நெத்தில குங்குமம் வெச்சுக்கோ!

பல வர்ஷங்களுக்கு முன்னால், உபன்யாஸ சக்ரவர்த்தி சேங்காலிபுரம் ஶ்ரீ அனந்தராம தீக்ஷதர், ஶ்ரீமடத்தில் இருந்தபோது, நடந்த மெய்சிலிர்க்க வைக்கும் ஸம்பவம்.

ஒரு வெள்ளிக்கிழமையன்று, ஶ்ரீமடத்தில் ஸுவாஸினி பூஜைக்கு ஏற்பாடாகியிருந்தது. ஸாக்ஷாத் பெரியவாளே அங்கே அமர்ந்திருக்க, பல ஊர்களிலிருந்து ஏகப்பட்ட ஸுமங்கலிகள் வந்திருந்தது, கண்கொள்ளாக் காட்சியாக இருந்தது.

இவர்களிடையே ஒரு பெண்மணி மட்டும் சற்று வித்யாஸமாக இருந்தாள். ஸுமார் நாற்பது, நாற்பத்தஞ்சு வயஸிருக்கும். வைதவ்ய கோலமாக, நெற்றியில் குங்குமம் இல்லை. தலையில் பூ இல்லை. அவளைப் பார்த்தவர்களுக்கோ, ஒருவேளை குங்குமம் இட்டுக்கொள்ள மறந்துவிட்டாளோ! என்ற ஸந்தேஹம். ஒரு பெண் அவளிடம் குங்கும சிமிழை நீட்டியதும், ஏதோ பார்க்கக் கூடாததை பார்த்த மாதிரி, ஒதுங்கி ஓடினாள்.

பெரியவாளின் கருணாகடாக்ஷம் இவளை தப்பிக்க விடுமா?

அவளை கூப்பிட்டார்.

தயங்கி தயங்கி அந்த தெய்வத்தின் முன் நின்ற போது, அந்தப் பெண்ணுக்கு அழுகைதான் பொத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தது.

“அழாத!…. ஸுவாஸினி பூஜை நடக்கற எடத்ல குங்குமம் இல்லாம மூளி நெத்தியோட நிக்கறியே! இது பகவத் ஸன்னதி. எத்தன ஸுவாஸினி வந்திருக்கா பாரு! மங்களகரமா இருக்கோல்லியோ? இந்த வேளைல நீ மாத்ரம் கண்ணீரும் கம்பலையுமா நின்னா நன்னாருக்குமா? நெத்தில குங்குமம் வெச்சுக்கோ”

தாயினும் மேலான தயாபரனின் வார்த்தைகள் அவள் அழுகையை அதிகமாக்கியது.

“இல்ல பெரியவா, நா…  குங்குமம் வெச்சுக்க கூடாது”

பெரியவா பதிலே சொல்லவில்லை.

“எங்காத்துக்காரர் military-ல வேலை பாத்தார். ஆறு மாஸம் முந்தி டெல்லிலேந்து எனக்கு ஒரு லெட்டர் வந்துது. அதுல…. அவர் சண்டைல செத்து போயிட்டதா எழுதியிருந்தது. நா….நம்பலை பெரியவா! வேண்டாத தெய்வத்தையெல்லாம் வேண்டிண்டேன். டெல்லிக்குபோன் பண்ணினா, அவாளும், border-ல இருக்கறவாகிட்ட பேசி, அவர் செத்துப் போய்ட்டார்னு confirm பண்ணிட்டா! பேப்பர்ல கூட ரெண்டு மூணு தடவை ந்யூஸ் வந்துடுத்து. எனக்கு என்ன பண்றதுன்னே தெரியல..! கார்யம்-லாம் அப்போவே பண்ணிட்டோம். இன்னிக்கு நா…மடத்துக்கு வந்ததே, அவரோட அகால மரணத்துக்கு அவருக்கான கர்மாவை இனிமே எப்படி பண்றது-ன்னு கேக்கத்தான் வந்தேன். இந்த மாதிரிஸுவாஸினி பூஜை நடக்கப்போறதுன்னு தெரிஞ்சிருந்தா இன்னிக்கு வந்திருக்கவே மாட்டேன் பெரியவா….”

நாதியில்லாமல் இருந்தவள், இன்று ஆத்மநாதனிடம் கதறிவிட்டாள்.

பரப்ரஹ்மம் பேசாமல் இருந்தது.

“அவரோட ஆத்மா ஶாந்தி அடையணும். இதுதான் என் ப்ரார்த்தனை. நீங்கதான் எனக்கு உபாயம் சொல்லணும். பெரியவா… இப்போ போகச்சொன்னா போய்ட்டு, இன்னொருநாள் வரதுக்குகூட தயாராயிருக்கேன்”

பெரியவா பதிலேதும் சொல்லாமல், கண்ணை மூடிக்கொண்டு கொஞ்சநேரம் இருந்தார்.

ஸாக்ஷாத் காலஸம்ஹாரமூர்த்தியாக ஜ்வலித்தார். தன் முன்னால் இருந்த மரடப்பாக்குள் கையை விட்டு, கை நிறைய குங்குமத்தை அள்ளினார், அழகான புன்முறுவலுடன் அவளிடம் நீட்டினார்.

அவளோ முழித்தாள். அவளுடைய கை, குங்குமத்தை பெற்றுக்கொள்ள முன்வரவில்லை!

” வாங்கிக்கோங்கோ ! பெரியவா தன் கையாலேயே குங்குமம் தரார்னா, ஒங்களோட பாக்யம்ன்னா! நீங்க ஸுமங்கலிதான்!

பக்கத்தில் இருந்தவர்கள் முடுக்கியதும், நடுங்கும் கைகளில் குங்குமத்தை வாங்கிக்கொண்டாள்.

“நெத்தில இட்டுக்கோ! ஓன்னோட மனக்லேஸம் அவஶ்யமில்லாதது. ஒம்புருஷன் உஸுரோட இருக்கான். ஸீக்ரமா ஒங்கிட்ட வரப்போறான்.”

“உயிரோடு இல்லை” என்று ஆறு மாஸமாக அரஸாங்கம் முதல், அத்தனை பேராலும் ஊர்ஜிதப்படுத்தப்பட்ட ஒரு விஷயம், ஒரே நொடியில் தெய்வத்தால், “பொய்” என்று தள்ளப்பட்டது.

அந்த பெண்ணோ, ஸந்தோஷத்தில், பெரிய பொட்டாக இட்டுக்கொள்ளவும், அங்கிருந்த பல ஸுவாஸினிகள் அவளுக்கு வெற்றிலை, பாக்கு, மஞ்சள், பூ, திருமாங்கல்யம் என்று வாரி வழங்கினார்கள். க்ஷணத்தில், அந்த இடம் குதூகலமானது.

அன்று அவளும் ஒரு ஸுவாஸினியாக வரிக்கப்பட்டு பூஜையில் அமர்ந்தாள்.

ஒருவாரம் கழிந்தது.

பெரியவாளின் திருவாக்கு, பொய்யாகுமா?

இறந்ததாக கருதப்பட்டு, கருமாதியும் பண்ணப்பட்ட அவளுடைய புருஷன்….. மெலிந்து, சோர்ந்து ஒரு அதிகாலை வேளை வீட்டுக்குள் நுழைந்தான்..!

அவனைக் கண்டதும், அவளுக்கு என்ன பேசுவதென்றே புரியாமல், ஆனந்தத்தில் ஏதேதோ உளறினாள்.

“எப்டி இருந்தேள்? எங்க இருந்தேள்?…. ஏன் ஒங்க head-quarters-ல கூட அப்டி சொன்னா?….”

“நீ கேள்விப்பட்டதெல்லாம் நெஜந்தான். கிட்டத்தட்ட ஸாவோட விளிம்புக்கே போய்ட்டேன்.! குண்டு பாய்ஞ்ச வலியில, மயக்கமாய்ட்டேன்..!

சலனமே இல்லாம, ஸன்னமான மூச்சுகூட இல்லாம இருந்த என்னை, செத்த பொணம்-னு நெனச்சிண்டு எதிரிகள்…. எங்கியோ இழுத்துண்டு போய் அநாதரவா போட்டுட்டு போய்ட்டா…! யாரோ சில மலைவாஸிகள் என்னை எடுத்துண்டு போயி ஸொஸ்தமாக்கினா..! அவா புண்யத்ல, எனக்கு புனர்ஜன்மா கெடச்சுது. அங்கேர்ந்து எந்தவிதமாவும் யாரையும் contact பண்ணக்கூட முடியல….! நன்னா நடக்க முடிஞ்சதும், ஒடனே கெளம்பிட்டேன். ஒன்னோட ப்ரார்த்தனை வீண் போகல..!”

ப்ரார்த்தனையா! !

மலைவாஸியான பரமேஶ்வரனுடைய பரமக்ருபையன்றோ!

“பெரியவா…. தெய்வம்னா….! எனக்கு குங்குமத்தை அள்ளி குடுத்தாரே!…”

அழுது கொண்டே, ஶ்ரீமடத்தில் நடந்ததைச் சொன்னாள்.

அவ்வளவுதான்! இருவரும் விழுந்தடித்துக்கொண்டு காஞ்சியில் பீடத்தில் அமர்ந்து அன்பைச் சுரந்து கொண்டிருக்கும், பரப்ரஹ்மத்தின் திருவடிகளில் வந்து விழுந்தார்கள்.

“என்ன?….. ஆத்துக்காரர் வந்துட்டாரா?…ஒனக்கு இனிமே எந்த கொறையும் இருக்காது…”

திருவாய் மலர்ந்தது காலனை எட்டி உதைத்த காலடி தெய்வம்!

Keep the Kumkumam

This scintillating incident happened many years ago when “Upanyasa Chakravarthi” Sengalipuram Sri. Anatharama Deekshithar was present in Sri Matam.

It was a Friday and Suvacini Poojai was being arranged in Sri Matam. Maha Periyavaa was sitting there and lot of married woman had gathered from various towns. It was a wonderful sight.

Among them was one lady, who looked different. She would be 40-45 years old and was looking like a widow without any Kumkum on her forehead or flowers in her hair. People around her doubted if she forgot to apply Kumkum. When a Suvacini nearby gave her Kumkum, the lady moved away as if she saw something which she was not supposed to see.

Will Maha Periyavaa’s compassionate grace let her escape? Maha Periyavaa called her.

When the lady hesitantly stood before Periyavaa all she could do was cry.

“Don’t cry! When Suvacini poojai is going on, you are standing without Kumkum in your forehead! This is the place of God. See how many Suvacini’s have come today – Doesn’t it look auspicious? Will it look good if you alone keep crying in such a situation? Keep the Kumkum in your forehead”

These kind words from Periyavaa (who is kinder than a Mother) made her more emotional and cry heartily.

“No Periyavaa – I cannot keep Kumkum”

Maha Periyavaa didn’t answer at all.

“My husband worked in Military. 6 months before a letter came from Delhi and it was addressed to me. In that latter it was written that he died in a battle. I didn’t believe it Periyavaa. I prayed to all Gods and called his Delhi office. They spoke to people in the border and confirmed that he had died. The News also came in paper 2-3 times. I was not sure what to do. We then did all thebereavement rituals as well. Today my main intention of coming to Sri Matam is to enquire how to perform the karma’s for him after his untimely death. Had I known that Suvacini Poojai is going on, then I would have never come here today” –  The lonely lady wept out loud in front of Maha Periyavaa having said what was in her mind.

The Parabrahmam was silent.

“His soul must attain Shanthi. This is what I pray for. You have to show me the way Periyavaa. Even if you ask me to leave now and come back another day, I am ready to do it”.

Periyavaa didn’t reply and closed His eyes for sometime.

Maha Periyavaa was glowing like a Kalasamharamurthi. He put his Hands inside the wooden box in front of Him and took a handful of kumkumam. With a beautiful smile He gave it to the lady.

The lady was clueless. Her hands didn’t extend forward to get the Kumkumam.

“Get it! If Periyavaa is giving you Kumkumam with His own hands, then it is a big blessing for you! You are surely a Sumangali (married woman with husband alive)” said those who were around her. She then took the Kumkumam with shaking hands.

“Apply it in your forehead. The worry in your mind in unnecessary! Your husband is very much alive and will come to you soon”! The death news which was confirmed for the past 6 months by everyone right from the Government to Newspapers was pushed away in a second as a “lie” by God himself!

The lady was overjoyed and applied the Kumkum as a big circle on her forehead. Other Suvacini’s who were around gave her lots of betel leaves, betel nuts turmeric, flowers and Thirumangalyam. In a second, it became a happy place again. That day she was also considered as a Suvacini and she sat for the pooja as well.

Will Maha Periyavaa’s words fail? No way!  One week passed – Her husband, who was considered dead, and for whom the bereavement rituals were also performed, entered their house on an early morning! He looked thin, worn out and tired.

As soon as the lady saw her husband she didn’t know what to speak and she started blabbering in joy. “How were you? Where were you? Why did even your head quarters confirm that you were dead?”

“Whatever you heard is the truth. I almost glimpsed death. I was hit by a bullet and in that pain I lost my consciousness. Since I lay there without any movement or a faint of breath, enemies thought that I was dead and they dragged me to some place and left my body there. But the mountain tribe who lived there took me and nursed me. Due to them I got another life. I was not able to contact anyone from there. As soon as my health improved and when I was able to walk, I started from there immediately. Your prayers didn’t go in vain. They saved me”

What Prayers? It was the utter grace of the Parameshwaran who stays in the Mountains! “Periyavaa… He is God! He gave me Kumkumam with his own hands” cried the lady and informed her husband about the happenings in Sri Matam.

That’s it! Both of them rushed to Kanchi and fell in the feet of the ParaBrahmam, who is the epitome of love!

“Has your husband returned? You will not have any shortcomings from now on” blessed the Kaaladi Lord who kicked the Kaalan (Yaman)
