Arunachala Mahimai by Shri Bharanidharan

Many Jaya Jaya Sankara to Shri. S.Venkatesh for the share. It seems this is a old and rare book. If any devotee has a better soft copy or want to type it afresh as the print quality is not good please consider doing so. I will publish. One of our volunteers mentioned it was posted in Ananda Vikatan magazine 45 years ago and is available in Giri Trading for Rs. 300. Check it out.

HERE is the link to the book. It is a 90 MB e-book so takes a bit of time to download.

  1. Sai, I am happy to type it in Tamil provided time is given and no copy right issue is faced. By the way, how many pages it would be?

  2. Sri Bharanidharan, who was a cartoonist in the Tamil weekly Ananda Vikatan under the name ‘Sridhar’ visited the samadhi shrine of Sri Seshadri Swami in Tiruvannamalai towards the end of December, 1969, with the intention of writing about him. By the grace of that great saint, he came to know of many other saintly persons and divine events in and around Tiruvannamalai area and started writing about them in Ananda Vikatan. His writing appeared in 101 issues of the magazine over two years [1970-71]., under the title “Arunachala Mahimai.” These articles were later collected and published as a book under the same title in three volumes. The first edition came out in February 1972. Each volume then cost only Rs,2.50 [Two rupees fifty paise.] These volumes contained all the photos and pictures that the original articles carried in the magazine. But these volumes were larger in size. They were published by Ananda Vikatan publishers themselves on glazed newsprint.
I had all the three volumes with me, duly bound. The third volume was borrowed by a friend and not returned. I have the first two volumes with me now.
Some years ago, Kalaignan Publishers [ கலைஞன் பதிப்பகம்] brought out an edition, priced at Rs.210. I do not know whether it contained all the pictures or only the text. It is now shown as “out of stock” in all the on-line outlets. Those in Chennai may inquire from the publishers.

    • Arunachala Mahimai is shown as available in Giri Trading Agency on-line. The publishers of this volume are shown as “Kalaignan Anuragam” and the price is Rs.300.
