My TV Kovil Trip

Tiruvanaikovil is one of my standard kshetrams I go during my India trip. I have done lots of postings about our Kanchi Sankara Matam in TV Kovil in the blog. There has been some renovation work going on, which were long overdue. Thanks to Auditor Sri Jayaraman, who has been doing selfless job at the Matam.

It was great to see the work has been completed in phases – kitchen, restrooms have been  renovated. The area outside the kitchen where the vidyarthis wash their hands etc also have been taken care. There is one more building that has almost fallen apart and they are getting guidance from Sri Periyavas.

The patasala has about 30+ vidyarthis and there are few who have complete full adhyanam. The adhyapakar was getting all of them to chant Lalitha Sahasranamam and I was lucky to be there and took a small video clip. Right behind where they are sitting is a Sannidhi for Durga. I was told that the murthis and the puja items that are there in that room are at least 200 years old – used by ancestors of HH Pudhu Periyava!

This is one of the oldest matams for Kanchi Peetam like Thiruvidaimarthur.

If you have not been to this place, please plan to visit next time.

As you may be aware, through KGF, we have been offering our humble support to this patasala for the past several years. The renovation project needs support from all. Please feel free to contact Sri Jayaraman at gbjayaraman@gmail.com. Unfortunately I missed to meet him and Sri Atirudram Ravi during this visit as they had to go to Kanchipuram on an urgent need.

Likewise, the Kovil is undergoing renovation work and kumbabishekam is planned in few months (forgot the date). Some of the gopuram work has been completed and looking so beautiful and other works are going on. Smt Mahalakshmi mami has been tirelessly working to get these work completed. Please contact mami for more details…I couldn’t take photos of the gopuram as it was late in the evening and was dark.

Akilandeswari Ambal’s beauty is beyond words – you won’t feel like coming out of the Sannidhi….Had a great darshan of Jambukeswarar and Akilandeswari with the blessings of acharyas.

Aum Nama Shivaya!

  1. Thiruvanaika Sankara Matam entrance (Banner picture) looks really beautiful🙏🙏🙏 Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara 🙏🙏🙏

  2. Yes, the Pradhosham and other festivals in Kubera lingam sannidhi near the south entrance is well attended by a large number of devotees, nowadays.

  3. Any idea what happened to panchamuka Linga backside installed by periava in 1941. What happened to the space behind where vriddhasram was there. It’s near the bikes tree at the backyard where periava used to sit in evenings at 4 pm or so and when everyone used to report about mutt affairs. Are they preserving the nelkudir behind Ganesa in ambal sannidi in the temple Aditya is oldest! Did you our visit old jambukeswara temple and noticed the saptaswara pillar there. I am told that the kotilinga before the tank there draws lots of crowd. I feel nostalgic!

    • They all are there and well maintained….when I went, abishekam for kalabairavar was getting ready. unfortunately I couldn’t stay as the temple was going to close and I was running for darshan.
