எல்லோரும் ஞானிகளாயிட்டா?

சுகப்பிரம்மரிஷி அவர்களின் மேன்மையான சிறப்பு அம்சங்களோடு விளங்கிய சாக்ஷாத் பரமேஸ்வரரான ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா அப்படிப்பட்ட தன் மேன்மையினை சிறிதும் வெளிக்காட்டாமல் இருந்தும் இப்படி ஒரு மகான் இருக்கிறார் என்பதைக்கூட அறியாத அன்னியநாட்டவர்களுக்குக் கூட அவர்தம் மகிமை அத்தெய்வம் பரம்பொருளாய் வியாபித்திருப்பதன் காரணமாகவே உணரப்பட்டு ஆனந்தமளித்துள்ளது.

இதுபோன்ற அன்னிய நாட்டு பக்தர் சம்பந்தபட்ட ஒரு அரிய சம்பவத்தை பூர்வாஸ்ரமத்தில் ஸ்ரீமடம்பாலு என்றழைக்கப்படும் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவாளின் கைங்கர்யம் செய்த பாக்யம் அமையப்பெற்றவராய் கூறுகிறார்.

ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவா ஓரிக்கையில் இருந்தபோது நடந்த சம்பவம் இது. ஒரு வெள்ளைக்காரர் இந்தியாவிற்கு வந்தார். டில்லியில் வந்து இறங்கியதும் மும்பைக்குப்போக பிளேனில் டிக்கட் கேட்டார். கிடைக்கவில்லை. உடனே சென்னை செல்லும் விமானத்தைப் பிடித்தார். மீனம்பாக்கம் வந்து சேர்ந்தார். விமான நிலையத்தை விட்டு வெளியில் வந்ததும் எங்கே போவது என்ற கேள்வி எழுந்தது.

“இங்கு யாராவது ரிலீஜியஸ் லீடர் இருக்கிறாரா?” என்று அங்கிருப்பவரைக் கேட்க காஞ்சிபுரத்தில் அப்படி ஒரு மகான் இருப்பதாகத் தகவல் கிடைத்தது.

உடனே ஒரு டாக்ஸியைக் கூப்பிட்டு தன்னை காஞ்சிபுரத்திற்குக் கூட்டிப் போகச் சொல்லி வந்திறங்கினார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் தரிசனத்திற்காக மிக ஆவலுடன் காத்திருந்தார்.

ஓரிக்கையில் கைங்கர்யம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவர்கள் “Please wait for some time swamiji is taking rest” என்றனர்.

உள்ளே சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து ஸ்ரீபெரியவா எழுந்து ஆசமனம் செய்து விபூதி தரித்துக் கொண்டார்கள்.

“அவர் வந்துட்டாரா” என்று பலமுறை கேட்டார்கள். அப்போது அவ்விடத்தில் நாகலட்சுமி என்ற பக்தையும் இன்னும் சில பெண்களும் இருந்தனர். வேறு யாருமில்லை. உள்ளே இருந்த அன்பர்கள் சிலருக்கு வெளியே காத்து நிற்கும் அயல்நாட்டினர் பற்றித் தெரியவில்லை. ஆகையால் ‘நாகலட்சுமி வகையறா உட்கார்ந்து இருப்பதைப் பார்த்தோம். வேறு புதுசா யாரும் வந்திருக்கிறதா எங்களுக்குத் தெரியலே” என்றார்கள்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா மறுபடியும் “அவர் வந்துட்டாரான்னு பாருங்கோ” என்றதும் இவர்கள் வெளியே வந்து பார்த்தபோது அங்கே புதியவராய் இந்த வெள்ளைக்காரர் நிற்பது தெரிந்தது.

உடனே உள்ளே போய் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் “ஒரு வெள்ளைக்காரர் வந்திருக்கிறார்” என்றார்.

ஆமாம். அவரைத்தான் கேட்டேன் என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா சர்வ சாதாரணமாகச் சொன்னார். எந்த ஒரு முன் திட்டமும் இல்லாமல் எங்கிருந்தோ சென்னை வந்து திடீரென்று யாரோ சொல்ல காஞ்சிபுரம் வந்திருக்கும் இந்த அன்னியரை அவர் இன்னும் வரலையா, வரலையா என்று ஸ்ரீபெரியவா கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தாரென்றால் அது அவர் சர்வக்ஞனாக, சர்வவியாபியாக திகழும் அற்புதத்தை அநாயசமாக மறைத்து நாடகமாடுவதையல்லவா காட்டுகிறது.

அந்த வெள்ளைக்காரரை ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளிடம் அழைத்துச் சென்றனர். அவருக்குத்தான் எத்தனை பக்தி? என்ன சந்தோஷம்! மிகப் பிரியமாகவும் அன்புடனும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் மிக அருகிலேயே சுவாதீனமாக அவர் உட்கார்ந்து கொண்டார்.

அப்படி ரொம்பவும் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா பக்கத்தில் அமரக்கூடாது என்று அவரிடம் கூற அங்கிருந்தவர்கள் அவரை நெருங்கினர்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளோ அவர்களிடம் “அங்கேயே உட்காரட்டும் ஒன்றும் சொல்ல வேண்டாம்” என்பது போல் ஜாடை காட்டித் தடுத்துவிட்டார்.

வெள்ளைக்காரர் மிக சாந்தமாகவும், ஆனந்தமாகவும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் முகத்தையே பார்த்துக் கொண்டு புளாகாங்கிதம் அடைந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்.

அந்த வெள்ளைக்காரரிடம் மற்றவர்கள் “ஏன் இத்தனை ஆனந்தப்படுகிறீர்கள்?” என்று அதிசயத்துக் கேட்டனர்.

Didn’t you see the light there?” என்று ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் முகம் பிரகாசமாக ஒளிவிடுவதை பார்த்து தான் ஆனந்திப்பதாக அவர் கூறினார்.

Is it the sankaracharya referred by Paul Brunton? My god! My god!” என்று அவர் பரவசமாகக் கூறி கூத்தாடாத குறையாக ஆனந்தித்து ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டே இருந்தார்.

ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளெனும்  ஆனந்த ஜோதி  தரிசனத்தை  சுமார்  45  நிமிடங்களாகக் கண்டு களித்தவரிடம், ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அதுவரை ஒன்றுமே பேசவில்லை. அதன் பின் The purpose for  which you came to India is Over. Your goal is over. Get love” என்று அவரிடம் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா  சொல்லச்  சொன்னார். அங்கிருந்தவர்களும் வெள்ளைக்காரரிடம்  அதைச்   சொன்னார்கள்.

ஆனால் வெள்ளைக்காரரோ ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளிடம் லயித்து வைத்த கண் வாங்காமல் அந்த இடத்தை விட்டு அகல மனமில்லாதவராய் மயங்கிப் போய் நின்றார்.

நான்  சில தினங்கள் இங்கு இருக்கணும் என்று அனுமதி கேட்டார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளோ “அதெல்லாம் வேண்டாம் ஸ்டார்ட் இம்மீடியட்லி” என்று சொல்லி ஒரு ஆரஞ்சுப் பழத்தைக் கொடுத்து அவரை அனுப்பிவிட்டார்கள்.

அவர் சென்றபின் ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளிடம் இவர்கள் கேட்டார்கள் எங்கிருந்தோ வந்த வெள்ளைக்காரருக்கு அவர் அத்தனை பேரானந்தப்பட்டு தரிசிக்கும்படியாக பெரியவா அனுக்ரஹம் பண்றேள்………..அவர் கடவுளையே பார்த்ததுபோல அத்தனை பரவசமாய் போய்விட்டார். ஆனால் பக்கத்திலேயே நாங்க இருக்கோம்…….ஆனா அப்படியெல்லாம் எங்களுக்கு ஒரு அனுபவம் ஏற்படறதில்லே………அதனாலே எங்களுக்கெல்லாம் ஞானம் வரலையேன்னு வருத்தமா இருக்கு என்று ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளிடம் கேட்டனர்.

அவர்களுக்கு பதிலாக ஒரு புன்னகையை உதிர்த்திட்ட ஸ்ரீபெரியவா நீங்களெல்லாம் ஞானியாகிட்டா எனக்கு யார் ஸ்நானம் பண்ணி வைப்பார்கள்? யார் சாதம் போடுவார்கள்? என்றார் குறும்பாக..

பல ஜன்மங்களில் புண்ணியம் செய்திருந்தால் தான் நம்மால் ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளைப் பற்றித் தெரிந்துக் கொள்ள முடியும். எங்கிருந்தோ வந்த வெளிநாட்டார் செய்த புண்ணியத்தில் ஆயிரத்தில் ஒரு பங்கு கூட தாங்கள் செய்யவில்லையோ என்று அணுக்கத் தொண்டர்களான அவர்கள் ஆதங்கப்பட்டுப் பேசிக் கொண்டாதாக இவர் எழுதியுள்ளார்.

ஆனால் பலகோடி ஜன்மங்களின் புண்ணியபலன் இருந்ததால்தான் இப்படி சாக்ஷாத் பரமேஸ்வரரை நெருங்கிக் கைங்கர்யம் செய்யும் பாக்யம் அவர்களுக்கு பேரருளாக கிடைத்துள்ளதென்பது சத்தியம் என்பதையும் அவர்கள் உணர்ந்திருப்பவர்கள்.

முன்னிலைப் படுத்திக் கொள்ளாத மகாதேவர்!

ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் அணுக்கத் தொண்டர் சொன்ன இன்னொரு அனுபவம் இது.

ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க ஐந்தாறு வைணவர்கள் வந்தார்கள். பளிச்சென்று திருமண் இட்டுக்கொண்டு வைணவர்களுக்கே உரிய கரை போட்ட வேட்டிகளைக் கட்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

அவர்களில் ஒருவர் மட்டும் சற்று வித்யாசமாகக் காணப்பட்டார். மற்றவர்கள் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு வந்தனம் சமர்பித்த போது அவர் மட்டும் சிலையாக நின்றார். அவர் முகத்தில் எந்த உணர்ச்சியும் இல்லை.

வந்திருந்தவர்களில் ஒருவர் சொன்னார்.

“இவர் என்னோட மாமா இருந்தாற்போலிருந்து இவருக்கு எதுவுமே ஞாபகமில்லாமல் போய்விட்டது. இரவு, பகல்னு தெரியறதில்லே. தன் வீடு, தன் மனுஷாள் தெரியறதில்லே. டாக்டர் கிட்டேயெல்லாம் காட்டியாச்சு. நூறு டெஸ்ட் எடுத்துப் பார்த்தாச்சு! அவாளாலே என்னன்னு கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியலே. குழம்பிப் போய் தூக்க மாத்திரை கொடுத்து அனுப்பிவிட்டார்கள். கூடவே பல திவ்யதேசங்களுக்கும் அழைச்சுட்டு போயிட்டோம். குணசீலம், சோளிங்கர்னு போய் பார்த்தோம்…….இப்போ பெரியவா கிட்டே வந்திருக்கோம்” என்றனர்.

கொஞ்சம் யோசித்துப் பார்த்தால் அவர்கள் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் நம்பிக்கையோடு வந்த அதிசயம் விளங்கும். அப்பேற்பட்ட வைணவ சம்பிரதாயத்தில் இருப்பவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு ஏற்பட்டிருந்த துயரைப் போக்க வைணவ ஸ்தலங்களுக்கெல்லாம் சென்று முயற்சித்துவிட்டு, மருத்துவர்களிடமும் சென்று பலனளிக்காமல் பின் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளெனும் வைத்தியநாத ஈஸ்வரரிடம் சரணமென வந்து நிற்கிறார்களே? இப்படி வந்த வைணவர்களுக்கு ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா எனும் அத்வைத குரு எப்படி வழிகாட்டுகிறார் பார்ப்போம்!

இவர்கள் சொன்னதையெல்லாம் பொறுமையாக கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தார் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா.

பின்னர் விஷ்ணு ஸஹஸ்ரநாம பாராயணக் கிரமத்தில் சொல்லப்படும் ஒரு சுலோகத்தை 108 முறை சொல்லச் சொன்னார்கள்.

அச்சுதானந்த கோவிந்த நாமோச்சாரண பேஷஜாத் |

நஸ்யந்தி ஸகலா: ரோகா : ஸத்யம் ஸத்யம் வாதம்யஹம் ||

இந்த சுலோகத்தை 108 முறை அவர்கள் ஜபித்து முடித்ததும், அந்த கிழவருக்கு துளசி தீர்த்தம் கொடுக்கச் சொன்னார்கள்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளெனும் சாத்வீக தெய்வத்தின் அடுத்த கட்டளைதான் அனைவரையும் வியக்க வைத்தது. ஸ்ரீமடத்திலிருந்த ஒரு முரட்டு ஆசாமியை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அழைத்து வரச் சொன்னார். அந்த வஸ்தாத் போன்றவரை கிழவர் தலையில் பலமாகக் குட்டச் சொன்னார்.

அவன் அப்படியே செய்தான். அடுத்த விநாடியே ஒரு ஆச்சர்யம் நிகழ்ந்தது. அந்த முதியவர் ஏதோ தூக்கத்திலிருந்து விழித்தவர் போல எழுந்து நின்றார்.

“ஏண்டா ரகு, நாம இங்கே எப்போ வந்தோம்? ஏதோ மடம் மாதிரி இருக்கே………இது எந்த ஊரு என்று கேட்க ஆரம்பித்துவிட்டார். அவர் பூர்ணமாக சுயநினைவிற்கு வந்துவிட்டது தெரிந்தது.

கூட இருந்தவர்கள் நடந்தவைகளை விளக்கமாக சொன்னதும் அவர் பயபக்தியுடன் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு வந்தனம் செய்தார். அவருடன் வந்தவர்களுக்கெல்லாம் எல்லையில்லாத மகிழ்ச்சி……….எத்தனையோ நாட்களாகப்பட்ட கஷ்டமெல்லாம் பத்தே நிமிடத்தில் மாயமாய் போனதுபோல் தீர்ந்துவிட்டதே அந்த மாயத்தை செய்த மாதவன் எதிரே நிற்கும் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவாளோ?

எல்லாம் பெரியவாளோட அனுக்ரஹம் நன்றிப் பெருக்கோடு மருமான் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளை வணங்கினார்.

எல்லாம் அந்த பெருமாள் அனுக்ரஹம்னு சொல்லுங்கோ. அத்தனை திவ்ய தேசம் போய் பெருமாளை தரிசனம் செஞ்சதோட பலன் இப்போ கிடைச்சிருக்கு…… நீங்க எல்லோருமா சேர்ந்து அச்சுதன்    —    அனந்தன்   —-  கோவிந்தனை வேண்டி ஜபம் செஞ்சதிலே கைமேலே பலன் கிடைச்சிருக்கு”

என்று தன் மேன்மையை துளியேனும் வெளிக்காட்டாமல் மிக சாதரணமாய் அது நடந்தது போன்ற உணர்வை அவர்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கியதோடு விட்டுவிடாமல், அதே சமயம் அவர்கள் சார்ந்த வைணவ சம்பிரதாயப்படி பெருமாளை வேண்டியதன் பலனாக மட்டுமே அந்த அதிசயம் நடந்ததாக ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவா தன்னை முன்னிலைப்படுத்தாமல் சர்வ ஜாக்கிரதையாக இருந்தது அனைவருக்கும் புலப்பட்டது.

வைணவர்களுக்கு பாற்கடல் அளவுக்கு சந்தோஷம். அந்த பாற்கடல் துயில் பரந்தாமனே நேரில் நிற்கும் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவாளெனும் மகாபிரபு என்பது அவர்களுக்கு திட்டவட்டமாய் விளங்கியிருக்கும்.

அப்பெருமாளான ஸ்ரீபெரியவா பிரசாதமாக தந்த பழங்களையும், துளசியையும் பெற்று அவர்கள் ஆனந்தக் கண்ணீர் பெருக அகன்றனர். ஒரு பராக்கிரமத்தையும் அறியாததுபோல் இந்த அத்வைத சந்யாசி ரூப ஈஸ்வரர் நின்று கொண்டிருந்தார்.

இப்படிப்பட்ட மாயங்களையும் அதி அற்புதங்களையும் செய்விக்கும் மாபெரும் கருணைத் தெய்வம், தன்னை சரணடைந்தோர்க்கெல்லாம் சகல நன்மைகளயும் பொழிந்து, எல்லா உடல் உபாதைகளையும் மறையச் செய்து ஐஸ்வர்யங்களோடு மங்களமான வாழ்வினை நல்குவார் என்பது நிச்சயம்!

“If everyone becomes a Gnani?”

Shri Mahaperiyava, due to His kindness, to bless all the people, like a Sugabrahma Rishi Saint, took avatar as Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyava, walked this earth and blessed us.

Srimatam Balu narrates such an incident Periyava had on a foreigner. Periyava was at Orikkai in those days. A foreigner once landed in Delhi and wanted to visit Mumbai. Since all the flights to Mumbai were booked, he took a plane and landed in Chennai. After he came out of the Chennai airport, he did not know where to go.  He asked somebody if there were any religious leaders around that place and came to know about a Mahan living at Kanchipuram. He immediately took a taxi to Kanchipuram and waited anxiously for darshan of Periyava.

At Orikkai, he was asked to wait as Periyava was taking rest. After some time, Periyava got up performed Achamanam and adorned Vibuthi and asked “Has he come?” The people serving Periyava inside only know about Nagalakshmi and some other ladies who were waiting outside and were not aware of the waiting foreigner. They told Periyava that Nagalakshmi and some other ladies are waiting outside. When Periyava again asked if he has come, they came out and saw the foreigner waiting outside.

They went inside and told Periyava that a foreigner has come and waiting for darshan. Periyava replied that He was asking about that person only. Doesn’t this show Periyava as the all-knowing Sarvagnan? Periyava knew about the foreigner’s visit, even though the foreigner never knew about Periyava and also did not have any plans to visit Kanchipuram.

They let the foreigner come in for Periyava’s darshan. He was over joyed and with great bhakti, he came and sat very close to Periyava. As others were asking him to move away and sit, Periyava stopped them and allowed to sit closer to Him. The foreigner was so elated and he kept looking at Periyava. All the others were asking him the reason for his happiness.

“Didn’t you see the light there?” he asked them looking in the direction of Periyava and said that was the reason for his happiness.  The foreigner continued, “Is it the Shankaracharya referred by Paul Brunton? My god! My god!” and happily was enjoying Periyava’s darshan. This went on for 45 minutes and Periyava did not talk to him during this time. After that Periyava asked the foreigner to be told that his trip to India and his goal is complete and asked him to get love. The devotees present there told it to the foreigner. But the foreigner was not in a state to listen. He was totally mesmerized by Periyava. He requested to stay there for few days. But Periyava asked him to start immediately and gave him an orange as prasadam.

After the foreigner left, the devotees present there asked Periyava how come the foreigner was blessed with such a great darshan that he felt that he had seen God and they were always present around Periyava and they have never felt it before. We feel we have not attained the knowledge to be in that state. Periyava smiled and said if all of them became Gnani then who will bathe and give food for Him.

Only if we have lots of spiritual merits from our previous births, we will be able to understand and realize Periyava. The devotees there discussed that they did not earn one thousandth of the merit earned by the foreigner. But at some point they would have realized that they should have earned merits from multiple births to live with Periyava and do service to Him.

One, who does not take credit

This is another incident narrated by another devotee who served Periyava.

One day, five or six Vaishnavas came for Periyava’s darshan. They were wearing Thiruman (tilakam worn by Vaishnavas). One among them looked different. As others offered their prayers, he stood there like a statue. His face did not register any expressions. One of the other person started to narrate what had happened.

He pointed to the person who stood as statue and said, “This is my uncle. He does not remember anything. He does not know if it is day or night and is also unable to recognize his family. We took him to multiple doctors and have performed different tests, but the doctors do not know what the problem. We have also visited a lot of Divya Deshams (108 Vishnu temples). We also visited the temples at Gunaseelam and Sholingar. Now we have come to you seeking help.”

If we think for some time, we will understand that they have to come Periyava, who is also Sarveshwaran in the form of Vaidhyanathan only after visiting the Vaishnava temples and also consulting doctors. Now let us see how Periyava guides them. Periyava was listening to them very carefully. Then He asked them to recite a shlokam from Vishnu Sahasranamam 108 times:

achyutAnanta govinda nAmocchAraNa bheShajAt
nashyanti sakala rogaha satyam satyam vadAmyaham

Once after completing the recital, Periyava asked them to give some thulasi theertham to the old man. The orders from Periyava that continued this surprised everyone. Periyava called for some strong muscular guy in the Srimatam to come and hit the old man in the head. The strong man did as asked. Everyone were surprised to see the old man moving. It was as if he woke up from a long sleep. He recognized his family and asked them, “Raghu, where are we now? It looks like Srimatam. Which city are we in?” Everybody realized that he had regained his consciousness.

When his family explained all the things that had happened, he prostrated Periyava. Everyone else in the family were over joyed. The problems they had been facing for so long has been resolved. Everyone felt Periyava to be Madhava (Sri Vishnu) who had cured the illness in ten minutes.

As they all thanked, Periyava said, “It is all Perumal’s blessings. You have got the fruit of visiting the Divya Deshams today. This is the result of chanting the name of Sri Vishnu.” Everyone there realized the greatness of Periyava. He did not take any credit for the cure and also made sure there that the remedy was in accordance to Vaishnava traditions and made them feel as if Sri Vishnu had blessed them.

But for the Vaishnava devotees, Periyava appeared to be Sri Vishnu. They all left with moist eyes after getting fruits and thulasi as prasadam. As they left, Periyava stood there as if He did not know anything.

It is true that if we surrender at the feet of Periyava we will be blessed with health, wealth, peace and happiness.

Grace will continues to grow.
