Panchakachcham is prescribed for men throughout the country. When the Bengali Babu does not tuck it in, it is still a small difference. But when you see the attire of the women, in our own region there is a difference between the Iyers and the Iyengars. The Kannada and Maharashtrian types of wearing a saree are different. But all these have kachcham. In North India, the ladies do not wear sarees with Kachcham. But there are different types of saree for the Gujaratis, U.P.ites, Bengalis, and the Kashmiris. Even in our region, ladies of Kerala wear mundu instead of kachcham. These attires are respected as representative of the culture of that particular region.
