மஹா பெரியவா மஹிமை – மயிலாப்பூர் கற்பகாம்பாள் & மஹா பெரியவா

சென்னை மயிலாப்பூரில் உள்ளது மிகப்பிரச்சதி பெற்ற கற்பகாம்பாள் உடனுறை கபாலீஸ்வரர் ஆலயம்.இந்த ஆலயத்தில் 1950 ஆம் வருடத்திலிருந்து என் தயார் ஆனந்தவல்லி, தன்னையொத்த பெண்களுடன் ஒரு குழுவாக அமர்ந்து, அனுதினமும் லலிதா சஹஸ்ரநாம பாராயணம் செய்வது வழக்கம். இவர்களுக்கு முத்துலட்சுமி அம்மாள் என்பவர் தலைவியாக இருந்தார். இந்தக் குழு “கற்பகாம்பாள் சஹஸ்ரநாம கோஷ்டி” என்றும், தலைவி “குரு பாட்டி’ என்றும் அழைக்கப்பட்டனர். என் தயார் செயலாளராக இருந்தார். அனுதின பாராயணத்தைத் தவிர கோயிலின் பலவேறு உற்சவங்கள் மற்றும் விசேஷ நாட்களில் அர்ச்சனை, அபிஷேகம் ஆராதனை ஆகியவையும் செய்துவந்தனர்.

1970-ல் ஒரு நாள் குரு பாட்டிக்கு கனவில் காட்சி அளித்த கற்பகாம்பாள், “நீயும் உனது கோஷ்டியும் தினமும் எனக்கு சஹஸ்ரநாம பாராயணம் பண்ணிண்டுருக்கேள். விசாலாட்சிக்கும் காமாட்சிக்கும் இருக்காப்போல எனக்கும் தங்கத்துல சஹஸ்ரநாம காசுமாலை வேணும். செய்து போடறியா?” என்று கேட்க, பாட்டியும் தான் கனவில் கண்டதை குழுவில் எல்லோருக்கும் சொல்லி மகிழ்ந்தார். அனைவரும் நல்ல மனம் படைத்த பக்தர்களிடமிருந்து நன்கொடை பெற்று காசுமாலை செய்து கற்பகாம்பாளுக்கு அணிவிக்க முடிவு செய்தனர்.

வருடங்கள் பல சென்றும் குழுவின் நடுத்தர வர்கத்து மாதர்களால் காசுமாலைக்குத் தேவையான பெரும் பொருளை சேர்க்க முடியவில்லை. சிலரது ஆலோசனையின் காரணமாக 1978ல் குரு பாட்டியும் எனது தாயாரும் மற்றும் உறுப்பினர்களோடு பரமாச்சரியாளிடம் முறையிட காஞ்சி மடத்திற்கு சென்றனர். காத்துக் கொண்டிருந்த அவர்களிடம், மடத்துப் பணியாளர் ஒருவர் வந்து, “பெரியவா உங்களை உடனே வரச்சொன்னா; உள்ளே போங்கோ” என்று சொல்லவும் விரைந்து உள்ளே சென்றனர். மஹா பெரியவாளின் தரிசனத்தில் மெய்சிலிர்த்துப் போயிருந்தவர்களிடம், :என்ன? காசுமாலைக்கு பணமும் பொருளும் சேரலியா?” என்று மகான் கேட்டார். தாம் முறையிட வந்ததை முன்னதாகவே மஹா பெரியவா கேட்டதால் சொல்வதறியாது நின்றவர்களிடம், பெரியவா “அம்பாள் தானே கேட்டா; அம்பாளே அதுக்கு அருள் கொடுப்பா; கவலை படவேண்டாம் ” என்று கூறினார்கள். மேலும் “விசாலாட்சிக்கும் காமாட்சிக்கும் இருக்கறது பணக்கார காசுமாலை; ஆனா கற்பகாம்பாளுக்கு கிடைக்கப் போறது பக்தியால காசுமாலை” என்று அங்கிருந்தவர்களிடம் கூறினார்கள். பிறகு எனது தாயாரிடமும் குரு பாட்டியிடமும் “கற்பகம் சுவாசினி சங்கம் அப்பிடின்னு பேர் வச்சு நிறைய சுவாசினி மற்றும் பாலா திருபுரசுந்தரி பூஜைகள் செஞ்சிண்டு வாங்கோ” என்று சொல்லி ஆசீர்வாதம் செய்து பிரசாதமளித்தர்கள்.

மஹா பெரியவா சொன்னதை சிரமேற்கொண்டு நடைமுறைப்படுத்தியதால், பொன்னும் பொருளும் வந்து குவிந்தன. 1982ல் காசு மாலை செய்யும் வேலை துவங்கியது. சென்னை உம்மிடி பங்காரு கண்ணன் அவர்களிடம் வேலை ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டது. ஒவ்வொரு காசின் ஒரு புறத்தில் ஒரு நாமாவும், மறு புறத்தில் கோயிலின் முத்திரையான சிவலிங்கத்தை மயில் பூஜை செய்வது-பின்னணியில் அம்பாள் உருவமும் பதிக்கப்பட்டது. அவ்வப்போது வேலையின் முன்னேற்றம் குறித்து காஞ்சி மடம் மூலமாக மஹா பெரியவாளுக்கு தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. ஸ்வாமிகளும் மடத்தின் வேத பாடசாலை பண்டிதர்கள் சிலரை அனுப்பி வைத்து நாமாக்களின் சரியான பதிவு மற்றும் வரிசை மாறாதிருத்தல் ஆகியவற்றை ஆய்வு செய்ய வைத்தார். இந்த மகத்தான காரியத்திற்கும் பல முட்டுக்கட்டைகள் – ரிலீஜியஸ் எண்டோமென்ட் போர்டு; கோயில் போர்டின் ஒரு சில உறுப்பினர்கள்; சில வேலை இல்லாத சமூக அமைப்புக்கள் மற்றும் சில விஷமிகள் என பல வடிவுகளில் வந்தன. ஆனாலும், மஹா பெரியவாளின் அருளாசியினாலும், நிர்வாக அதிகாரி சுகவனேஸ்வரர்; தக்கார் குப்புசுவாமி; தலைமை அர்ச்சகர் விஸ்வநாத சிவாச்சாரியார்; வழக்கறிஞர் கிருஷ்ணஸ்வாமி ஆகியோர் உதவி செய்ததாலும் வேலை நன்கு முடிந்தது., “அருள்மிகு கற்பகாம்பாளுக்கு லலிதா சஹஸ்ரநாம தங்க காசுமாலை சமர்ப்பண விழா” 26-21986 அன்று கொண்டாடுவது என்றும் விவேக் & கோ விழா அமைப்பாளராகவும் முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டது.

துரதிர்ஷ்டமோ அல்லது வினைப்பயனோ, 20-1-1986 அன்று எனது தந்தையார் உடல்நலக் குறைவு காரணமாக மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டார். கை கால்கள் செயலிழந்து பேச்சும் இல்லாமல் போனது. மருத்துவர்களும் நம்பிக்கை இழந்து, அதிக பட்சம் 48 மணி கெடு கொடுத்துவிட்டனர். எனது தாயார் இதைத் தாங்க முடியாது மனமுடைந்து வீட்டின் பூஜை அறையிலேயே அடைந்து கிடந்தார். குரு பாட்டி சங்கத்தின் உறுப்பினர்களோடும், உம்மிடி கண்ணன் மற்றும் விவேக் ஆகியோருடன் முடிவுற்ற காசு மாலையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு பெரியவாளை தரிசிக்க மடத்திற்குச் சென்றார். இவர்கள் எல்லோரையும் பார்த்த ஸ்வாமிகள், “ஏன்? உங்க செகரட்ரி வரலியா?” என்று கேட்க,இவர்களும் எனது தந்தை மற்றும் தாயாரின் நிலைமை பற்றி கண்ணீருடன் விவரித்தனர். காசு மாலையை பார்வையிட்ட மஹா பெரியவா, “மாலை ரொம்ப நன்னா வந்திருக்கு; இந்த மாலையை கற்பகாம்பாளுக்கு போட உங்க செகரட்ரி இருப்பா; கவலைப் படாம போயிட்டு வாங்கோ” என்று சொல்லி ஆசீர்வதித்து பிரசாதங்கள் கொடுத்தார். அனைவரும் நேராக எனது வீட்டிற்கு வந்து என் தாயாரிடம் ஸ்வாமிகளின் ஆசிகளை சொல்லி பிரசாதங்களை கொடுத்தனர். என்ன ஒரு அதிசயம்! அதே நேரத்தில் மருத்துவ மனையிலிருந்து, எனது தகப்பனார் நினைவு திரும்பி பேசுவதாகவும், மிகவும் நல்ல நிலையில் இருப்பதாகவும் செய்தி வருகிறது. மருத்துவர்கள் மிகுந்த ஆச்சர்யத்துடன் ஏதோ அற்புதம் நடந்துள்ளது என்று சொல்லி மறு நாளே எனது தந்தையை டிஸ்சார்ஜ் செய்து விட்டார்கள். அவரும் இரண்டு தெருக்கள் தள்ளி இருந்த மருத்துவ மனையிலிருந்து வீட்டிற்கு நடந்தே வந்து விட்டார்.

26-2-1986 அன்று காசுமாலை சமர்ப்பண விழா வெகு விமரிசையாக நடந்தது. எனது தந்தையாரும் சிறிது நேரம் கோயிலுக்கு வந்து விழாவினில் கலந்து கொண்டார். செகரட்ரி என்கின்ற வகையில் என் தாயார் விழாவை முன்னின்று நடத்தி, அன்று காலையில் கற்பகம்பாளுக்கு காசுமாலையினை சாற்றி மாலையில் நடை பெற்ற கூட்டத்தில் தனது அறிக்கையையும் சமர்ப்பித்தார். மேலும் காசுமாலையைப் பாதுகாப்பாக வைக்க ஒரு கோத்ரேஜ் அலமாரியினையும், சுவாசினி சங்கத்தின் சார்பில் இந்த விலையுயர்ந்த காசுமாலைக்கான ஆவணங்களையும் அளித்தார். தற்போதும், அம்பாளுக்கு அனைத்து வெள்ளிக் கிழமைகள், பெளர்ணமி நாட்கள் மற்றும் வருடா வருடம் 26 பிப்ரவரி நாளிலும் இந்தக் காசுமாலை சாற்றப்படுகிறது. எனது தந்தையார் 13-3-1986 அன்று எவ்வித அல்லலுமின்றி அம்பாளின் பாத கமலங்களை சென்றடைந்தார். மருத்துவர்களால் கைவிடப்பட்டு இனி பிழைக்க மாட்டார் என்ற நிலையில் அவருக்கு உயிர் தீபமேற்றி, எனது தாயார் தனது கடமையை நன்கு செய்து முடிக்கவும், எங்களுடன் மேலும் சில நாட்கள் அவர் நல்லபடி வாழவும் செய்த ஸ்வாமிகளின் கருணையை கூற வார்த்தைகள் போதவில்லை. இன்றளவிலும், நானும் எனது குடும்பத்தாரும், உறவினர் மற்றும் நண்பர்கள் இடையே இந்த அற்புத நிகழ்வுகளை பற்றி பேசி காஞ்சி மாமுனிவரின் பேரருளையும் ஆசிகளையும் நினைந்து ஆனந்தப்படுகிறோம்.

Maha Periyavaa’s Greatness – Mylapore Karpagambal & Maha Periyava

The very famous temple of “Karpagambal Udanurai Kabaleeshwarar” temple is situated in Mylapore, Chennai. Starting in 1950, my mother Smt. Anandavalli along with her women associates used to do “Lalitha Saharanamam” chanting in this temple on a daily basis. Smt. Muthulakshmi Ammal was their group leader. This group was called “Karpagambal Sahasranama Goshti” and the leader Smt. Muthulakshmi Ammal was called “Guru Paati”. My mother (Smt. Anandavalli) was the Secretary. In addition to the daily chanting they also participated in other devotional activities during the festive season.

In 1970, one night Karpagambal came in Guru Paati’s dreams and asked her “You and your group are performing Sahasranama chanting for me everyday. I want a Sahasranama gold coin chain (A gold chain made of 1000 gold coins with the 1000 names of the Goddess engraved on it) for me just like Visalakshi and Kamakshi (Goddesses in Varanasi, UP and Kaanjipuram, TN respectively). Can you do it for me?”. Guru Paati happily informed everyone in the group about her dream. All of them decided to collect donations from likeminded devotees and make the Gold Coin Chain for Karpagambal.

Years passed but the middle class women of the group were unable to collect the huge amount required to make the gold chain. As per suggestions from others, in 1978, Guru Paati and my mother along with their group went to Kanchi Matam to meet Paramacharya and ask for his guidance. When they were waiting to get his Dharisanam, one of the person working in the Matam came to them and said “Periyavaa is calling you immediately – Go inside” and so all of them rushed in. Once in, they were mesmerized by looking at Him. Periyavaa asked them “Are you in short of gold and money for the Gold Coin Chain?”. My mother and their group were speechless on hearing this, since Periyavaa himself asked about this before they could even utter a word about the Gold Coin Chain. Periyavaa continued “The Goddess (Ambal) only asked you right? She herself will take care of it. You don’t have to worry! And he added “Visalakshi and Kamakshi has Gold Coin Garlands made out of riches. But Karpagambal is going to get a Gold Coin Garland made of devotion (Bhakthi).” He then turned to Guru Paati and my mother and told “Name your group as “Karpagam Suvacini Sangam” and keep performing many Suvacini and Bala Thirupura Sundari pujas” and blessed them and gave Prasadam.

Since they strictly followed Maha Periyavaa’s words, gold and money started to flow in abundance. In 1982, the work for the Gold Coin Chain began. The responsibility of making it was handed over to “Ummidi Bangaru Kannan”. On one side of every coin was one name of the Goddess and the other side contained the temple seal (Ambal in the background with Shivalinga being worshipped by a peacock in the foreground). At frequent intervals the progress of the work was informed to Maha Periyavaa via Kanchi mutt. Maha Periyavaa sent few scholarly Pandits from Mutt’s Veda Padasala to ensure that the names of Goddess being engraved in the coin and their order are correct.

This great task also faced multiple barriers in the form of Religious Endowment Board, Few members of the Temple board, few jobless social organizations and few anti-social elements. But due to the blessings of Maha Periyavaa and due to the help rendered by Managing director Sugavaneswarar, Thakkar Kuppuswamy, Head Priest Viswanatha Sivaachariyaar, Lawyer Krishnaswamy the task was completed successfully. The dedication of the Lalitha Saharanama Gold coin chain to Arulmigu Karpagambal as decided to be celebrated on 26-2-1986 and Vivek & Co were designated as the host of the function.

Unfortunately, on 20-1-1986, my father was admitted in hospital due to ill-health. He lost his consciousness and lost movements in his hands and legs. Doctors who treated him lost hope and told that at max he may live for 48 hours. My mother was unable to bear this, and she confined herself to our pooja room. Guru Paati along with the group, Ummidi Kannan and Vivek, carrying the completed Gold Coin chain, went to meet Maha Periyavaa in Kanchi Mutt. Seeing all of them, Periyavaa asked “What happened? Why didn’t your secretary come along?”. They emotionally informed Periyavaa about my father’s condition and my mother’s situation. Periyavaa looked the Gold Coin chain. Periyavaa said “The chain has come out very nice. Your secretary will me present to put this chain to Karpagambal. Carry on and don’t worry”. He blessed everyone and have Prasadam. On their way back, everyone directly came to my home and informed my mother about Periyavaa’s blessings and gave Prasadam as well.

What a miracle! At the same time, we got news from the hospital that my father is back to conscious state and is doing very well. The doctors were surprised at the progress and they said, “Some miracle has happened” and discharged my father the very next day. He walked back home from the hospital which is at a distance of 2 blocks.

On 26-2-1986, the function to dedicate the Gold Coin chain to Goddess Karpagambal happened in a very grand way. My father also participated in the festivities for some time. My mother, being the secretary of the group, presided the function in the morning and did her work. She participated in the evening meeting as well and submitted her report. Also, on behalf of the Suvacini group she presented a Godrej Almirah to safeguard the chain and the documents related to the gold coin chain.

Even now, on all Fridays, on all Full Moon days and every year on February 26th, the Goddess will be wearing this Gold Coin Chain. On 13-3-1986, my father reached the lotus feet of the Goddess without any sufferings. There are no words to describe the Kindness of Maha Periyavaa, who, in the state when the doctors lost hope and told that my father won’t survive, gave the life back to my father and ensured that my mother does her duties very well and also gave us few more days with our father. Even to this date, me and my family along with my relatives and friends discuss about this wonderful incident and happily remember Maha Periyavaa’s grace and blessings.
