Cauvery Pushkaram Sankalpam

Periyava_Anushtanam_Rare

On Divine Orders from Sri Kanchi Periyavaas, Bramhasri Nitya Agnihotri Nerur Ramana Sharmaji (a Vedhic Pundit of extra-ordinary scholarship and vidwat) has done some serious research on several original Granthams that constitute the pramaanam for Cauvery Pushkaram and has compiled the attached Anushtana Sankalpam for the occasion.  It is the desire of Sri Kanchi Periyavaas that the entire world should benefit from adopting this Sankalpam and perform the anushtanams.

  1. The Pdf file has shown given some slokas in short version, hope the expansion helps.
    Maha Pushkara Sankalpam

Do namaskaram 3 times to the divine mother Kaveri (choose some spot nearby, avoid doing it facing southern direction)
    Do prokshanam with kaveri

Then Achamanam + Angavandanam (keshava narayana…)
    Vigneshwara Dharanam (suklam baradharam)
    Then Pranayanamam

Before sankalpam, these slokas are to be recited, some of us won’t be knowing these slokas, will provide meanings later. (this is given in short form in sankalpam)

    First sloka,
tadeva lagnam sudinam tadeva tArAbalam candrabalam tadeva
vidyAbalam daivabalam tadeva lakshmi pathehe angriyugam smarAmi

    Then second one,
apavitrah pavitro vA sarvAvastAm gathopi vA
yah smaret pundarIkAkSham sa bAhyAbhyan taraH shuchihi

    Third,
    mAnasaM vAcikaM pApaM karmaNA samupArjitam

    shrIrAma smaraNenaiva vyapohati na saMshayaH

    Then say,
    shrI rAma rAma rAma

tithir vishnuHu tatha vaaraH nakshatram vishnureva ca
yogashca karaNam caiva sarvam vishnumayam jagat

    Then,
    shrIhare govinda govinda govinda

Then tell mamopAtha…, please try to have someone familiar with reading Sanskrit.

  2. Thank you. Any English or Tamil version?

  3. Excellent sir. With my limited knowledge I think that the above sankalosm can be used, with suitable modifications for thithi vaara nakshatra, on all occasions during punya tirtha snanam. Is it correct?

    • I have tried my best, I will clarify with Vaideekas later and put an article. Mistakes might be there, better to have someone with Sanksrit knowledge.
