Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara – Sri Periyava shows us a very important way to revive Vaidika matham & Vedas.  A key point to note here is how Vedas should be learnt and chanted. We should understand that chanting of Vedas is not chanting slokas or Bhagawan Namas. Cleanliness in terms of food, madi, etc. needs to be followed. Nowadays we see many chanting Veda with no madi, wearing shirt and pants, chanting directly out from bed, eating out before chanting, etc. Same goes for casual chanting of Gayathri Maha manthra, the lynch pin of Vedas. These are all directly against what Sri Periyava says below.  A few organizations also allows Veda to be chanted by all which again is out of the line. We cannot change the world, but ourselves. ‘எல்லாரையும் வைதிகமாயிரு என்றால் இந்தக் காலத்தின் போக்கில் நடக்கிற காரியமா? நடக்காததைச் சொல்லிப் பிரயோஜனம் என்ன?’ என்று கேட்டால் நடக்கிற அளவுக்கு ஒன்று சொல்கிறேன். இதையாவது உடனேயே செய்ய ஆரம்பித்து விடவேண்டும். ஸமூஹத்தில் ஒட்டாமல் தனியாக வைதிகர்கள் ஒரு சின்ன கோஷ்டியிருப்பதாகவும், அவர்களும் இன்ஃபீரியாரிடி காம்ப்ளெக்ஸோடு அப்படியிருப்பதாகவும் இருக்கிற ஸ்திதி மாறுவதற்கு இந்த ஒன்றைச் சொல்கிறேன். அதாவது மற்றவர்கள் முழுக்க வைதிகமாகப் போகாமல் லௌகிகமான ஸ்கூல், காலேஜ் என்றே பசங்களை விடட்டும். தாங்களும் ஆஃபீஸோ, கம்பெனியோ, சொந்த பிஸினெஸ்ஸோ (அது ரொம்பவும் துராசாரமாக இல்லாத வரையில்) என்ன தொழில் பண்ணுகிறார்களோ அப்படியே பண்ணட்டும். ஆனாலும் பசங்களை தினம் ஸாயந்திரம் ஒரு மணி, ஸ்நானம் பண்ணி மடி கட்டிக் கொண்டு, நெற்றிக்கு இட்டுக் கொண்டு ஒரு பொது இடத்தில் ஒன்றாகக் கூடி கொஞ்சமாவது வேதாப்யாஸம் பண்ணுவதற்கும் ஸ்தோத்திரங்கள் கற்றுகொள்வதறகும் ஒவ்வொரு பேட்டையிலும் ஏற்பாடு செய்ய வேண்டும். பிராம்மணரல்லாதாருக்கும் வேதாப்யாஸம் தவிர மற்ற தினுஸில் மதாபிமானம், தெய்வ பக்தி உண்டாகும் படியான ஏற்பாடுகளைப் பண்ண வேண்டும். நீராடுவது, நீறு பூசுவது (அல்லது திருமண் இடுவது),  தேவார திருவாசக திவ்ய பிரபந்தங்களை ஓதுவது என்று வைத்துக் கொள்ளாலம். சின்ன வயஸிலிருந்தே இப்படி நம் மதாநுஷ்டானங்களில் பிடிப்பை உண்டாக்கிவிட வேண்டியது அவசியம். ஸகல ஜாதிக் குழந்தைகளுக்கும் ஸம்ஸ்கிருதமும் கற்றுக் கொடுத்துவிட வேண்டும். அத்தனை சாஸ்திரங்களும் அந்த பாஷையில்தானே இருக்கின்றன? ஆனபடியால், நம் சாஸ்திரங்களைப் பார்த்து அதில் என்ன இருக்கிறது என்று தெரிந்து கொள்ளக் கூடிய பாஷா ஞானத்தை நம் மதத்துக் குழந்தைகள் எல்லோருக்கும் உண்டாக்கிவிட வேண்டும். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்

Some may ask ‘Can everyone follow the path of Vaidikam? What is the point of saying something that cannot be followed?’ Let me state something that can be done. At least this should be started immediately. I will tell you a way whereby the situation of Vaidikas lingering as small group not integrated into society and also having an inferiority complex, changes, Let the others in the society not go completely in the path of Vaidikam. Let them educate their children in schools and colleges. Let them also continue with their office or own business (provided it is not on the wrong path). But they should make arrangements for their children to come together everyday for one hour. The children should have a bath, ensure that ‘madi’ is followed, apply vibhuti or tiruman on the forehead and do vedabhyasam and learn slokas. This arrangement should be made in every area. In non Brahmins, except vedabhyasam, regard for religion and bhakti towards God should be developed. They should have a bath, apply vibhuti or tiruman and learn the Dhevaram and Tiruvachagam. It is very essential that an attachment to our anushtanams develops from a very early age. Children of all castes should be taught Samskritam. All our sastras are written only in Samskrit isn’t it?
