Periyava’s vigraham was brought to the Kanakadurga Ghat by Vedic scholars and Bagavathas. As the sun was setting, there was a disappointment waiting for the all the devotees who had come for the Theppam.

Due to the Telangana state problem, a bandh was in progress on that day, and they were denied the permission to perform the Theppam. Since the Andhra Tourism office was only half kilometer away from that place, the devotees went there in the hope of getting the permission.

When they went there, they were able to purchase the ticket for riding in the boat. Once they came back to the Ghat, they were not allowed to carry the Vigraham. In spite of talking to them multiple times, they were not allowed.

They were also ready to refund the money that were paid to obtain the tickets. All the devotees who had come there with the interest of seeing the Theppam were disappointed on hearing this. They were tired after multiple struggles they had faced during the day.

As they were about to leave, another boat with two people arrived there. On seeing the devotees returning, they stopped and enquired about it. On hearing the devotee’s story, they called the boat operators in the Ghat and enquired strongly why they were not allowed to board the boat. He gave the necessary permission and also called for a new boat. After the sunset, Sri Periyava’s Vigraham beautifully decorated with flowers, with the sound of Vedas, went around the river for almost 45 minutes. The devotees came to know that the person who had come in the boat and had allowed the Theppam to happen was none other than the General Manager of the Andhra Tourist Development Corporation.

Why should he come there? Why should he specifically call a new boat and arrange for the Theppam? This is all because of Sri Periyava’s kindness to His devotees. The blessings of Sri Pradosham Mama helped in the successful completion of the Sravana Jayanthi celebrations.

With all the different kind blessings that Sri Periyava has bestowed upon His devotees, it is true that if we surrender at the feet of Periyava we will be blessed with health, wealth, peace and happiness.
