ஆசாரம் சிக்கனத்துக்கு ரொம்ப உதவுகிறது என்ற பாயின்ட் வருகிறது. இப்போது மனஸில் எழும்புகிற பலதரப்பட்ட ஆசைகளுக்காகத்தானே செலவெல்லாம் செய்கிறோம்?  கண்டதைச் தின்னத் தோன்றுகிறது, ஸினிமா ஆசை, டிரஸ் ஆசை என்று இவற்றுக்காகத்தானே செலவு செய்கிறோம்?  இந்தச் செலவுக்கெல்லாம் நிறைய ஸம்பாத்யம் இருந்தால்தான் முடிகிறது என்பதால்தானே எத்தனை துராசாரமான தொழிலானாலும், எந்த அநாசார தேசத்தில் வேண்டுமானாலும் போய்ப் பண்ணுவது என்று ஆகியிருக்கிறோம்? “ஐயோ இதைத் தின்பது பாபம்: இதைப் பண்ணுவது பாபம்” என்று சாஸ்திரங்களைப் பார்த்துப் பார்த்து மனஸின் ஆசைகளையெல்லாம் குறைத்துக் கொண்டு விட்டால் இத்தனை செலவுக்கு அவசியமில்லை. உள்ளூரோடு எத்தனை எளிய வாழ்க்கை வாழலாமோ அதற்குரிய ஸம்பாத்தியம் தருகிற ஒரு தொழிலைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு, நிம்மதியாக இருந்து கொண்டிருக்கலாம். வேண்டாத பொழுதுபோக்குகள், அலைச்சல்கள் இல்லாததால் தெய்வ சிந்தனையும் ஆத்ம விசாரமும் பண்ண நிறைய டயமும் கிடைக்கும். ஒரு சேஞ்ஜ் பண்ண வேண்டும். வெளி லோகத்தைப் பார்க்க வேண்டுமென்றால் ஷேக்த்ராடனம், தீர்த்தாடனம் செய்யலாம். கோஷ்டியாக பல பேர் சேர்ந்து யாத்ரை போனால் அதிலே வேறெந்தப் பொழுதுபோக்குக் கேளிக்கையிலும் கிடைக்காத ஆனந்தம் கிடைக்கும். பஜனை ஹரிகதா ச்ரவணம், உத்ஸவம் இவற்றின் ஆனந்தம் ஸினிமாவிலும் நாவலிலும் கிடைக்கிற ஸந்தோஷத்துக்கு எத்தனையோ மேலானதாகத் தெரியும். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்

We can say that Aacharam helps us in thriftiness. Do we not do all the spending only to satisfy the desires arising in our mind? We spend to satisfy our desire to see a movie or buy a new dress isn’t it? Since these expenses require a high income, we do not mind doing even dishonest jobs, or go to any kind of foreign land and earn money, isn’t it? If we can follow the sastras and minimize all our desires saying ‘eating this is sinful; doing this is sinful’, then the expenses will also be minimized. We can stay within our country, leading a simple, peaceful life and earning just enough for it. Since unwanted entertainments and travel will not be there, one will have more time to think about Bhagawan and elevate the self. If one wants a change from the routine and wishes to also see the outside world, one can go on a pilgrimage. If a group were formed for the pilgrimage and the trip undertaken, it will bring happiness that is not available in any other pastime or entertainment.
