Cauvery Maha Pushkaram holy water in Post Offices

• Also decided to issue special postal envelope and card

  Cauvery Maha Pushkaram festival is scheduled to be celebrated from 12 to 24 September at Mayaladuthurai in Nagapattinam district.  It is expected that lakhs of people from various parts of the country are likely to arrive at Mayalidathurai to take part in this festival, which is celebrated once in 144 years.  The festival gains more importance because the festival will again happen only during 2161, after another 144 years.

  Realising the position of people who would be knowing about this festival but would not be able to come due to various circumstances, the office bearers of the Cauvery Pushkara Committee approached the Postal authorities of Government of India and requested to take necessary action to sell the Cauvery Maha Pushkara holy water also, filled in bottles, copper vessels etc., at reasonable prices similar to the sale arrangements made for Mahamaha holy water and Kasi holy water.

  Immediately accepting the request, Shri. Ajatha Sathru, Superintendent, Post Office, Shri. Abdul Lateef, Assistant Superintendent, Shri. Ganeshkumar, Inspector and S/Shri. Iyyappan Arumugam and Sundaresan, Officers, Commercial Division, have agreed, on behalf of the Postal department, to make arrangements to sell the Thula Ghat Cauvery Pushkaram holy water in post offices.

  Further, they have also informed that commemorating the Pushkaram festival, arrangements will be made to issue special postal envelope, post card, etc., printed with the logo of the Maha Pushkaram festival.

  It has been informed that commercial establishments, desirous of associating with these activities, may contact the Postal Superintendent, Mayiladuthurai.

  Swami Ramananda, President, Cauvery Pushkaram Committee, Mahalakshmi Subramanyan, Coordinator, Muthukumaraswamy, Secretary and others, met the officers of the Postal Department who have given the approval to issue the holy water, postal envelope and post card and expressed their gratitude.
