பகவான் “ச்ரத்தாவான் லபதே ஞானம்” – சிரத்தையுள்ளவன்தான் ஆத்மாவைப் பற்றிய அறிவு பெறுகிறான் – என்கிறார் [கீதை 4.39]. ‘ச்ராத்தம்’ (‘ச்ரார்த்தம்’ என்று தப்பாக ‘ர்’ போட்டுச் சொல்லுகிறார்களே, அது) என்றாலே ச்ரத்தையோடு செய்யப்படுவது என்றுதான் அர்த்தம். காரணம் கேட்காமல், நம்பிச் செய்ய வேண்டும். ஸயன்ஸ்படி ஸரியாய் வருகிறது, மனோதத்வத்துக்கு ஏற்றதாயிருக்கிறது. ஆரோக்யத்துக்கு உகந்ததாயிருக்கிறது என்றெல்லாம் காரணம் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு ஆசாரங்களை ஏற்பது என்றால், அநேக ஆசாரங்களுக்கு இன்று நாமுள்ள அறிவு வளர்ச்சி நிலையில் இப்படிப்பட்ட காரணங்களைக் காட்ட முடியாமலும் இருக்கும். அதனால் அவற்றைத் தள்ளி விடுவது என்றால் ஒரே அநாசாரத்தில்தான் முடியும். சிலதைப் பண்ணுவது, சிலதை விடுவது என்பது பாதிக் கிணறு தாண்டுகிற கதைதான். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள் மொழிகள்

Lord Krishna states in Bhagawad Gita that only a person with Faith will attain spiritual knowledge – knowledge of the Atman. Even the term Sraaddham used to denote the ancestral ceremony we perform (though it is often mispronounced as Sraardham with an ‘r’ interpolated) is derived from the word ‘sraddhai’, , meaning faith. We should perform with faith without asking for any reason. If we accept Aacharams only because they are scientifically correct, psychologically correct or conducive to the health, then we may have to give up many Aacharams which may not come under such categories. In this age of knowledge we may do so but this will only end in Anacharam.
